I am giving a generous two stars because any place or people who rescue and help animals are heroes to me. But I need to share a story to help other parents who might be looking to adopt a cat with their child. I went to a Wells run adoption at a pet store with my six year old daughter on a Saturday afternoon. We spent about 30 minutes with the ladies running the adoption and picked out a kitten. My daughter was so excited! We were told to fill out paperwork and our pet records would be checked and we could come to another event the next day or pick up our kitty that Monday. I emailed that night to say we were certain we wanted our kitty and would not come to look at others the next day(we also had a child party to attend) but we were excited to pick up our boy on Monday. I did not hear back. So I called and left a message. No response. On Tuesday, I received an email saying our application had been rejected since we allow our cats to go outside. I am all for rules and having them, but being that I was with my six year old who was asking every day when we were getting her kitty, I sure would have liked to know that rule in advance. So, parents: Wells Cat Sanctuary will not adopt to you if you let your cats outside. Don’t put your kid through the same heartbreak as mine went through. Oh, and I responded to the email saying very much of what I have said above and no one responded to that either.
