The staff here is the absolute best. They have a great selection and the gift wrapping is great. The prices are very reasonable and the variety is excellent. The staff greets everyone coming in and never stops smiling. It’s worth the drive to visit, and almost impossible to leave without a purchase. A real hidden gem.

Pennyweights *sometimes* costs more than it should, but what jewelry doesn’t? You can get in and out of here for $ 20.00, or spend a couple of hundred bucks. I appreciate that kind of flexibility. I like that if there’s something trendy going around, I can generally get a better quality version of it here. Example: a leather wrap bracelet with sterling beads instead of plastic or glass ones. They make an effort to stay current. Right now, they are carrying pieces that look like Ippolita but you know, cost $ 40 instead of $ 395. Compare Pennyweight’s «Sterling Silver & Smoky Quartz Faceted Earrings» to Ippolita’s «STERLINGSILVERWONDERLANDTEARDROPEARRINGSINPYRITE». I’ll hang on to my extra $ 350. I’ve got places to go and things to eat baby.

I, too, have been a Pennyweights customer since high school. They always have a good variety of reasonably priced, but nice quality stuff… esp. sterling silver, which is great because it doesn’t irritate the skin at all. Now that I don’t live near there anymore, I order online. The customer service is still friendly and fast… they even included rubber earring stoppers in my last order, upon request. Good place!

I’ve been going to Pennyweights since I was in high school. You can always find a gift for someone here — male/female, old/young — and always priced well. Standards are there, as well as trendy surprises. Fine jewelry next to funk. Piercings are also done professionally and with great consultation.

Silver silver everywhere! this cute shop has been here for a long time so that says something. Unique jewelry w style & purpose. Accommodating & pleasant staff. Prices are less than one would expect. Perfect for a last minute gift or little treat for yourself. Personalized service & gift wrapping which is a nice touch! Very busy on Saterdays & parking can be a challenge.

The best kept secret in New Canaan. I have a ladies’ day here a few times a year with my mom, cousin and aunt. The girls that work there are very nice and I love the fact that they have so much merchandise that is so affordable. Definitely a must-visit if you’re ever in the area. I drive an hour there and back and it’s absolutely worth it.

Yes! This is a totally fun and inexpensive store in a very high end neighborhood. Buy yourself some sexy earrings for $ 20 then go across the street to Crumbs for a cupcake. It doesn’t get much better than this.

I have been shopping for jewelry here since I couldn’t see over the counter,(I’m now 28 and 5’7) and so consider myself a knowledgeable critic when it comes to Pennyweights. Set in the heart of New Canaan, I’ve watched as stores around it have been lost to the turnover of high rents in a(very) wealthy town, yet this little store has somehow managed to grow only in the right directions. The jewelry selection has gotten soooo much better(some of the stuff 8 – 10 yrs ago was a little dated) as has the quality and yet the prices are STILL phenomenal, ESPECIALLY in this area.(If you know Southern CT you will know what I’m talking about, but I have a feeling even in Boondocks, Missouri they’d be considered a bargain). You would pay triple at least anywhere else for what you’ll find there. Everything is either gold or silver — i.e. nothing’s going to rub off after a week of wearing it, and the few times I’ve had an earring post break off or a bracelet clasp fall apart i’ve just taken the piece in and they’ve either fixed it on the spot or sent it off to have it repaired.(Even the stuff that I had had for a few years… I told you I’ve been going forever). Probably most importantly? They’ve always been sooooo nice about it(even for, say, a broken $ 8 pair of earrings). The staff definitely deserve an award for how nice they always are — this place can get super busy, especially on weekends and around the holidays, and I certainly wouldn’t be that patient with me when the store is so swamped! Plus they do free gift wrapping and it’s always looks so cute. So long story short — much love to Pennyweights and I say keep up the good work. Definitely THE best spot for jewelry in this area hands down. Now all they need is their own parking garage… the parking around there can be brutal.

Great jewelry at a very reasonable price. The store is a bit small and can get very cramped on Saturday’s but they’re very good at keeping a lot of staff on hand at once, so you won’t wait too long. The wrapping paper and little ribbon they offer is also great if you’re buying a gift. The only issue is parking, it can be a challenge to find a spot.

I never paid much attention to Pennyweights, but my wife discovered it and asks me now to buy her gifts there whenever I’m in town. Prices are very reasonable, my wife loves the unique jewelry styles, and she tells me she is always impressed with the quality. You’ll find excellent variety and best of all any gifts are wrapped on the spot. Other pluses and minuses… There is a Starbucks right down the street which is awesome. The only negative is parking can sometimes be competitive.

The best deal in New Canaan! Tons of really reasonably priced and interesting silver jewelry. It’s hard to leave there with buying something. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. Even when it’s really crowded, they have so many people working that it won’t be long before someone helps you. And they will put everything into tiny wrapped boxes with curly ribbon bows for you. *dreamy sigh* Watch for really neat glass rings/beads that the owner makes occasionally.
