The Golden Boyz

Amazing experience. When Julie, a fellow HPCC chorus member told me about live band karaōke, I was intrigued. The first night I joined we both signed up to sing. The band was amazing! The Golden Boyz of New Brunswick bring a supportive energy to every song they perform. With a selection of hundreds of your favorite karaōke songs as well as a the fine tunes only a group this talented could pick. I couldn’t get enough of this band’s energy and talent. In addition to LBK becoming my passion, I met some amazingly friendly and inclusive friends. The golden boyz attracts all levels of musicianship and alcohol consumption. Local musicians are inspired to bring their instruments and play along. I’ve seen musicians join in on trombone, keyboards, sax, trumpet, piccolo, tambourine, maracas and even spoons. If you are a singer who wonders what it’s like to play in a rock band, this is your chance. And with such an inclusive and harmonizing crowd, you will get up once and get hooked just like I did. It’s nearly impossible not to. At first I tried to challenge the band… What would they do if an awkward 200 lb. man sang lady gaga’s bad romance? Apparently, they would nail it, regardless. Helter skelter? They got blisters on their fingers! SOAD toxicity? Really? The golden boyz nailed it. After a few months frequenting LBK I sang all of the songs I knew with the band, I realized they were the ones challenging me. I started looking though their list for new music I’d never new before. And I’m glad I did. What would my life be like now if I never learned fugazi’s waiting room or the Trooper or get to see new friends connect with songs and each other? I don’t know and I don’t want to know. Live band karaōke with the golden boyz is a treat for singers and music fans alike. I’d especially try it if the thought gives you butterflies. Practice at home, come early, chat with the band, sign up. You’ll find a thrill just like me. If you chicken out, it’s cool, just dance around or have a beer. But when you do get up there you may look around to find you are not alone up there and really everyone around is singing along. Do I recommend the GoldenBoyz Live band karaōke experience? Damn straight I do. Give it a try you’ll like it or at least meet someone who does.
