Zion is my second favorite National Park, and it’s my favorite place to escape to from Vegas. Kolob Canyon is located in the Northwestern area, and is a separate entrance than the park entrance in Springdale. The area here is just as beautiful as the park we all know so well, but it has an added benefit of not being as busy. There are several trails here, the one we did was Kolob Arch. It was a fantastic day, and a fantastic hike that included running water, wildflowers, squirrels, water coming out of a rock, not to mention, this is a great workout. Quick stats: 14 miles RT 1,100 feet elevation gain Well maintained trail Strenuous due to length of hike Out and back hike Bring 3 liters of water(there is a creek that runs through an area, def need to purify tho) There is a fee to enter(same as the other Nat’l Park fees, $ 25). No permit needed for a day hike, they do have campsites available on the trail if you wish to backpack, but that does require a permit.
