I’ve lived right by this deli for so many years and have never took the opportunity to try their pizza that I had heard about. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be good, but just like my fellow Unilocaler said, I saw the place featured on «Restaurant Hunter» and realized I should give it a try. When I went in, the back of the deli has a cute, little pizza parlor-look with pieces of wood on a shelf and a tiny display window with a few slices of pizzas already made. Coincidently, I also ended up with the same slices(chicken bruschetta and a margherita slice) as my fellow Unilocaler. The margherita slice was relatively tasty, especially in the spots of fresh mozzarella, though I wasn’t blown away by their sauce. As for the chicken bruschetta slice, that was a great combination of flavors and one I would order again. They have several other great-sounding pizzas and with this location so close, I’ll have to go back again to try them.

After watching«Restaurant Hunters» which features local Long Island restaurants, we decided to stop by and pick up pizza for lunch. We ordered a bruschetta and a margarita slice that were heated up in their brick oven and ready in about 5 minutes. They also had a nice selection of Italian meats, cheeses, and premade foods. Not as large as Ivarone Market, but a great family owned store with specialty items. The pizza was on par with many pizza restaurants on long island(such as close by Umbertos) and is a must try in the area!

Food is really good. Everything fresh & delicious. Most Delis I go to DONOTADDTAX it’s already built into the price. I find this and the high prices they charge bothersome. Workers are fine but it feels like the problem is the owner who is NOT big on customer service. It’s too bad because. the place is clean and the food is really good.

Great Italian market. Felt like o stopped into a little store in Rome. Extremely friendly staff, wonderful sausage pizza. Will be going back

Got the Godfather sandwich there, it was somewhat mediocre given how overly chewy the bread was. I’d say the food does not stand out compared to the hundreds of other italian delis in the region, it’s not horrible but its probably a tad more expensive. What they make up for in lack of quality is quantity, the sandwich is huge! The okay food is not enough though for me to have given this place a 1 star review(which I have never done until now), but rather because of the behaviors of the disgruntled elderly lady who works there seemed annoyed at my presence when I was paying for the food. Of note, the people actually making the food were very friendly. When she gave me an iced coffee the lid was leaking coffee which got on my tie, and when I returned to simply ask for a napkin she couldn’t be bothered, and brusquely directed me to bathroom instead of just giving me a damned napkin. I’m sure times are tough but they don’t have to be stingy with their napkins for god’s sake! There are TONs of cute Italian delis in Long Island with great food and warm service, but this certainly is not one of them.

This Deli is absolutely amazing. I went in there today and had the best panini I have ever eaten in my life! The guys there are super friendly! I was chatting with one of the very friendly guys by the brick oven in the back and he suggested this panini. Told it me would«rock my socks off» and he was so right! Everything was fresh and delicious. I cant say enough about this place. Check it out for yourself!

I love this place. Everything tastes fresh and the portions are generous. Also — the staff is really nice, I sometimes feel like staying on the phone and chatting with them simply because they’re so personable. I DO recommend!!!

Pizza is amazing! Always done perfect. We are very particular with the way we like it cooked, we call ahead. The deli guys are friendly and helpful and the cashier is so sweet. A must visit if in NHP ! The guy who makes the pizza is a rock star! Perfecto!

Okay food and it’s clean but the prices are way too high. Way too expensive for a deli. It’s a okay place. If you’re bored of eating everything else and have extra fee bucks

Who cares about the prices… I always order the DeNiro hero sandwich and for the massive size of it the price seems normal. Owner is a nice guy and they are good for catering too. Piccolo is pretty much the only bright spot in that rundown strip.

Where do I start, first I ordered a turkey sandwich on a roll with lettuce an mayo w a side potato salad. Including a drink it came out to be 15.75 that’s crazy. On top of my over priced sandwich the bread was stale! I opened the sandwich to find left over side scraps of meat in between that turned me off big time I moved on to the potato salad that was disgusting and bland! Never again for that price what a ripoff.

Located on Hillside Ave near New Hyde Park Road, the Piccolo Gourmet looks easy to miss, but the quality of their food speaks volumes. I randomly came here one day to pick up lunch. My co-worker told me that this place was good so I decided to order a sandwich. I picked The Godfather, which includes Prosciutto, Salami, Ham Cappy, Pepperoni, Provolone, Lettuce/Tomatoes, Roasted Red Peppers, Oil & Vinegar.(Roll — $ 6.95, Hero — $ 7.95) As I looked around the deli, I see a lot of delicious looking snacks. In fact, everything looked fresh and delicious. I almost bought some cookies. The staff there was friendly and the establishment looked clean. It seems Piccolo Gourmet specializes in catering and provides many choices in catering. I took the sandwich back to work and ate it there. It was very delicious. The only thing stopping me from coming back is my laziness to drive and my frugal tactics to not spend the gas and time to go pick up lunch. According to the website, they offer free delivery for orders $ 20 and up. PROS: Deliciously fresh sandwiches CONS: None!

I go here probably once or twice a week for lunch. Try the paninis, they’ll heat them up for you in the wood-fired oven while you wait. Delicious! Ask for a side of marinara if you like. Also pick up some fresh Italian sausage and a jar of Michael’s marinara sauce of your way out, it’s probably the best sauce I’ve ever tasted.

I work in the area and stumbling upon Piccolo was a great find! They have daily lunch box specials which are under $ 7 for a sandwich, side & a drink. Can’t get better than that. Their specialty pizzas are awesome! Fresh ingredients & light crispy crust. Haven’t had a complaint on the panini or hero either.

Still going strong. We had stopped using Piccolo for delivery since they were always unreliable about when they would actually show up — BUT — they have apparently remedied that problem and are now showing up when requested. I’v never gotten a bad meal or take out from this place — it is plain and simply good. Prices are a bit steep — but you won’t feel like you were ripped off. Parking is still an issue but worth the hassle.
