It was the most unfavorable experience I had with a restaurant in a long time. We had a party of 6 within our group. Our waitress disappeared and we had to flag down other servers to get drinks, bread or extra silverware. The food took forever, 70 minutes and once it showed up the food was cold not warm but cold. Prime rib is not good being cold. The items were taking off the bill however the manager NEVER came to our table to help with the issue. When the manager was tracked down and confronted her reply was«I allowed the waitress to remove the items from the bill». I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone. It isn’t worth your time(2 hours) or money.

This was our first time at C&D and we weren’t disappointed. The only downside was we had to sit at the bar or wait 45 mins for a table. We started out with a tasting of bruschetta and ran salad. Our appetizer was the crab dip which was AMAZING!!! My husband ordered the ribeye which was perfectly cooked. I ordered the salmon Oscar which was perfectly seasoned and the crabmeat tasted fresh. Their drinks were also top notch. I highly recommend the pear sangria. Even though it was a bit out of our way and not a diverse crowd, we will definitely be returning.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at C & D grill last night with my wife and two neighborhood friends. The French onion soup topped with onion straws is the still best I’ve had anywhere in my life. The salads were wonderful with fresh hand cut greens. I had the prime rib medium rare and it was excellent. Two others ordered entrées of fillet mignon with béarnaise sauce and they were also very good. My neighbor who ordered the stuffed(with crabmeat) gulf shrimp couldn’t stop raving about them. C and D grill still remains my restaurant of «choice» anywhere in the Chambersburg, Gettysburg, Hanover area. If you go on Friday or Saturday nights make sure you make reservations otherwise you’ll be waiting for a table like many others who haven’t made a reservation. It’s amazing how popular this restaurant has become over the past five years but the quality of the food makes it easy to understand why this has happened.

I went here for my birthday and was very impressed. We will be going back. I had the blue cheese topped filet mignon with mashed potatoes and rice. It was one of the best filets I have ever had at a restaurant. The blue cheese was covering the top and dripping down every side of the filet. The mashed potatoes were perfect as well. The appetizer was calamari and it was the best I have had in 10 years. Usually calamari is over-cooked and chewy but this was not… it was perfect. The other meals ordered were all equally impressive and the bill for 5 was more than reasonable. The only place in the area that is on par with this restaurant is Sidney in East Berlin. However the food we had at C&D was literally 60% the cost of what it would be at Sidney. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!!!

My new favorite restaurant. I was looking for some place different to take my family for my mothers 75th birthday. There were 23 of us and not one complaint from anyone. That is unusual in my family. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Not only will I go back but heard several family members mention that they will be returning. A+++++

I drive frequently between York and Gettysburg and C&D is my favorite eatery along te way. I get the burger, and it is always perfectly prepared. I’ve also always had good service.

Good stuff here. Simple lunch menu but good choices. Very reasonably priced too. Try the Goat Burger.

My husband and I ate at C and D for the first time this evening. Excellent food but some improvements in service and«bussing busyness» is needed. We had Oysters Rockefeller and it was tasty and reasonably priced. The Stuffed Shrimp and Salmon Rockefeller were great entrees, and we had plenty to take home for leftovers. The service was a little uneven, as the waitress and other helpers kept asking my husband if he wanted water and if the sun was in his eyes. He answered several servers but they kept coming back to ask. This was a little overattentive and a tad annoying since he had to keep repeating himself. Also, we had a busboy by our table wiping down the chairlegs of the chairs at tables around us. This just detracted from the atmosphere and could have been done when there weren’t diners in the area. Our waitress was just a little slow with drinks, but the pace of the food was fine. All in all, I would come again and we don’t live close by! I’d also bring some guests to show off C & D. Great food for the price.

Great food. C&D never disappoints, no matter what I try. The bar and food menus have plenty of options for everyone. It’s usually busy on the weekends. Big fan of their brunch menu on Sundays as well. This is the place we typically bring guests who are in visiting from out of town.

We stopped in for lunch on our way to York from Gettysburg based on Unilocal reviews. We really loved the place. The waitress was very pleasant and perky. The food was good. Not top shelf but tasty. That’s the reason for four not five stars. The ambiance was good and the food was a step above most pub fare. Full bar and good beer list. My son is vegan and they were very accommodating which isn’t always the case other places.

