Great tent camping for $ 15! Lovely people, peaceful sites and warm showers. I got called in to work and left early, so I didn’t have a chance to explore the grounds, but they looked beautiful.

TLDR version: Need a tent site? Call this place. Don’t be scared away by the website. They’re friendly, hospitable, and provide water and a bathroom for a very low price! If you’re bike camping, it’s right off the NCR trail. This place was a surprisingly good find! After bicycling down from Hanover Junction on the NCR trail as part of a longer trip, we were tired and couldn’t find any good camp grounds in the area. Although this place’s website places a strong emphasis on their role as a Christian retreat center, I figured I’d call and check if they had tent sites – they did! Despite some mechanical issues, we made it there around 8PM and found that the camp director, Russell, was expecting us. Although he was busy dealing with a group of 100 kids and their parents, he found time to set us up at a tent site, gave us his cell phone number, and made us feel very welcome. Best of all, the site was $ 15 a night. Coming out of Gettysburg, where the private campgrounds charge $ 35-$ 50 for a tent site, this was an amazing deal. He did warn us that it might be loud due to all the kids, but that wasn’t a problem for me. The tent sites are pretty plain, consisting of a patch of grass, a water hook-up, and a broken electrical outlet, but we didn’t need much more than that. A picnic table would have been nice for food prep, but we found a little platform of boards that we used instead – there were no other tent campers, so there was no competition for the space. The showers took me right back to summer camp as a kid – mismatched shower curtains and wooden walls with old paint(which is a good thing, in my book). I got lucky because the girls were on the other side of the campground, so the ladies’ restroom was just about deserted. Russell told us that they’d like to attract more tent campers, so if you’re headed through this place – pay them a visit!
