Delivery is pretty fast! If you want sushi late at night order from here, the rolls were ordered tasted pretty fresh thumbs up!

The $ 20 all-you-can-eat is a great deal! The fish was fresh and the green tea ice cream was delicious. But this place was sooo empty, how do they stay in business? Do they cook ???

Quality of food is actually 4/5, the fish was fresh, edible and for the most part not stuffed in rice. Selection of menu is not bad, there are kitchen items and sushi items– pretty neat especially if there are folks who don’t like raw fish and stick to the california rolls/kitchen items make it a better deal. The restaurant is huge, but partitioned off– poor use of space in my opinion if you go back to the bathroom you’d understand. Place is clean, needs some tlc. Service is where the review falls on, theres 1 sushi chef, 1 waitress, and 1 chef in kitchen(which i’m sure the waitress jumps in) orders can take 30 minutes and thats with no one else in the restaurant(yes the whole joint to yourself!), issue lies with understaffing and what appears to he heavy delivery orders; which appears to be done by a third party company, so agents are fighting with the sushi chef, while eating meal. Was only able to order 1 round, second would’ve taken to long. Waitress was nice!

Both the food and service were good. The time it took to seat us and give our orders was better than many other AYCE sushi places I know — and the AYCE menu includes a bunch of special rolls, not just regular ones. Free self-serve ice cream in the back! Honestly the only thing Anaya’s has over this is the distance — and it’s not even much of a difference.

This was the most tasteless, mushy, disappointing sushi experience I have ever had. It’s never a good sign when all of your delivery items are the same temperature, from fried calamari to fresh spicy tuna rolls. But that’s exactly what I experienced when I ordered delivery from Sushi Mizu a couple of days ago. I got about $ 60 worth of rolls, including that gross tuna, the poorly-assembled marble roll, the sludgy dragon roll and a yellow salmon roll that was supposed to be made with tuna, not salmon. Oops. Didn’t realize the ingredients in various sushi rolls could be swapped at the random will of the restaurant. I felt physically ill all night after eating just one piece from each roll. On top of that, the restaurant refused a refund, as we had eaten some of the food! How else was I supposed to find out if the stuff was palatable, even? Rude staff, terrible product, but you can get delivery at 1am. That is, if you want to spend your entire morning crouched over the toilet. Me thinks not…

I dined in here years ago when I first moved to New Haven. Very obscure and hidden place. Nothing flashy about it. Was pleasantly surprised by the fast service and tasty sushi. Fast forward and earlier this evening had a delicious spicy tuna roll. Amazing and fresh. Should have gotten two! Will have to take a second look at this place and order more regularly

I know a lot of the bad reviews are for the delivery, but this is for eating in. I know asian restaurants generally aren’t known for friendliness, but I’ve just never experienced so much as a smile here. Eating here felt like a business — get your slips in, get your food, leave. I don’t even know what the rolls I got were, and I have a suspicion they just didn’t include some rolls that I had included on the list. But I wouldn’t have known because no one bothered to tell me what each one was.

Delivery definitely, as other reviewers have pointed out, sucks. It normally takes about an hour but one night it took three hours. I called, was given the runaround like many others have gotten, was reassured that it would arrive soon and that they would take 15% off of my order. Did I ever see this discount? Did I even believe it?! I tried to. I was so hungry that I agree to whatever they said they were going to do just so they would give me my food. Extra star because the all-you-can-eat sushi is relatively cheap and edible.

This wasn’t the most spectacular sushi, but decided to order it for delivery because I was exhausted and didn’t feel like cooking. Unlike some other reviewers on here, I didn’t have any issues with delivery — it was actually really fast for me(I think it got here in about 25 minutes). The sushi itself was very bland. I got a shrimp tempura roll, avocado roll, and spicy salmon roll. The salmon was a little… questionable. I didn’t get sick from it, but not the best tasting salmon I’ve had. I also ordered shrimp shumai and pork gyoza. The gyoza and shumai were very clearly the kind you get in the frozen aisle at any Asian market, which was a little disappointing. What’s more disappointing is that these pre-made foods were better than the sushi. Bland food, but quick delivery. Probably wouldn’t order from here again unless I was desperate.

