King Falafel

Closed, ie the place is no longer open for business. I guess Unilocal’s algorithm doesn’t understand when a business ceases to exist and closes its doors to customers.

I ordered a slice of pizza… and they took a slice from a refrigerated, saran-​wrapped pizza, and then MICROWAVED it.
So of course the whole thing was flabby and sponge-​y, and cold in places. It was pretty impressively bad.

I always get into trouble when I go to King Falafel… probably because I always went with the same group of people. I won’t say they’re better than Mamoun’s, but I will say that they are more expensive and that their portions are bigger.
The selection though, is much better. They’re really fun and friendly, they accept credit cards and they’re always open late.

I went here a couple of times when I was looking to do something other than the pizza or burger thing. Honestly, it was pretty disappointing. I had been eating really awesome falafel in parts of Western Europe on a backpacking trip, so I was sort of hoping that it would be comparable, and, well, it just… wasn’t.
Was I spoiled? Maybe. What the hell do I know, anyway.
I mean, overall, you could do worse, but it wasn’t that satisfying.
On a separate note, I do enjoy ripping Claire’s whenever possible, and King Falafel is definitely better than Claire’s Corner Crapia.

+ much more conveniently located for the everyday kid, and also the weekend/​crown street frequenters (as opposed to, say, mamoun’s).
+ workers are always friendly and will chat it up as you wait for your order
+ i’ve never ordered their baklava, but i’ve seen it. and it’s HUGE!
+ as a visual learner, i think it’s nice that they have pictures of their food

— i walk by in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings, and they appear to have the most sporadic, random hours ever. although i’m sure they’re more reliably open late at night.

it’s in a good location, and a good solution for a meal when you just want to grab something easy and cheap-​ish. i come here every so often, but it’s definitely not one of my «must-​hit-​up» spots.
