Severed Ties Antiques and Quality Consignments

Severed Ties looks like a tasteful antique shop, but it’s the second consignment shop to open in New Canaan and survive all kinds of economic challenges. It’s been there for over 20 years. I have purchased several fabulous treats for myself, including a perfectly stunning dining room table. I am especially fond of the art work they have, as much of it is very tasteful and surprisingly affordable. Last time I went in, I almost picked up a small landscape done in oils that was in a lovely gold frame. It was marked at $ 75 and now I don’t know why I didn’t get it. Regrets hit me hard when I make a pass on something like that.
Their jewelry case is filled with show stopping rings. Guess when the divorce bell clangs, the Mrs. brings in her heirlooms for some quick cash. How nice for her– and for jewelry lovers.
While some things are pricey (and not quite my taste) there are lots of bargains in here, from pillows to art to sweet little porcelain boxes for dressing up your living room. They have two large rooms just oozing with luxury goods. With another consignment shop just around the corner, New Canaan should be a decorator’s prime destination when they want to furnish a room with a touch of chic sophistication.
