Decided to go with my friend here for breakfast and I’m so glad we did! I got the mini monster and it was so yummy! I will definitely be back!

Although they don’t always offer it, if you see SAUSAGEANDGRAVYGETTHESAUSAGEANDGRAVY. Everything is homemade and they accommodate travelers because of the ferry’s proximity to the restaurant. Super cute 50s vibes and locally owned by an engaged couple and you can often find the mayor there and he’ll come and chat with you! And one time I was offered a free dessert with my breakfast because she accidentally forgot my bacon, and i was so full and happy I didn’t even care about my bacon!(which she eventually brought out!) I will only complain about one thing though, I never find them open on Mondays, and it’s Monday today. Sadness

Stumbled upon this place Easter weekend. After our Easter Brunch plans got cancelled we decided to pop into Sweeties. It was amazing. First of all… EVERYTHING is homemade. I literally mean everything. Their bread, their ketchup, their syrup, their sriracha… the list goes on. Since Easter I have been three times and will review each meal. 1.) Their Asiago, mushroom and spinach omelette with toast and home fries was delicious. I love my omelettes with a lot of filling and the omelette was stuffed. Honey wheat toast was fantastic. Also their home friends include a medley of white and sweet potatoes which I loved. 2.) My second visits I got their chicken and waffle special. Dear God it was amazing. The chicken was moist and flavorful, the waffle was crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and their homemade syrup was just the icing on the cake. 3.) This most recent visit, I found my go to Sweetie’s meal. The head honcho sandwich. A breakfast sandwich on their home made bread with egg, bacon, carmelized onion and cheddar. It was fantastic. And all of it was so fresh so I didn’t feel gross or overly full. I could go on about the food but another real reason to go is because of the staff. They make you feel like family all while providing top notch service.

Wow! Great great breakfast. My husband had the homemade lamb sausage and feta omelette with homemade grilled bread and baked home fries. I had the mushroom & spinach omelette w homemade grilled bread and home fries. Both were spectacular. The egg was so light and fluffy it was almost unnoticeable. The stuffings were fresh and not greasy at all. The grilled bread had a wonderful texture with a crisp buttery outside and was thick enough to present a soft delicate texture inside. The coffee was very good, bold without being bitter. This is the place for great breakfast in New London! We’ll be back!

Awesome specials, great waffles and really good biscuits and gravy. Come hungry. Only downside is they are not open for dinner! Highly recommend it.

This place was great! From the«sweet» décor to the creative and tasty dishes. Everyone was super friendly and it just completed our laid back Sunday brunch experience/mission. We had carrot cake waffles with cream cheese glaze drizzle over them and a side of the most amazing homemade applesauce. The waffle was cooked perfectly. It was crispy and paired perfectly with the additions. If any breakfast staples fall short on a menu, I feel like it is usually the waffle. Too often I have been pleased with everything else, but then the waffle is just a little limp and sometimes soggy if topped with other things. This is part of the reason I give them 5 stars. Absolutely everything they put out was fantastic and executed well. The other part was the creativity. One of the specials we ordered was the So Cal Benedict. It consisted of poached eggs on top of sweet corn cakes and topped with spinach, some pork, and avocado Hollandaise sauce! We also tried a menu staple of theirs, the mini Sweetie’s monster, which were cheddar biscuits, eggs, and home fries covered in some amazing sausage gravy. If you are serious about breakfast, I highly recommend a stop here to experience this wonderful little gem.

Everything here is wonderful and completely homemade. The chef is the owner and he is definitely a foodie. Every weekend they have an innovative specials menu. One of my favorite brunch spots anywhere. Don’t skip the toast! It’s baked on site.

Aaron and Lindsey are awesome! My husband normally orders the waffle specials and I order whatever special they have that day. They normally have 3 or 4 specials to pick from or I order the classic with sausage gravy. Their gravy is sooo good and filling! My all time faves are the specials they have on the weekends!