This is a relatively hidden gem in New Haven where I like to go to with my wife when we’re in the mood for sushi. We usually get all you can eat sushi, and it’s about $ 20 and it includes free appetizers and ice cream(the green tea one is the best). We mostly get some appetizers, a lot of sashimi and ice cream. The sashimi is always very fresh — much fresher than anywhere else I’ve tried in New Haven -, while the rolls are also good(the poison ivy roll is pretty awesome, tempura chicken inside, seaweed outside, has a really nice layered texture). The service is always really good and friendly, and the waitresses who takes our order is always extremely nice. The place is very large and family-owned, so it’s usually pretty quiet even when there are many customers around, which makes for a pretty nice intimate atmosphere.

I wish I could put 0 stars to be honest. I read other reviews and being stupid I ordered it to be delivered anyway. 1st: the lady on the phone that was taking my order charged me $ 45 for two orders of California rolls and a shrimp tempura roll. Okay let’s say each California roll is $ 4.00… That’s $ 8.00. And let’s say the shrimp tempura roll is $ 12.00. That’s $ 20.00. I get with tax or whatever maybe it would come to $ 26 at most… But 45? Really? Must’ve tried to pocket it. 2nd: Not only did it take over an hour and ten minutes to come, but the driver smelled like straight WEED. So my sushi was sitting in your smoked up car while you drove around? Do your thing, but not with other people’s food in the car. That’s not right. 3rd: Finally! I walk back to my door and open the bag, um what is this? they got the California rolls correct, but where the hell is my shrimp tempura roll? I called them back and asked where my food is? They gave me something in a pink wrap with I don’t even know what in it. I told them this isn’t what I ordered. She was polite about it and said she will send the driver back with the correct food. 45 mins for that one. Ugh Never again Crappy sushi & terrible business. If your in New Haven looking for good sushi, go to Kumo. They don’t deliver but it’s absolutely outstanding.

I’m a big sushi junkie and the sushi here was good and some were soso. Didn’t care for the shumai or the udon but the sushi was good. Surprisingly the plain maki rolls were better than I expected and their speciality rolls are addictive !

Steer clear of Sushi Mizu! I ordered sushi through . I ordered for ASAP delivery(it’s an option) at 7:12PM on a Thursday night. I called at 7:45PM to check on the status of my order. The people working gave me the run around and then finally the girl on the phone claimed she JUST got the order only 10 minutes ago and that it would be another 20 minutes, which was no problem for me. At 8:30ish, I called again because I was still waiting, for what was now over an hour and fifteen minutes. The man who answered said it would be another 5 minutes. I reminded him that I ordered a long time ago to which he had no response or care. At 8:50, my food was finally delivered. It should be noted that I was less than 2 miles away from this establishment and the sushi sucked!!! Do not fall into this delivery trap!!!

Ordered at 7:17, call at 7:33 asking if they got the order. They tell me it should arrive in an hour. Call at 8:33, they give me the«we forgot» voice and say I have to wait another hour. Order some doughnuts and a drink from another restaurant, gets here 40min later… Call back Mizu at 9:33, they don’t pickup… Call back Mizu at 9:40, Line busy Call back Mizu at 9:45(mind you they close @ 10), Line busy Call back Mizu at 9:57, «it’s on the way» It’s 10:21, finally arrived. Not even close to what I expected, took me a while to figure out what this white liquid was(melted ice cream). If you read all of this… just don’t =

It’s just painful when you get discriminated by people from the same racial group. I went there twice, first time with my ‘white’ friend and the other time with group of chinese student. At the first time, despite the bottom 10% quality sushi, this place was okay especially it’s a buffet restaurant. The second time when I went there, after ordering couple of rounds, the owner came to us shamelessly and specifically told us in Chinese(while other white customer sitting nearby),“This sheet is your last order, each table is limited to 5 sheet”. Are you kidding me? There’s nothing like this you have told us or posted on the wall? Plus, isn’t this a all-you-can-eat buffet as written every where in your restaurant? It just make me feel so angry especially the owner is either taiwanese or chinese(not japanese definitely). If you support a non-discrimitive enviroment. DON’T GO!

