The bakery is the star of this establishment. No question about it. Delicious, fresh baked bread with a huge selection. I am actually eating their whole wheat bread smothered in butter as I type. They also have delicious ready-made pizza dough. The prices for most things are comparable to other supermarkets, but they do have deals often. It’s worth mentioning(to me at least) that they’ve been incorporating a nice selection of craft beers to their beer aisle. I’m game for that. Employees are nice and friendly. I’ve been asked if I needed help a bunch of times while roaming the aisles. The cashiers bag your groceries, and I rarely wait on line at all. For all the above reasons and more, Met(now Foodtown) is a necessary stop for me 1 – 3 times a week. If anything, go for the bread! 1 dollar for 2 huge delicious ciabatta loaves.

I think Met Foods has a really interesting selection, and I noticed a lot of ‘exotic’ foods, which is great when I want to test my culinary prowess. A bit cramped so try to avoid peak hours. Very big parking lot though.

The Bakery section in here is really good. Love that you can pick the Taralli’s you want yourself. Olive ones delcious! the guys at the deli are always very friendly! German potato salad is really good!

Wow. I really wouldn’t be surprised if «Tony K» from Roslyn Heights is affiliated with Bell Foods in some way. They’re practically writing a full page ad for the supermarket on ANOTHER store’s page. By the way, i’ve been to Bell Foods, and their prices aren’t by any means cheap. The bottom line with Met is that while it’s rough around the edges in appearance, there are plenty of redeeming qualities for a quick visit to pick up a few things. For one, I find it laughable that people are criticizing the service. Yes, most of the employees speak spanish, but i’ve never had a problem with them understanding english. The service at the deli specifically is impeccable, and they keep their boars head coldcuts as fresh as you could ask for. I’m sure i’m not the only one who gets irritated by slow deli service. The prepared salads(tuna, chicken salad, etc) are decent, as well as the roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella balls. As for the cashiers, they’re all friendly, QUICK, and they bag your groceries for you. It’s safe to say that there’s some prejudicial feelings in the 2 negative reviews. Like I said, Met is great for a quick shopping trip. Their prices are so-so, but they’ll always have decent sales on different items from week to week. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, they have fresh baked loafs of bread, semolina rolls, onion rolls, etc daily for great prices. I don’t want to get into a comparison with bell foods throughout this review, so i’ll just say that their bakery doesn’t even come close to Met’s in quality. They also have a self serve coffee maker for 75 cents a cup, which is decent for what you’d expect. If you care about the incentives I mentioned above(great service, excellent bakery and deli), I’d highly recommend Met.

Be the trouble you want to see in the world. My grandparents’ supermarket of choice, this establishment reeked of a bakery pushing old product. The entrance is awkward and foreboding, and everyone crawls through the aisles, employees not excluded. Each section reeks of a different, distinct fragrance… not a good trait. Met Foods prefers to staff some people who cannot work the register to stock the already-full shelves; this over-saturation of staff generates long lines that never move. Less product will fly off the shelves if people walk out like I did, eliminating the need to employ ANY of these people. Cleansed of vitriol and full of optimism, I readied a purchase but the stagnant line set me off; eventually I just walked out. Gimme Bell Foods or H Mart or anywhereee over the stalemate of a line they let form here.

This Met Food has been here for quite a while and doesn’t get enough credit. Prices are generally higher at this supermarket, but sometimes you can score some great deals. The best thing to come here is for their freshly baked bread which is superb and priced right. If you don’t believe me, come check it out for yourself. Try to time coming early in the morning when the bread is fresh out of the oven.