Valentine’s Day Weekend the specials were posted on Friday Night so now I have to go to bed dreaming about which waffle I want to dive into on Saturday. I also have to make sure I roll out of bed early so not to be sitting at the counter upset that they sold out of the waffles. All while I watch the person next to me enjoying their waffle. Well that doesn’t happen to me, cause I make sure that I get there nice and early, I’ve come close one time I ordered my waffle breakfast special and right after I ordered it I heard«no more churro waffles» I’m thinking whew I made it just in time. I recall one morning sitting next to a couple of guys unsure of what to get and I explained that if your tossed between the menu and the specials get the special. He was debating on a waffle special and I told him they are close to selling out of them if you want them better let them know right away. Well I’m sure you can imagine what happened. He took too long to decide and missed that boat. A customer at a table squeezed in their order before him. I said sorry I try to warn you, I told him he will have to come back tomorrow(Sunday) early and order them then. So I ordered the bananas foster waffles for my breakfast. I know I have reviewed Sweetie’s before but when I say that they make the BESTEVERWAFFLES I mean it!!! One day I’m going to talk them into sharing the recipe! Trust me I will still come for breakfast. Because breakfast always taste better when someone else makes it!!! I can’t say enough about this place! Everything is made fresh, and homemade!!! It’s so good and they use all real cream, butter, maple syrup that you don’t even feel guilty about eating there. I’m not big on eggs for breakfast but that doesn’t mean I haven’t asked other people if they enjoyed their breakfast. Everyone raves about the eggs Benedict. The omelets get rave reviews as well. People love the homemade chicken sausage too. One morning I stopped in and yes believe it or not I did not have the waffles. Sweetie’s just announced the new menu and I decided to have the french toast they added to the menu. Here again is yet another great breakfast dish! So let me describe its not just your everyday french toast, the french toast comes in its own individual baking dish, its like an over night baked french toast it’s made with homemade bread, and there’s what I believe brown sugar and butter added to the top of this lovely creation. It’s so good you don’t really need to add syrup. Make sure you taste for yourself then come back and share your thoughts. Breakfast happens to be my absolute favorite meal, but Sweetie’s does serve lunch during the week and they also have a great dessert case that’s ever changing. Which is great cause you never know what they might have for your sweet tooth. Also if you have a dog be sure to pick up some homemade dog treats for your dog! My Lola loves the peanut butter treats. I can’t even walk Lola past here without her trying to stop to say hi to everyone, Lola knows she will get a treat. Now Sweetie’s has even expanded to making soaps, and bath salts! I personally haven’t bought any as of yet but I spoke to a woman that said she bought 6 or 8 I can’t recall but she raved about them. They all smell so good. There’s no perfumes in them they are all natural so it’s great for your skin. I will be trying them in the very near future. If you have not tried out this gem, please add it to your must try locations! I promise you won’t be sorry. Honestly every time I have eaten there, and trust me it’s a lot more than I really like to admit I have never seen a plate go back to the chef with a problem, and I’ve never seen a plate not cleared. Most people can’t finish their home fries(which are sweet potatoes and white potatoes mixed) one of a kind original. They are good as well. Most people take them home. I always take a waffle home I can’t eat two waffles. I have mastered the art of heating the waffle up. Wrap in foil place in oven at 350 for 10 – 15 minutes then take foil off the top and let bake five more minutes to get the top crispy then it’s perfect to eat. Almost as good as the first one. Please be sure to stop by tell them I sent you, who knows I might see you at the counter. Enjoy! Sweeties I love you guys keep up the great ideas and the fabulous food!!! See you soon!!!

What a fantastic find! Had an extra hour to kill waiting for the Cross Sound Ferry, and this place came up on Unilocal!Previous reviewers didn’t lie… Superb choices for brunch! Great breakfast sandwiches are made special by the homemade bread, and do yourself a favor and get the home fries, which are a mix of regular and sweet potatoes… The«small» order is a full plate and plenty for two people to share.

Everything here is beyond yummy and the staff and chef(Aaron) are so friendly and accommodating. The weekend eggs Benedict specials are amazing. Everything is housemade and delicious. Potatoes are a mix between regular and sweet potatoes, so yummy. Prices are a little high, but when you see how much love and deliciousness is out into your food, you realize it is all worth it! Also, no kids menu, but getting a waffle dish or a French toast dish is perfect to split between 2 kids. Also, super kid friendly with coloring and puzzles for the little ones.

