Newcastle diner is the best local restaurant in town. Everything is fresh, and many products are purchased from local venders. A new special for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Homemade pies and milkshakes are the best! Food that doesn’t suck.

They microwave their hamburgers, sat at bar and watch them microwave 3 burgers, one which was mine, tasted like shit. Very nice young ladies working there.

I stopped in here with my mother on a thursday around 1:00 in the afternoon. I had the grilled ham and cheese sandwich and it was really good and we had a sweet waitress and the place was clean. We enjoyed our meal, I will be back.

Inconsistent food depending on who is cooking. Sometimes it is really spicy and sometimes bland. The sandwiches are always good. The ambiance is 50’s and Dave the owner is super friendly. I love the staff, but I don’t always love the food.

The food was average, but our experience and our appetites were ruined by the young man(an employee) behind the counter chewing his nails, drinking soda and walking around touching food before it went out from the warming window. He walked around touching the pie server and rolling new silverware without ever washing his hands after chewing on them. Entirely unsanitary and really grossed us out. Friendly staff but that doesn’t make up for the lack of proper restaurant sanitation. Our waitress(Jessica) was really friendly and tried her best but watching that male employee touch everything after chewing his fingers just made our stomachs turn.

Super friendly people is what you expect at a place that claims to be a 50’s style diner. That is what I ran into when stopping for lunch as I was passing through town. The food was solid and the milkshake was good. This is definitely worth the stop if you’re traveling along I-70.

The food is great, depending on who the chef is. I got the Reuben with a salad. Very fresh, very tasty. The Italian dressing was amazing, They told me they make all the dressings there. The atmosphere is great, although it could be a little cleaner and The music is a little loud. The one they call Dave, has an interesting way of doing things. I believe he’s the owner… Every time I go in there, be it breakfast or lunch. He’s always hovering over the waitresses, throwing out belittling comments towards them. It’s very strange. A few weeks ago he was in the kitchen during a breakfast rush, my food was under the heat lamp for all of 5 minutes, when my waitress went to grab it, he yelled at her and threw it against the wall. After that I decided to pay my bill, apologized to the waitress and left without my food. I was appalled. All in all a great restaurant, with great staff. Just pick a day when the owner isn’t there, and you will enjoy your visit!

We were near by and had a craving for chicken strips. We got them to go and when I walked in there was a very sad looking server folding napkins. The server checking me out gave her a dirty look and waited for her to move her hand to grab some. I honestly felt really awkward. The chicken strips were good but we counted and with one order we received exactly 11 fries. Strange experience!

We were tent camping nearby(at Elk Creek), and it rained one day. So, we stopped in here for breakfast. Service: They were a little slow at first, but the place was hopping. Once our waitress made it over, things went better. And they all made sure our coffee cups stayed full. Food: Got enough food here that we skipped lunch and had a late dinner. And it was pretty great, too. My husband had three of the largest pancakes I’ve ever seen, and I had the huevos rancheros Christmas-style. Fantastic red salsa and green chili! Wouldn’t be surprised if it was made in house. The potatoes were cooked, but not browned and crispy like they should be. The rest of their menu looked pretty good, too. Thought about coming back for dinner, but the rain broke so we were able to break out our grill. Ambiance: Like others said — it’s a 50s style diner. I didn’t find it tacky or anything. It was cute. And it was clean. Prices: No complaints. Both our breakfasts were under $ 10 each. For the price, they give you a TON of food. Overall, they live up to their credo and then some: «Food that doesn’t suck.» I’d go back again next time we’re in the area and recommend it to others.

We sat down and waited 15 minutes before anyone came over then we waited another ten for our waiter to even come to our table. It was not busy. Maybe two other small parties. We were NOT asked for drinks. Also food tasted like fish out waiter never came to our table besides to drop food off and leave. Not once said anything to me or my husband. Finally my husband got up and left when done eating with one of my children. Not once asked if we needed anything else. I had to ask another waitress for some more water while my waiter stood at a table and did nothing. Does not even deserve a star.

We eat here quite frequently. Service is always friendly, but also maybe inexperienced. Have tried several different items on the menu and all have been hood. Home made desserts always yummy. Try fruit instead if fries-one of the best fruit bowls I have ever gotten. Home made ketchup is very good.

Chili is alright but overpriced for the amount of meat they give you — not even remotely spicy though and kind of watery. Chicken Caesar salad is disgusting with watery and bad tasting dressing, fake and processed tasting chicken. And they charged 10 bucks for that. Not worth it in the slightest.

The food here isn’t bad. I get the huevos rancheros. This place is not the cleanest though. In the summertime there are always lots of flies and tables are sometimes sticky. The service is good depending on the waitress you get but they are always friendly.

We stopped in here on the road to a Moab weekend and it was the perfect pick me up. Our server was welcoming, speey and friendly as can be. Definitely try some of Mo’s mustard, it’s a dream. Overall a gem of a spot if your swinging through town, I recommend it highly.

Delicious! Their chef really really knows how to cook! Try the mushroom soup and the spinach salad, and their shakes and malts are to die for. the food is so good you hardly know you’re in a diner. My husband goes just for the home made ketchup, its so good! Try it, my son loves their calamari and burgers. The staff needs a little help on organization but overall they are friendly and its always a delicious experience and good prices! You won’t be disappointed

On my drive on gorgeous I-70 through Colorado, I reached the«I need to eat and use the facilities» portion of the drive and pulled over in New Castle. Quickly turned on the Unilocal app as I wanted something more than just McDonald’s and the place with the most reviews was New Castle Diner. As others have mentioned, a very kitschy 50’s themed diner with a mix of locals and those passing through. Decent diner menu — burgers and sandwiches for lunch, some pasta options for dinner. But the real treat here are the fresh made daily soups. When I arrived I noted the Cream of Asparagus(and I love me some ‘grass), and ordered the Turkey club. Fortunately I flagged down one of the other servers and got myself a bowl. Well worth it. While chatting about the soup with my server, she mentioned they do a bacon cheeseburger soup that she said was«the best soup she’s ever had» and that the kitchen staff were soup masters. The Cream of Asparagus was really fresh tasting and creamy, but I was jealous about the bacon cheeseburger soup. For the main lunch I got the Turkey Club. Solid Turkey Club, but make sure you ask for their homemade ketchup and mustard. Worth it. So if you’re passing through New Castle, or in the area, worth stopping by for a quick, friendly lunch,

My friend Henry and I stopped here after a drive from Nebraska and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. They pretty much make home made everything. I tried the Fish and Chips(Homemade batter, homemade tartar sauce, etc) and the Calamari and everything was fresh and they were very friendly. All-in-all, a very good place to stop and check out. You won’t be disappointed.
