So truth be told, I couldn’t find the Mexicali Food Truck but there were so many choices, I decided to let Unilocal guide me. Glad I did. Got the tacos al-pastor here and there were delicious. Good spices, seasoned potatoes. It really had it all. And for about $ 3 you get TWO. A great value. Service was quick and the food was perfect for a food truck.

We pretty much disliked everything we tried. Unfortunate. We have had amazing Al Pastor and theirs just wasn’t up to snuff. Perhaps they had an off day.

Yummy! Went up on their prices, but this truck is amazing! Al pastor my favorite, tastes just like the tacos in TJ!!! Now they come with those yummy soggy looking french fries, but they’re spicy and delicious!

I hit this truck every time I go down there. There are usually 5 tacos trucks here, but this is the only one that serves CHORIZO tacos in addition to the standard asada and pastor, etc. Like the others, they are now up to $ 1.50…well worth it!

Dear Lord, Thank you ever so much for allowing me to devour the stupendous Al Pastor Tacos from Santa Apolonia Taco Truck today. You know how much I enjoy authentic Mexican food and this was definitely the real deal. The spice, the cilantro, the delicately seasoned potatoes on the side, all made me want to shout, «Oh Happy Day!» The most incredible part was that each taco was only $ 1.50! Oh joy! Oh rapture! What’s even better, my food was made expeditiously and with a smile. Best Regards, Your Humble Servant

Well, the truck didn’t look like much but the Tacos were super. My Taco Quest brought be here to one of the other trucks before but thought I’d give Santa A a try this time. 3 Tacos al Pastor later I was convinced that you can’t judge a taco truck by its cover — so to speak. Tortillas were nicely warmed, filling was grilled while I waited, onion and cilantro were fine. The green sauce that came with it was adeqaute. These tacos were filled to overflowing and for $ 4.50 I was pleasantly stuffed. The al Pastor had a nice flavor and some bits of pinapple for authenticity. So which truck to try next time…

Not. Enough. Stars. Available! Not only is the long warf taco truck scene blossoming into beautiful awesomeness full of choices but its also a great place to get some cheap, wonderful food. If I could find a way to review the guy who sells tamales out of the trunk of his car I would, suffice to say — go there now, buy tamales out of the trunk of his car you will not be disappointed. Of all the trucks at Long Warf, Santa Apolonia is by far the best. How can I make such a claim? Simple, they are and I dare you to prove me wrong. Out of all the trucks there, they are one of the only that I know of that cooks their meat to order. Every taco, every burrito, every quesadilla is cooked individually, not scooped out of a container and reheated. Thats a big deal to me, you can taste the love. Its important to mention that while all the other trucks have started charging up to $ 1.50 per taco, Santa Apolonia has stayed a reasonable and recession conscious $ 1.00 per delicious taco. But lets get to the meat of the matter, the crown jewel of Santa Apolonia if you will: The Quesadilla. Thats right, its not the humble taco that draws me to their truck like a moth to flame, its the quesadilla. This behemoth contains the meat of your choice(cooked to order!) with cheese, sauteed onions, hand cut french fries(!!!HOLYCRAP!!!), sauteed jalapenos, and sauteed cactus. All this for a measly $ 7.00! What? I try to switch it up every once in a while so I dont burn out on these quesadillas and Ill get a burrito here or a torta there but I always end up staring longingly at Santa Apolonia, wishing I was with her, enjoying that wonderful quesadilla. My only complaint/suggestion? If you own this truck and are reading this — I love your food, youre the best. Now please go buy a fridge that works so we can get cold sodas instead of tepid Jarritos – Edit: To stay with the times, Santa Apolonia has begun to charge $ 1.50 per taco, but to offset the increase in price, they include deep fried potatoes and fried jalapenos along side each taco. More than worth it! Also, I should admit that I have begun to appreciate their burrito. Ill go so far as to say that they are the best burritos on Long Warf. I posted a photo, you really need to try one.
