Kahn Larry Real Estate

A hole-​in-​the-​wall RE agency, hiring the worst «wanna-​be part-​time RE agent» in NJ! This is as bad as the *other* hole-​in-​the-​wall outfit, Pristine Homes and Estates of Haworth, NJ!
So, here’s the skinny on my experience with Karen DeMarco
who works as an independent agent under the «cover» Larry Kahn RE in New Milford, NJ. My mistake was trying google for a reputable RE agent. Mistake #1!
At first, Karen is really attentive… takes all your calls and responds to your emails. She really convinces you that she is the best out there (plus her husband is a big time lawyer in Bergen County… yadda, yadda, yadda…) Once you agree to work with her, she flakes out on you. Big time.
What really confuses me is that this somewhat intelligent lady turns into Mr Hyde once complacency sets in. You begin trusting her… and that’s when the problem begins. Out of nowhere, she takes off for two weeks without letting you know that she won’t be reachable and keeps you in suspense. She provides no professional courtesy to send you any email/​voicemail/​texts/​snailmail that everything about your house is ON HOLD until… whenever!
Just as you get tired of the games and finally email her that you are looking to work with another agent, she miraculously finds herself back to civilization and responds to your email; she gives you some lame excuse of her phone not working where she was (no, she is NOT a CIA operative, and I highly doubt her mother is Amish!). So, because you are a nice person and you want to give this woman the benefit of the doubt, you agree to give her one more shot. Mistake #2!
After a week of solid communication, she takes off again. This time for 4 weeks! No replies to my emails or voicemails on what the heck is going on with my house that she is supposed to put up for sale nor about the tenants (the tenants were also looking for her, as she hasn’t come by to collect the rent)…no simple texts on what is happening… just SILENCE for 4 weeks.
Finally, I give up and decide to have a RE referral company refer me to the top producing RE agents in the Bergen County area. First of all, NO ONE has ever heard of Karen DeMarco in the RE agent «circle», and secondly, the word is in the street that this Larry Kahn «outfit» is pretty bad!
Sure, Karen runs a semi-​decent RE «blog» on
, but if you notice, she blogs for a while… and then her website is not updated… for months! Unreliable as her RE «service». Right now, I am still trying to collect one of the month’s rent (as Karen had deposited MY rent check into HER account). I told her that if I don’t see MY rent money in MY bank account, I will call the cops on her for theft. This is NOT how a RE «professional» should behave. To be continued…
