This is the best little sandwich and pizza spot I have ever been to, keep in mind that it is a grocery store, a bakery and a place for a bite to eat(a big bite). We discovered this little gem last year at about this same time, we always make a trip up to New Gloucester to view the luscious scenery, fall colors and to pick some apples. We stopped at the store to see if we could pick up a snack and found that they prepare food 7 days a week, they have about 6 rickity tables with unmatched rickity chairs, and even more out doors on the deck in the summer and early fall. The past year I have been working my way through the entire menu which is rather extensive, on Sunday we both have omelets which are as good as any you will find throughout France, not too thin and not the overly puffy type we find in most American popular breakfast spots. Unusual combinations for fillings and all fresh as can be. The French Toast is to die for, thick slices of fresh baked Honey Wheat, eggy and grillled just right. When we have lunch there we usually go around two and make it our dinner also, we seniors no longer eat as hardy as we used to. I’ve had just about every sandwich on the board and keep going back to their superb BLT on fresh Honey Wheat with their house mayonnaise(home made of course). Yesterday, I had the Steak Sandwich with sauteed onions and peppers, muenster, greens, house mayo on Foccocia… out of this world, my husband had the Rueben and we should have just split one sandwich. I think my husband’s favorite meal there in the Steak Salad with a basalmic dressing and a chevre, although his only complaint is that while it’s a huge salad the plate is too small, the first fork full and it’s all over the table! The Grocery store on the first floor is now extended into the basement, where I usually go to pick up my fresh cheeses for the trip home. The eating area is small but there is never wait, people are coming and going and a table always opens. a few times in the summer when we have been sitting at a table for 4 and when someone new comes in looking for a place, we just scoot over and make room and friends in the process, that’s the kind of place it is. You place your order after reading the blackboards, pull you beverage choice out of the refrigerator or pour some fresh coffee, find yourself a seat, one of the cooks finds you and delivers your meal. There are no receipts or tabs just go up to the front tell them what you had and pay, they have a jar for tips.

SUPERCUTE ma and pa restaurant with some delicious breakfast sandwiches. Don’t let the small town Podunk look fool you. People are super nice and the food does not disappoint. I had the egg sandwich with pesto and would not change a thing. Great small town find!

Great pizza and sandwiches with some of the best food around it’s location. Also the staff is wonderful and service is great plus they make the food right out in the open. The prices are not too expensive and you can come here while staying within your budget. I’ve never had a bad experience here and I would definitely recommend coming here!

In New Gloucester trying to find anyplace to eat that was half decent, so I Unilocal and find this place. What an awesome hidden gem we found. Great pizza and awesome Reuben. Nice wine selection. All kinds of down home snacks and homemade quality food items. If you are nearby stop in for the food or to just check it out, you wont be disappointed.

Fresh baked breads, locally sourced honey, wine, sake, beer and sweet treats. This is a place you can go for a snack or a meal. The menu could be set on a roulette wheel and never have a bad meal.

We stopped in for some pizza after multiple recommendations from co-workers and were not disappointed! We opted for a half Congregationalist/half Greek. Both were very tasty. While you wait, you can check out the great store offerings, and very good selection of beer/wine.(Unfortunately, you can’t drink the alcohol inside the store.) I have heard that the breakfast is amazing, so we look forward to checking that out. This place is a true hidden gem.

My husband & I went there for the 1st time today & were very happy with all we bought to bring home: haddock chowder, reuben sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwich with pesto & roasted red peppers, chicken veggie soup, & horseradish. Pickles with our sandwiches were also very good & a little different from the usual. How nice to have such a place here in the boonies! We recommend & will try many more items.

We returned for a second visit to the New Gloucester Village store. One item we ordered by phone was a gluten free pizza. When we arrived to pick it up the store said they didn’t get their supply from the bakery and swore they called me to tell me the situation. Unfortunately my cell phone told a different story with no call attempts so I drove 10 miles and no pizza to be had. They offered to give a free rollup to my friend who needs to have gluten free but I explained that really wouldn’t help our situation. Clearly the owner was not there at the time and the service was not what I had hoped. Here I had brought friends and potential new customers to them and they showed slipshod customer service. Looks like its back to Portland for good pizza again, so sad this place didn’t work out.

I had accidentally stumbled onto the New Gloucester Village Store on a food run one day and decided to peek in and see what they had to offer. I was pleasantly surprised — it had delicious, fresh food with tons of vegetarian options available(not very common in Maine).

Ahhhhh… the breakfast menu. Oh, and the pizza! Oh yeah, the beer! Jeez, don’t forget the homemade breads(cinnamon swirl!). When literally every ingredient is local, then chopped up, put into a hearty sized breakfast burrito, then served to you for under $ 5, you had me at hello! Not to mention their gourmet breakfast menu, but I must. You won’t find a menu like this in any other small town, much less Portland! If fresh, homestyle, and«chunky» great tasting food is your thing, this is where you want to eat!

Being local, this is a place you have to know and stop by for their breads, wine and beer selections along with the other baked goods. The pizza, I would not recommend, just not good. instead try their specials from gumbo to vegetarian chili.

Judy and her son, Sam, run quite a charming little restaurant/market. The food is homemade, filled with the love of the owners, and lovely to look at. Their fresh-baked bread is simply divine. Next time I’m in Maine, you bet I’ll be spending more time here. It’s a true gem.
