I got a footlong with the works sans the ketchup with fries that rocked. They had my favorite, cherry coke. It was cheap, good and fast. I’d go back.

Great food and super friendly service! I like that they are open until midnight. I like that they have a separate corner for pizza and subs

I’ve waited a long time for the Dog House review. It seems that my travel time and their business hours never matched up. Well that all changed. So far, in my search for the ultimate hot dog meal, this is the BESTHOTDOG east of Chicago. This is serious wiener! The foot long is served vivisection(cut in half length-wise). Let’s be honest New York: the NY dog is over-rated and under-delivers. The Dog House serves them on real buns made of bread with flavor and texture. The works includes fresh onions, fresh tomato, mustard and(no ketchup for me) thanks. Peppers, chili, cheese and other flavors are available. The atmosphere is DIVE and the SERVICE is hardscrabble friendly. By the way, the best hot dog west of Chicago is found in the SF Bay Area at Caspers and Kaspers. Owned by brothers who divided the family business with a «C» and a «K». New York doesn’t even rate because of weird onion goop and no fresh tomato! I must take issue with the complaints about«cash only». It’s a hot dog. Not a porterhouse steak. There’s an ATM for those who don’t carry $ 5 when seeking an unhealthy meal…

If you looking for a well made fresh hot dog or a steak sandwich, this is still a place to go. The food is as simple and as good as 50 years ago. No thrills decorations, noisy and bubbly, Doghouse remains my favorite lunch spot. My favorive– Chili dog with fried onions.

Every time I drive over the Delaware Memorial Bridge I want a chili cheese dog from The Dog House. I have been coming here for the last 12 years and the food is as fast and delicious as ever. Perfect lunch for any day of the week.

This place is an institution. The Hot Dogs are hot & delicious. It’s cash only with an ATM on site. The seating is counter only, perfect for a lunch by yourself or take out. Large groups may be separated and have to wait during lunch. It’s «The Dog House» after all… so get a dog if you are there, some of the folks on here are getting other stuff and complaining, this joint is about the dogs & fries, plain and simple. I also love that they have malted vinegar at the ready for the fries. Don’t bring a vegetarian.

Solid cheese steak, friendly staff, great value for the price and a nice throw-back feel to the stooled diner vibe, watching them prepare everything right in front of you.

The fries here are good, and the cooks are friendly, as rugged looking as some of then may be. 6 dollar large cheese pizzas(enormous 16″ ones!) and 7 dollar for any extra toppings. The pizza is my favorite thing from the dog house thus far.

5⁄5 on the food, 3⁄5 on the service(a little slow), but very friendly. After hearing so many good things about the Dog House my son and I stopped by for lunch today. It was a time warp back to the 1950’s – very plain, but also kind of cool. We each ordered the chili dog & fries, and I have to say A+ on the food quality. Fresh roll and the dog, chili, onion tasted great! The grill and fresh ingredients are all prepared right in front of you so no worries about a contaminated dirty kitchen in the back(which I worried about since this place is so old). My son tried a small cheese steak and said it was fantastic as well. Will be back again, and yes, it’s cash only, but very affordable.

Like most have warned, this is a cash only place. It’s pretty cut and dry. Long hotdogs, cooked to order on the flat top grill. There’s no frills here, but who needs them when you’re looking for something solid and fast? The staff is fast, friendly and efficient. The hotdogs are ok. Prices are right where they should be.

Love the chili cheese dogs and cheese fries. The only negative is the limited seating capacity. Remember to have cash on hand. ATM inside but high fees.

CASHONLY!!! I just wanted to be sure and alert anyone in advance. I give this place two stars. Although the burger was hot and fresh, it was not what I expected. The burger was not very big. When the cashier asked what I wanted on it, I said«everything».(A picture on the menu showed a burger with lettuce, tomato, onions.) However, the burger I received had NO lettuce or tomato. When I asked about it, the cashier said I have to ask for lettuce and tomato. But I did. I said«everything». Its a «locals only» atmosphere, not a lot of seating. Not very friendly.

The Doghouse has the best cheesesteak anywhere! I have been coming here for years and will always come back! The service is great, the food is well priced and delicious! The only negative is that it’s a cash only business. For convenience, they do have an ATM!

Still as good as ever! Cash only with an ATM in the lobby. Priced right and delicious. The secret is in splitting the hotdogs lengthwise and cooking them. Foot longs only. Burgers and cheese steaks. A few other sandwiches. Assembly line process cranking out deliciousness. No tables only counter stools. Never disappoints!

I’ve been eating foot longs here for since I was a kid. There’s something to be said for nostalgia. I love that you can still count on the place being pretty much exactly the same as it was back then. It has become the same for our kids! The chili cheese dog is our family fave plus a side of those delectable fries that we always add extra of their special seasoned salt to. If you like your dog grilled a little more, you’ll need to speak up or you’ll get it basically warmed through without much char.

The Dog House is one of the hidden gems of Delaware. There’s so much to say about this establishment since it’s been around from the days of my great grandfather. From what I was told, The Dog House was always known as a place to grab a delicious burger, dog, or cheesesteak — and to this day that statement holds true. This is a tiny classic, bar-style seating mom and pop shop. With one row of seating(I’d say 20 seats max) you are part of the family as you watch your meal be prepared right in front of you. I’m not a huge hot dog fan so I always would opt for a cheeseburger or steak when I’d go. Both are fan-freaking-tastic. And for the price, you can’t beat it. You can snag a tasty cheeseburger, fresh french fries, and an ice cold coke for less than ten bucks. I’ve been coming to the Dog House since I was a kid and it’s still as delicious as day one. One thing to note, Dog House is cash only. They have an ATM on site but it has a surcharge. There is a Wawa on the southbound side of Dupont Highway about 30 seconds away and they have no-surcharge ATM’s.
