Days Inn -New Haven

For the money it is fine. It was clean the beds were very comfortable I stayed 3 nights. ONLY THING is they need to update their tvs very old and the colors were dark and green, other then that not a bad place to stay for its $$ oh and the room phones didn’t work but that’s why it’s 2015 and we have cell phones

A Days Inn is a Days Inn, right? Wrong! The hotel smell of smoke was overwhelming. The phone in out room did not have a receiver with a working connection cable. This was visible obvious, how staff had not noticed and replaced the phone was beyond me. In addition the rooms smoke detector had been torn free from the ceiling leaving exposed wires, the bathroom tub did not look clean, and there appeared to be a bullet hole in the glass of the back door. We tried to spend as little time as possible at the hotel.

A dump! Lights did not work. Toilet water constantly running. Vending machines out of everything. Front desk helpless.
Horrible experience.

As a frequent traveller, we stayed at this hotel impromptu to try other brands, and will not do so in any manner on the future.
It was the only available motel that has a vacancy the late night we arrived in the city as our choices– the upscale ones were already booked.
You get what you pay for– it is not even worth the value for your money– we were so tired and just needed a pit stop for the next day’s journey therefore the stay.
They don’t have customer service (night clerk and the morning clerk on duty in any way no pleasantries, no greetings, smile and courtesies). The night clerk who checked us in issued us keys that wasn’t working so we had to go back and get a new key. She (African American lady employee) went up and saw me going downstairs and said that we were not using the key right and she used her masterkey to open our door. She wasn’t successful in doing so using the keys that she issued. On the first hand she mentioned that I was watching you that’s why I went up. To me, it was an offensive remark that she made like we don’t know how to use that key and she didn’t offer any apology for this inconvenience.
The room needs renovation– bathtub has cracks and warps. Hair all over the rims.
Smell of cigarette stench in the room and towels (not fresh).
The bed linens were filthy not crisp and looked like it was fluffed and recycled from the last few occupants transient of their previous stay. Could tell the difference since the linen was clear on the tucked sides.
They didn’t honor our AAA discount even when confirmed through our reservation at their central office.
Overall there’s poor management here as there was no person who was accountable not a management on duty to oversee the operations and as this is not acceptable and resolved in any way. Employees on duty should be empowered to please their guests
So they would obtain good reviews and make their guests leave happy with at least a satisfied recollection of their visit.
Will not stay or recommend– meritorious of a rating below standards –zero stars!

Good hotel for the money and need! Includes free WIFI and free continental breakfast. We got in about midnight during the Juno storm and went to the room for much needed rest. Will use if nearby in future.
Walmart is right across!

Let’s start from the beginning.
Pulling into the parking lot, the building appears to be what I’d expect for the price point. Not luxurious, but in good repair. Pulling in to our spot, we notice the air condition unit for the room in front of our car is cracked and missing a large piece of its cover. Not a huge deal but tells of things to come.
Entering there is what used to be a place where you’d have to buzz in to get into the actual building, but inside the window is a plant. Looks nice enough though. Going inside, the lobby is small but well maintained. There is an area for the continental breakfast area off to the left.
The guy at the front desk was nice, courteous and found us a room that was ready for us to check-​in to a little early (official check-​in is 3:00pm, we arrived 2:00pm). There is one central hallway through which you access all rooms. The hallway was hot and humid. They were running those floor blowers I’ve seen used to dry out areas with water damage. I’m not sure why – there didn’t seem to be water damage. We got to our room and swiped in with our key card.
The room is nice enough in configuration and amenities – TV, refrigerator, microwave, king bed, and a layout you’d expect in any normal hotel.
Then comes the cleanliness and repair issues. The bed spread has several cigarette burns in it. Inside the nightstand drawer, written in permanent marker was «save healthcare = legalize marijuana.» The air conditioner unit casing was cracked and missing pieces. The drapery over the window was covered in dried droplets of some filth. Same with the wall by the mirror and the back of the bathroom door.
The bathroom had been updated with a new counter, but where the hole for tissues is, there were no tissues, just nothing. There are a dozen other things like this – relatively minor by themselves but together make for a room that is not very clean or attractive.
If cleaned up and maintained properly, this hotel would earn 4 stars in my book for the value. Unfortunately, due to laxities in both, I can’t give it over 2 stars. Look for somewhere with a little more polish.

