Select Pediatrics

So far so great. Expecting my first child I did what any crazy first time mom would do and researched and interviewed Pediatricians during my last trimester of pregnancy.
The staff at Select Pediatrics were very courteous in setting me up with a consult with whichever doctor I preferred. I know how group practices work so I wanted to be flexible and open to seeing any of the doctors in the practice. I met with Dr Herko for my consult and it was great. This clearly wasn’t her first rodeo because she answered all of my questions before I even asked, gave me a tour of the office, introduced me to the other doctors/​staff, etc.
When I gave birth I informed the hospital that Select Pediatrics was my doctors office and by Day 2 (and everyday throughout my stay) Doctors Herko or Hawkins came to visit my little one in the hospital. They examined her, answered any questions me and my husband had, etc.
A few days after discharge we had our first visit and since I have a newborn the staff ushered me right into an exam room as as soon as I arrived. Dr Hawkins was warm and courteous as always.
Aside from the great doctors/​staff some of the other things I appreciate about Select Pediatrics are the parking lot, Saturday appointments, and well/​sick waiting areas.
I look forward to continuing to bring my daughter here.

No complaints. Good hours great doctors friendly staff. I love Dr. Aspenald and Dr. Parris. They are always so friendly to the children and sensitive to my questions as a first time mom.

This is my three kids’ pediatrician’s office. Dr Herko is our main dr but since they have walk in urgent care from 8−9am m-​f, we have seen all the other doctors in the practice. If you get first morning appt or first appt after lunch there isn’t a wait. Other than those times, there tends to be a wait as each appt that pushes out of time will cause you to lag behind. I don’t really fault them too much since any dr I see, I experience the same thing. Staff is always pleasant and helpful. Either way, we really love Dr Herko so we wouldn’t consider anywhere else. Kids feel comfortable with her and so do I.

WARNING! If you have a baby at LIJ North Shore do not let a doctor from this practice visit your newborn. The doctor was one of the worst I have ever seen and their billing practices are one of the shadiest things I have ever seen. 2 YEARS after the birth of my daughter I started receiving bills from this practice for over $ 200. When I asked the billing person why it took over 2 years to send me a bill he refused to answer my question. Because they waited so long to send me the bill my insurance company refused to pay it. They then sent the $ 260 bill to a collection agency. I then received a barrage of threatening phone calls from the collection agency. Bad doctors and shady billing. Stay away!!!