Awesome! I had the big boy burrito which was fantastic — along with home fries and home-made ketchup! My wife had the French toast special(Capt. crunch this weekend) which she said was the best she’s ever had… Along with a side of home-made applesauce. If you want good quality food cooked by two culinary trained chefs from Johnson & Wales — this is the place.!! Definitely worth the trip… will be going back again, and again…

One of the most delicious sandwiches I have ever had. The bread baked in house was amazing! A special little place worth checking out hands down. My team and I thoroughly enjoyed all of our lunches here.

5STARSALLTHEWAY! Sweeties has delicious homemade food. The ambiance is very homey and retro. But the food… It is absolutely amazing. My girlfriend and I ordered sooo much food, like 3 full plates of waffles, eggs, bacon, omelets, toast, etc and we ate it ALL. It was way too good to not eat everything. Half way through we traded plates to enjoy each others meal. haha We will definitely being going back to this bakery/café to enjoy a delicious breakfast at-least once a week!

Yes, as you know. I do breakfast so when others attempt to «do» breakfast and fail, I tell you. This place attempts and satisfies. From the creative side of the brain to the flat grill, toaster and beyond. The specials are innovative(thus the creative side of the brain) and deliver with flavorful mouthwatering taste. The salmon cakes bennies, were amazing, the other dishes at the table were all satisfying to a group of 4 that wasn’t really hungry but we couldn’t stop eating. All around, worth a stop when around New London! I’ll be back.

Although I’m not much of a breakfast person, I might just power walk to a bakery if they have something out of the ordinary. Sweeties has that and more, and if you weren’t sure of its uniqueness, just take a look at the board outside that reads«waffles are just pancakes with abs.» We made it to Sweeties on one of our last weekends while we lived in new england, and happened to arrive just as they were opening. We were lucky enough to find a parking spot just outside on the street, but I could see parking being a huge hassle once Bank street was more awake and bustling. We were seated immediately, and given menus after they took our drink order. I was immediately impressed with how much they make in house, including breads, ice cream and even their own sausage. My husband ordered a monster of a breakfast, it was a biscuit, cheese, bacon, and egg sandwich surrounded by home fried potatoes, all covered in an entirely generous serving of sausage gravy. I opted for their daily special, which was two huge vanilla bean waffles served with housemade pumpkin butter and housemade applesauce, with a side of their housemade lean pork sausage patties. After we ordered, the waffle was almost immediately crossed off the specials list, looks like they only had 5 and they went fast, thankfully I got one of them! Prices are fair for the uniqueness of their selection, and huge kudos to them for taking the effort and time to craft so much in house. Service was fast and friendly, and their pastry case looked inviting. I would probably go back in time and take some of their baked goods home with me, because if their breakfast was that solid, I can only imagine what their twix bar or butter apple squares would be like. Yum!

So glad we chose this place last minute for a late lunch on a Sunday. Place is small but perfect size for the type. Staff was super friendly and even offered and picked up my 7 month old to play for a bit while I ate! I had the burrito special which was so delish! Loved that the home fries had sweet potatoes too. My husband had the killer sandwich and it was to die for! The turkey, beef and combo of cran jelly and horse radish was just delish! So good I wish I could have ordered that too! My 5 year old had a grilled cheese that was fresh and good on the home made bread. My husband went nuts over the home made ketchup and even tried to buy some! We even had 2 slices of pie too. The peppermint patty choc cake was amazing as was the lemon pie. All in all it was a great experience. Good to bring the kids but there is no kids menu. They do have a high chair but be careful if it’s busy as it might be hard with an infant car seat. The whole lunch/dessert plus 3 drinks cost us $ 46 which is a bit steep but for homemade everything it’s a special treat and was worth it. We will definitely go back!

This unassuming café with classic bar stool seating and small tables makes many of their ingredients in house — sausage, bread, ketchup, and more! Their bacon is cut in house and meets are cooked on site. You can really taste the love put into the food! The two owners and staff are extremely friendly and shared their story of meeting in culinary school at Johnson & Wales University. Definitely recommend this place!