My mother & aunt stayed here last week, and not only was the hotel rough, the manager was worst. At 4:30am when somebody was trying to enter their room, mom let whoever it was know somebody was in the room, and called the front desk. She then saw the guy run down the hall, and the front desk told her it was a probably a mistake, and to go back to bed. Didn’t send anybody to check on them, did nothing to make them feel secure. A few hours later when they decided to check out and move to The Omni Downtown (a 1000% better), the Days Inn Manager told the 2 grandmothers they were a «pain in the a##». Really? This is how you treat your guess? Never ever again, and I hope the manager say’s the same thing to a Grandmother who’s kids are local at the time. Next time I’m in town, he and I will have a conversation and discover what a «pain in the a##» really is.
Terrible motel is one thing, terrible Customer Service from a manager, CLASSLESS.
Lastly, they got the hotel by bargain shopping on Priceline. When I discovered where they were, I tried to call Priceline to see if they’d work with me on relocating the 2 ladies to a place where they’d be more comfortable. I think the manager called them a «pain in the a??», because of my call to Priceline. Priceline disappointed as well, and will not be used again.

Is what it is. A little cheap motel of the interstate. But on the bright side, it is across the street from Walmart and next door to dunkin donuts lol.

Went here about a decade ago. It was for a small party a friend was throwing. I had a good experience. I actually like the location. It’s about thirty seconds from 91. It’s on a strip with a lot of food for someone in a hurry. The place was clean. The front desk clerk was quiet. I like quiet.

Great place right outside of Yale. Very clean, no bed bugs, and no smell in the air conditioning. They were very nice. Close to a walmart full of microwavable goodies. Their stupid password didn’t work. Kinda shady that they scan your ID.

Nope. Economy hotel, close enough to New Haven to be compelling for those looking to store their sheeit, pay next to nothing and get a night’s sleep. Practically amenity-​free (even the continental bfast is Fruit Loops and brown bananas), it’s fine provided the previous three points are merely met.
Two out of three, with the most imperative durn near impossible sober.
It’s cheap: call for the best rate which, in our case, was $ 70 ($ 85 after tax) for a king size non-​smoking. Yep, there are smoking rooms and the fragrant plumes permeate urrwhere, so if you’ve allergies, just pass. And we could keep our stuff safe; I mean, the locks worked.
But catching any shut-​eye just wasn’t gonna happen. Street racers tore up the main thoroughfare mere paces outside of our window, the air-​conditioners blew a wet, stale breeze indicative of a bad condenser and the mattress felt like it was stuffed with stiffly crumpled newspapers.
A star for price, and a star for proximity. Thassall.

An acceptable, if unremarkable, hotel that is conveniently located a few miles outside of downtown New Haven. Lots of stores around if you need essentials or coffee or whatnot.
The Wi-​Fi didn’t work the night I was here. Big boo.
The guy at the desk made a copy of my driver’s license, which I wasn’t real keen on happening. His explanation for why they do it was unclear.
Also, even though I paid in advance, I got hit up for like $ 1.98 because apparently the tax rate had changed since I had booked the hotel. Thpppt.

My daughter and I needed to find an affordable hotel in New Haven, CT, and happened upon this Days Inn on Foxon Boulevard. The location was ideal as it is centrally located, just literally 10 minutes from downtown New Haven, with a Wal Mart right across the street (a busy ‘highway’) as well as multiple restaurants, fast food places, coffee shops, etc. Registration & checkout each took less than a minute; the room was large, clean, and had the most comfortable king size bed. There was also a complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby, which added value to this already worthwhile stay. Nice place — we’d stay there again for sure.
