Great little place to stop at while in New Buffalo. The prices are reasonable. The finds are super cool. You will go home with something. Angela,(I think the owner) is super cool and totally real she is in the know about all the ideas in the store. This is a must see when you are in NB.

You ever wonder about those places that seem too remember almost everyone that enters their doors? Well, Custom Imports is one of those places. I hit them on almost every trip I take to the New Buffalo area and while I’m not there every weekend or once a month(More of an every 3 month thing), they seem to remember me every time right up too what I might have been looking for on the last trip. The owner and her staff great everyone who walks in open and friendly, always asking if you want some tea, coffee, or cookies, but after that they pretty much leave alone. No hard sales which is beautiful. Nothing turns me off faster that hard pitch sales people. Not that they ignore you completely(they’ll answer any and all questions you may have), they let you explore. And explore is what you want too do when you’re at Custom Imports. If you are looking for a gift for the person who has everything, then this is the place for you. Everything from hand made tables and chairs, couches that look like they were from the set of some film, to paintings and statues of various sizes, to hand made saris and bedding and pillows, to just the strange. Even if you don’t plan on buying anything just going in and looking around is fun and different. You’ll see things that you wouldn’t expect to find in Southeastern Michigan. So go check out the giant stone Buddha statue that sits outside next to the parking lot, or better yet go into the warehouse and see the huge wood carved Dragon statue they have.

You just have to see the place to believe it.

I stopped in because I saw some statuary on display outside of the store and am still looking for the perfect pieces for my garden. Statuary here consists mainly of an assortment of Buddhas, but very nice ones if you want a lucky, stone icon in your yard. This is an eclectic store carrying imported goods from furniture, to jewelry, to home décor, to musical instruments. Other than playing with each instrument, I think my favorite part of the visit was trying out a number of oddly shaped benches made from barely-altered hard, laminated wood. A few were actually really comfy! The store is deceivingly large with multiple rooms of different odds and ends, so you may be there longer than you thought if your curiosity is sufficiently piqued. Alas, no Buddha for me, but plenty for everyone interested!
