Surprisingly good. I’ve passed by Jimmy D’s many times on a trip between NYC and Manchester, VT. This time, I opted to pop in as the timing to eat was right. The service was excellent and attentive. I ordered a greek salad which was surprisingly good. The feta was crumbled over the salad rather than being served in chunks. The olives actually had pits! Good job. Dressing was on the side and the onions were not overwhelming. I like the pepperoncini on top — even though they always squirt and get all over me. My entrée was the chicken souvlaki. The chicken was cooked well and not dry. The tzaziki was a little too yogurty. It needed more lemon, cucumber and dill and was too runny — needed to be thicker. The pita was very doughy, almost like it needed to be grilled more. Still, it was good, not as great as the salad. They have a great selection of burgers, pizza and pasta — it’s not a full diner menu like you would expect. Still worth stopping in as the people were great, food was great and the prices were right.

Yum. Their homemade Greek dressing is delicious. The burger was juicy and the bun nice and buttery. It is a reasonable diner. However, unlike most diners you can’t get breakfast anytime of the day and that is great food order from a diner.

Wonderful food, great service, fun place to eat and relax and enjoy. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. Do not miss the Greek Royale White Pizza to die for. The casseroles are great too and if they Moussaka you gotta have some, either Jimmy or Ellen made it and it is the bomb! The best Osso Bocco as well. Never had a bad meal and always felt welcome thru the doors. Jimmy makes the dressing himself as well, so good you could just cry when you taste it.

If you like Greek Salad this is definitely the place to have it. The large one is ENOURMOUS and beyond delicious. In fact, whatever you order at this Greek Diner type restaurant will likely satisfy your appetite. Jimmy and his staff are welcoming and friendly giving this place a true hometown flavor. Prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. If you’re traveling on Routes 20⁄22 through New Lebanon, perhaps to or from Vermont, and you’re hungry or just want a cup of coffee and a piece of pie stop at Jimmy D’s. You won’t be sorry! Incidentally, I am a local and have been patronizing this wonderful place for more years than I can remember.

Very good food and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the fried zucchini, corned beef reuben, and the gyro. All were excellent — particularly the gyro, I’m pretty sure the tzatziki was homemade.

Alright, local here. Mind you, I’ve traveled quite a bit and I grew up here. The food is pretty decent. It’s a diner, so what more can you expect? Depending on who you get, the waitresses can either be amazing or fairly horrible. The place used to have a bunch of awesome waitresses, but they’ve left and moved on over time. This isn’t really a town you stay in. It’s kind of a town you pass through, so you can’t blame them for leaving. The restaurant is run by a very nice, Greek family. That said, it really is a Greek restaurant and if you want the best food they have to offer, it’s the Greek food. The Greek salad is very good. It’s a bit soggy, but that’s because of the oils and olives put into it. The cheese is my favorite part of that salad. Personally, I don’t really order anything here except the pizza. We usually order the Royale. It’s always the same every time. It’s hearty, wholesome, and not very expensive. If you want a nicer, fancier restaurant, go to Mario’s. This is a diner. Expect diner-quality and don’t complain about it on Unilocal if you don’t get 5-star service or 5-star quality food.

We were seated quickly and the server was friendly and attentive. The food was not consistent at all. The chicken wings were the fattiest I have ever had. It looked like I was leaving meat on the bones, but it was all fat and gristle. When I asked for ranch dressing instead of blue cheese, I was told they don’t have ranch dressing. Not a big deal, but another straw on the camel’s back. The Jimmy D’s souvlaki was«ok» according to my wife. The pizza was pretty decent, although extremely greasy and the crust was a little on the tasteless side. The tables are ridiculously close to each other. I know everything about the family that was sitting next to us, as well as the family sitting kitty-corner to us… and they weren’t loud talkers.

