New Lenox Ace Hardware

The employees are very helpful. Especially Kathy at the front register was helpful even though I could tell she was very new. I would give them a 4 – 5 for them.
but after seeing how they treat their employees, the owners get a 1 – 2 after hearing about and personally seeing the way the owners treat their employees.
I’ve found, after running a business for almost 10 years and also researching many successful businesses, that your workers are more reliable, happy and more productive if you treat them with respect.

The manager is a miserable, rude and racist man. My hard working husband was temporarily laid off from a giant (nationwide) home improvement store chain, as a extremely high up management position. Instead of filing unemployment and sitting on his duff, he took the first layoff in his life in stride and stopped anywhere and everywhere to look for work. Would Ace Hardware pay him the 6 figures he made at his other job (not even if hell froze over), but providing for his family was all that mattered. The manager was rude, talked to him like a teenage punk, and was completely out of line on many professional levels. My husband has a college degree, at least 20 years experience, and could run circles around this miserable excuse for a store manager. Whomever is the owner of this store, your manager is a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen. Your store manager was so rude he forced a hard working and honest man who was desperate for work to walk out in utter disgust. A man who TRIPLED the YEARLY sales at a giant home improvement store in THREE MONTHS. Your manager lost us as customers FOR LIFE. Your loss… In so many ways.

I have been to this Ace more times then I can count. I know the prices are a little higher but, the service is outstanding! If you need something in a flash, and don’t have time to drive across town… and go to a big hardware store to get no service… then ACE is your place! Ace truly is the place with the helpful hardware folks.”

Ever time I go in there they can’t be more friendly ! Especially Michelle she is the perfect helper.

I purchased some patchmix for the lawn that was $ 12 at an Ace Hardware in another town from where I live. Two days later I decided I didn’t need it so I took it back to the Ace Hardware where I live in New Lenox. I was told that because I did not buy it from this store I could only get a credit slip. They said that was their policy. I did not want the credit and I walked out with my item. I called corporate and told them of my experience and advised them that I will never purchase another item from Ace store anywhere. They agreed that for $ 12 the New Lenox store should had taken it back. I explained to them that being treated like this is another reason why people shop at the big box stores.
So now another small business has lost a faithful customer because one manager was too greedy to pay out $ 12. Incredible!

Been there 7 times in four days. That deserves a star upgrade! Thanks for putting up with my madness!

This business has had a help wanted sign up for about 6 months. They are NOT hiring. They are getting subsidies from the state for having positions open but they ARE NOT LOOKING TO FILL THEM. This place is just as bad as Walmart only at least we know to avoid Walmart. This businesses motto: Get money and string people who need work along while doing it.

Prices are outrageous! Way too expensive to shop at… Big box stores are much cheaper. Bought a few nuts and bolts for a small project and the bill was over 22.00! Same parts at Menards was about 4 bucks! Employees are right on top of you when you walk in-​feels awkward. Can’t even browse without having the feeling that you are being watched. Manager/​owner is very pushy and tries to get you to spend money in the store.

Very nice place, they treat you well, and very helpfull, not bad prices for a small neighborhood hardware store, we buy quite a bit from them. Dave
