I’m a bit of a BBQ snob… was raised in North Carolina so I also have some regional biases going on, but I got to say I was impressed. I went in thinking the brisket would be good but the pulled pork would be mushy and tasteless, but I kept an open mind and found I actually preferred the pork. Not that the brisket was bad… I just really liked the pork. The owner knows how to impart smoky flavor, though the brisket and my wife’s chicken was a bit dry. I found the sides kind of lacking too(Where’s the corn bread!). Service was very prompt, and I even liked that the owner/smoker came out and made sure everyone was enjoying their meals. I did enjoy myself and a few more attention to details(like maybe some more sauce choices) and this would be a top-notch Q-joint.

Bring your pants with the extra belt loops because the portions are gigantic and the food is really good. This locally-run joint is straight up down home: paper plates, plastic forks and styrofoam cups. But the food is made to order, and the family that owns it clearly is vested in the operation. We scarfed down 3 gigantic plates of food… plus dessert, while we chatted with the locals. Just a great, friendly place in New Harmony.