Last weekend my wife and I decided to hit the farmers markets near our home in east greenbush ny. After our lovely day at the market we stopped into a nice looking place called Mario’s but they were booked. Our next stop down the road was this sad looking place called Jimmy D’s restaurant. I immediately had my doubts but the family was hungry so we went in anyway. Just walking in the front door we noticed an array of what I would call cheap walmart style cardboard decorations hanging from the ceiling everywhere birds, stars and whatever else. We stood at the door before being greeted for maybe 3 to 4 minutes. Absolutely nobody acknowledged our presence even though there were at least 2 – 3 waitresses in our immediate vicinity??? Being a Saturday you would expect the restaurant to be packed but there were only a scattered amount of tables in the entire restaurant. Finally we were seated and greeted by elderly waitress who might or might not have been missing quite a few teeth… Country bumpkin indeed. We ordered an appetizer of potato skins a couple of waters and my wife ordered a corona. When the waitress brought us the corona she served it to my wife with a warm water glass? I guess chilling a pint glass is too much to ask for? Our potato skins arrived and were typical 1990’s style run-of-the-mill potato skins… When ordering or meal our questions about our salads and there different dressing choices seemed to be annoying our waitress. I ordered the chicken parmesan my wife ordered fish and chips both came with a salad. When the salads came it was your basic premade iceberg red onion cucumber salad no tomatoes? Finally the main event our dinners came after repeatedly giving my wife and I back our dirty silverware with each course, instead of replacing it with clean silverware… ugh GROSS! ! Anywho, my wife’s fish and chips was obviously just frozen garbage but my chicken parmesan was truly a master piece of total crap. The pasta in which it was served with had a lack of any oil or butter just basically dry pasta thrown on a plate… The chicken itself was completely and totally unacceptable. It was so dry and tough I couldn’t even chew it. It literally tasted like rubber. When I gave it to the waitress she sent it back and gave it to her owner who took a bite of it told her it was a fantastic she came back to my table and share that information with me after I had already told her how disgusting it really was? At this point I wanted to see the waitress and this owner sit down and share it, watch them as they tried to chew this piece of crap that they served me. Not only did the chef or the owner not approach my table and apologize, they had the nerve to tell me that it’s one of their most popular dishes and that there was nothing wrong with it… I’ve been working in the restaurant industry for close to 25 years in some of the best restaurants on the East Coast. I understand the«hole in the wall» concept but their complete lack of love for fresh food would keep me away from this place forever, and I would suggest you do the same… Disrespectful disgusting laughable and tacky.

We had a large group, so we had a good sampling of their menu. The food served varied from superb to inedible(stuffed shrimps or fish). The usual diner food turned to be safe choices(fish & chips, cheeseburger, fried clams, etc). The staff was friendly and attentive, otherwise it would have been two stars.

This was a quintessential midwest 50’s diner. All four of our party enjoyed their meals with big portions. The omelet was stuffed with ingredients and the pancakes were IHOP worthy.

Diner food at its worst. Hubby’s burger was a hockey puck. Ordered a grilled chicken wrap and asked for honey mustard. No honey mustard! Kiddo ordered a pizza. Looked liked the ones out of the box from Costco. He liked it though. Pass this place once a year on our way home from vt. Will not be returning next summer.

Brought the family of 8 to dinner on 29 Aug 12. Nice atmosphere, really enjoyed the Greek frescos and decorations. Everyone had something different; 1 Penne and meatballs, 1 Penne with sweet sausage, 1 spaghetti and meatballs, 2 Souvlaki plates, 2 stuffed flounders and 1 fish and chips. The only complaint was the meatballs were not the greatest. Otherwise, good food, good company and good service.

This place is solid. We live near the city and this is about half way to our ski place in VT. We frequently stop here with the kids. Most of the food is homemade, the second generation of the family now runs the place(and the third generation works there). The original owner still can be seen in the kitchen making food. The prices are very reasonable, the service is good. A good solid casual place for the family.

I can’t believe how much my husband and I like this place. We have only been there once, and it was by accident. We were going to a different restaurant nearby but it was closed so we chose this place right down the road. It isn’t much to look at but the blue cheese, mushroom burger that I got, the gyro that my husband got and the pizza that my daughter had were all delicious! And in diner fashion we had to try the pie. It was spectacular! We had the chocolate tuxedo moose thingy… rich and delicious! The prices were fair and the food was exceptional. A traditional diner atmosphere with great food!

Stopped here on a recent road trip & was very pleasantly surprised. We stayed with the Greek/Middle Eastern fare & really enjoyed it. The Greek salad was very tasty, fresh greens, plenty of feta cheese & lots of vegetables. The Spanakopita was delicious & a bit salty(probably due to the feta) & the chicken sandwich on the pita bread was also very good. Service was pleasant & very helpful. I’d give it a try if in the area.

The pizza here is thick, greasy, and full of toppings. I think it’s delicious, but really, it’s all a matter of taste. I would also say that it’s the best option on the menu. Everything else has that fresh from the freezer kind of feel… They are open every day of the week except Tuesday. I’m not sure of the exact hours, but I know I’ve been there for breakfast and for dinner before. I don’t recommend them as a breakfast place– a friend of mine ordered a waffle that looked like it came directly from a Pillsbury box. They do have a full bar and a decent selection of grade B beers. For me, the pizza is really the saving grace of this place. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have a reason to go there.
