I have never written a review before, but I felt I needed to write this. I have visited Harvest Tap before and have always had a good experience, but I went there tonight and it was an awful experience. First I order the siracha shrimp, I have ordered this many times and it has always been delicious, but today it took 30 minutes to receive this appetizer and it was completely burnt and over cooked. Then, after another 20 minutes we received our dinners, in my case my veggie burger was burnt, and my daughter received mac and cheese that was basically a spicy soup. My daughter was then served a cookie that tasted like lemon pledge. Then, after sending back almost all of the food we received the bill, where we were charged for everything. Look, I am a waitress, I get it, yeah maybe disliking the mac and cheese soup was a matter of taste, and maybe the cookie just wasn’t for us, but she brought the ticket like, «Hey, yeah I know all this food was terrible, but you are still charged for all of it anyway.» I paid for all of it, except the shrimp, left her a decent tip and bounced. All I am saying here is don’t waste you time with this place, bad food, bad service, just ignore.

This place has really fallen off. You might notice that I have a 5-star review previously, so it really pains me that it’s no longer a place we’ll frequent. The help seems to turn over rather regularly. On various visits, I’ve been told that all of the beer there was gluten-free(it’s not) and on another occasion that they didn’t have any gluten-free beer(when they had the Daura Damm, which is). My wife and I really loved the Roasted Cashew Chicken, described in their menu as a «Grilled Chicken in a Roasted Cashew Cream Sauce.» Whenever we’ve been there it’s been served over a gluten-free pasta. The last time we were there, we were a bit baffled, because what came out was a grilled chicken breast served over potatoes and cauliflower, with a dab of cream sauce and walnuts(?), which it happens that neither my wife nor I like. I understand running out of something and having to make a substitution, but when you’re going to make someone a whole different dish, you may want to to at least have the courtesy to mention it. I’m afraid it’s time for us to move on to another place.

This is now my number one all-time gluten free restaurant. So nice not to have to ask for gluten free options, and everything was delicious! My son has celiac disease and we went there for his 19th birthday tonight. The place was so quaint and still so trendy and the downtown area in New Carlisle is like stepping into a different world — very impressive for such a small town that I had never heard of before! It must be a growing city or something because this is one of the more impressive small town downtown areas — so clean and attractive. If you need gluten free and want a great place that even your non-gluten free family members will enjoy, definitely go to this place!

Being gluten and dairy free makes dining difficult at times. Not here. Wonderful burger and bun with roasted cauliflower for me. A wrap and salad for my husband. Best lunch in recent memory.

The Harvest Tap is a small restaurant with an eclectic menu selection using locally grown foods. For example, they are now trying a Hawaiian style chili and a BLT on bread prepared by their pastry chef. They have a somewhat limited, but widely varied selection soup, salads, burgers, wraps, and entrees. The dessert selection is awesome and everything is made in-house. Of course, some gluten-free selections are available. An interesting selection of beers and wines is also available to complement the food. Our waitress was very friendly and very helpful. New Carlisle is off the beaten path, but if you’re in the South Bend area, take some time out to visit the town, shop at the Village Shoppes and dine at Harvest Tap next door. Check their Facebook page to see what new creations are available.

I was surprised to find an organic, Gluten-free, Farm-to-table restaurant in a little town like New Carlisle. I came here while passing through for work. I ordered the Avocado burger with fries. It was very weird not having to ask for it without a bun or asking for a Gluten-free option, because EVERYTHING there is Gluten-free. The burger was very good, and so we’re the fries. It’s nice to see another farm to table restaurant. Supporting are local farmers, and buying locally helps the economy and is healthier.

We were very disappointed eating here. When we walked in we were informed that the internet was down and they couldn’t take credit cards, only cash. A couple days later at another restaurant while trying to pay we were informed they would have to run the charge through the old-fashioned way, writing out the charge-slip by hand because of the internet being down. I don’t know why the Harvest Tap couldn’t have done this. Two of us at the table ordered one of the meat dishes. The waitress came back after a while and said they were out of it. Someone at the next table ordered something different and they were told that they were out of that also. The two at our table ordered the chicken with the cashew sauce and after a very long wait to be served, neither person liked it or could even eat much of it. I had the tuna salad, expecting it to be Ahi tuna(it didn’t say that on the menu so maybe I shouldn’t have expected it). What I got was a couple of very overcooked, dried-out pieces of normal tuna. After the main course the waitress described the deserts. My wife ordered the brownie. It was very small and totally hard, she had to try and cut it with a knife. When this was Mosers(which has moved down-the-street) it was great and still continues to be great at it’s new location. The is also owned by the people that own Mosers and is not good at all. We will never go back here again.

This place makes delicious food that is local and made with care. Even if you are not gluten free, the food is the literally best I have tasted in all of Indiana. The atmosphere is artistic, cozy, and comfortable… romantic even. Even the water was thoughtful… infused with strawberry and cucumber– so refreshing! I got the California Burger. The bacon was cooked to perfect crispiness, the avocado super fresh and perfectly ripe, and the bun was home made and the best gluten free. or well best bread I have had in quite some time! The staff was very personable and I will DEFINITELY be coming back! In the summer they plan on having live music. All the bear and wine is local and so thoughtful. Help keep this gem alive and give it the business it deserves! Go to Harvest Tap. It is worth the drive, set in such a picturesque cute town, and you will only be grateful that you went. You’re Welcome! I am jealous you are gonna eat here.

Farm to plate, gluten-free concept. Appetizers, salads, burgers, entrées, and desserts are packed with flavor. Such an inviting, warm establishment. Reminds me of being back in a small, hometown restaurant… very friendly environment. I would recommend trying the jalapeño appetizer, spicy avocado soup, portobello steak, and the butter brownie dessert. The lemon-pomegranate cake is phenomenal… fresh, light, and tasty!