Ugh. It was late and I was hungry, so I ordered Sushi Mizu delivery. I have never eaten here, but the reviews were decent enough and I was craving some vegetable tempura. My roommate joked that I was«brave,» because apparently Yale had catered an event once with Sushi Mizu and everyone became ill. «Yale Health was backed up for a week.» I shrugged it off as a fluke. Everything I ordered was vegetarian and cooked, so I thought I was in the clear. The food arrived, after about an hour. The vegetable tempura was actually pretty good. Standard issue. The sweet potato roll was soggy and tasteless, and lukewarm. Meh. The tofu teriyaki(or the other tofu entrée, I can’t remember) was completely awful. SILKEN tofu, with a mushy tasteless doughy coating, with half raw sautéed onions with absolutely no seasoning. I couldn’t eat it. Fast forward to today. Woke up feeling puffy from the overly salty dinner. Expected, I supposed, from most Asian takeout. Then around 11am it started. I became violently ill, for hours. The only thing I ate different from my normal diet was takeout from Sushi Mizu, so I have no doubt of the cause. The fact that everything I ordered was cooked terrifies me. What are the conditions in that kitchen that bacteria is able to breed and stay in my food after being FRIED?! I shudder to imagine. Never again. Never, never again.

I have only ordered Sushi Mizu from GrubHub, so cannot say much with respect to a dining experience at the restaurant itself. But what I would say is that the fish they use is suspect and after getting sick eating it last week, I won’t be ordering from them again. First of all, I ordered a salmon avocado roll that never showed. Grubhub was nice enough to refund me. I also ordered a yellowtail-scallion roll and a chirashi bowl(sashimi over a bed of sushi rice). None of the fish was fresh. I should’ve stopped eating it but I was hungry so made the mistake of persevering. Their albacore tuna was lightly seared in a way that felt like they were covering up an expiration date. The yellowtail sashimi in the chirashi was also poorly sliced and hacked to death. The ikura(salmon roe) I ordered was reminiscent of a gluey taste. I spent the next day in pain because of how bad the sushi was. If you’re looking to order sushi and have it delivered, I’d opt for Sono Bona instead.

Disgusting waitress! «If you don’t finish your food we will charge you extra.» Imagine hearing this from this waitress each and every time you’re ordering something. Try it and you’ll know I’m not exaggerating.

I’ll review this place for what it is instead of complaining about the surroundings. It’s UNLIMITEDSUSHIIIIIII! Lol and that’s the part that gets the highest rating. The sushi is good. I can’t see it wanting to leap off my plate and jump back into the ocean anytime soon but I’m not a sashimi or nigiri fan anyhow. The stuff on the kitchen menu comes out sloooooow! And on super tiny plates. Service leaves me in tears. The staff is an absolute disaster. Our waitress took forever to bring us the menus. She also kept trying to press us to all order regular food instead of doing the buffet. Apparently they were going to be busier than expected and she might not be able to cater to us. She also said the same thing to the table next to us and restricted them to ordering once. What kind of device is that? And on a side note, the giant crowd she was expecting turns out to be two full tables that came an hour later. Our food came out randomly and she didn’t attempt to clear anything off the table. Things were just piled on top of each other, and piled here is putting it nicely. A lot of things were rather unceremoniously dumped onto each other. I couldn’t keep track of the rolls we ordered but I did notice that one of my friends’ garden salad never came. All in all the terrible service is bearable because I love sushi. If you’re in it for a memorable dinig experience, then don’t bother. Also, bring a jacket. It’s cooooold!

The sushi is fresh and made to order. Our tuna in the tuna and avocado roll was a nice fresh red color and not that day old orange color. I really enjoyed the roll with spicy tuna inside and crab salad on top. I wouldn’t go for the peanut roll however as the dried peanuts and avocado just didn’t mesh well. However, they(and other Unilocalers agree) will forget(or purposefully leave out?) part of your sushi order. While this was a huge con, I guess you can just ask for another ordering sheet and ask for the rolls you did not get the first time around as it is all you can eat afterall. Too bad I was too full by then to do this. We did get every single one of the kitchen menu items that we ordered which are the usual sushi buffet fare of tempura, gyoza, soup, salad, etc. The tempura is great, though not hard to mess up. I like that they serve tempura zucchini. The tempura fish was good too. The fried calamari is frozen pre-made fried calamari and is too chewy. Do not get it. Their location is great and convenient to downtown though and I will probably give them another try in the future… next time i’ll order sushi in smaller amounts and see what happens. FYI There is a huge room in the back for parties.