Excellent food from beginning to end… While our wait staff(Jessica) was attentive with out hovering. The one thing that was annoying was how the tables were not bused promptly. While that sounds trivial… sitting surrounded by dirty tables was not a good vibe. You are gonna drop close to $ 100 for dinner for 2 you don’t want to do it around a bunch of dirty tables… but that was the only bitch I had. Now onto the food. The lovely and I both started with the crab bisque, fantastic flavor not over the top spicy and just the right touch of Old Bay and a baby fist size pile of lump crab on the top. I moved on to the seafood perogis, now I was expecting perogis stuffed with seafood, but they were homemade perogis covered with scallops, crab, shrimp and asparagus in a amazing sauce. The shrimp and scallops were huge and the crab was lump. It was quite the meal. The lovely had the crab tortellini, again plenty of lump crab over a cream sauced covered tortellini, she loved it as well. We skipped dessert as we were in the mood for something they didn’t offer… cannoli. One more thing about the level of service by Jessica our server… we both took home a portion of our meal, my lovely had picked out the cherry tomato’s from her crab tortellini and set them aside. The lovely noticed when she opened her box the next day there were no tomatoes. Now that is attention to detail, most would have just scraped the plate… but Jessica noticed and left out the tomatoes. Now if they would just bus the tables in a more timely fashion.

I was so excited to try this out. We stopped in for lunch and ordered the chicken Marsala. When it came out the chicken was a frozen chicken patty like the kind you would get at Wendy’s or in a frozen weight watchers meal. I returned it and decided to get nothing. After that the waitress had an attitude with me. Which I never acted upset just said this was not what I was expecting .,. A frozen fake piece of processed chicken. Gross

If flavor was added to the food it would be a great improvement the glaze on the steak had no taste to it at all and the mashed potatoes tasted like they never added salt or pepper will never go there again

We were out on the bikes and thought we’d stop in for dinner. This is the first time I’ve been here. Very nice place! The service was great and the food delicious! We ordered the filet mignon wellington as an appetizer ~ so good! French onion soup was next. Great flavor, but IMO the french onions piled on top make it even harder to eat with the already melted cheese and bread. Next time, I’ll request them to be left off. The salads are huge! We will definitely come again! «Look Ma, no mints!» 2 chocolate chip cookies came with our bill :) Chocolate is the perfect way to say, «thank you for coming»

Finally! It had been a long time between visits. We had some bad experiences with the service and were ready to give up. Last night, we decided to try C/D again and it was outstanding. It was a busy Saturday night and we didn’t have reservations. No problem, they got a booth in bar cleaned up for us in no time. We prefer the booths so this was perfect. We had a bottle of Bridlewood Cabernet and it was great. My wife had the Monkfish special. She liked it and the taste that I had was delicious. I ordered the Seafood Pierogies and they were fantastic! I wish I could remember the name of our server. She was a pleasant young lady who was also one of the bartenders for the evening. She was working her butt off but handling it with grace and professionalism. Congratulations C/D, you’ve done well to improve the service. The food was always great. We will return.

I usually go out to eat in the big city, but from time to time I dine out in the ‘burbs. This place exceeded my expectations both in terms of service and quality of food. The FREE amuse bouche was a shrimp on top of Caesar salad on some kind of cracker or flat bread. Not the type of thing I would probably ever order, but for a complementary introduction to the restaurant, it was a nice salutation(even though the salad had clearly been dressed way too far in advance). Thoughts upon arrival — never hurts to have a cute hostess, which they did :) We were promptly seated and shown menus. Ordered some Troegs — they seemed to have a relatively in depth craft beer menu with varieties relevant to the season. Ordered the calamari — nothing exceptional, but you could tell they cut the calamari themselves instead of serving tiny little rings. And they were not overcooked — not by a second. The marinara they paired it with was a little generic. Tasted like a tomato sauce you’d find in a super market. I would have preferred an aioli as a sauce. The entrée was phenomenal — a veal porterhouse cut. I ordered this because this is a cut I have not had before. The mushroom ragout along with the mashed potatoes were beautifully seasoned. Lots of umami going on. The veal was nicely grilled and was cooked to perfect medium — this was the chef’s recommendation. For a parting gift, each of us were given a small bag of chocolate chip cookies that were delicious. I had some the next day and they were buttery and rich and everything a chocolate chip cookie should be. The server was extremely gracious — seemed to be very clear headed and attentive. All in all, a nice place to go to when you’re in this area.

I recently dined at C&D Bar & Grill while visiting Gettysburg for the 150th anniversary events. Due to the massive influx of tourists in the area, we were advised by several locals to seek out restaurants in outlying towns unless we wanted to be subjected to horrifyingly extreme wait times. We heeded their advice, and eventually ended up at C&D for our first night in the area — which later proved to be the best dining experience we had the entire trip. Food: C&D is a casual restaurant specializing in well-thought and executed American Continental fare — the name is derived from the first names of the chef/owners, Charlie and Denise. Our Friday evening dinner began with a complimentary amuse bouche, which was a pleasant surprise considering the price point of the restaurant. Unfortunately, it contained shrimp, so I wasn’t able to oblige given my seafood allergy — however, the other five members of my party seemed to enjoy it. For an entrée, I opted for the Caribbean Jerk Porks Chops, which were served alongside mashed potatoes and topped with roasted pineapple chutney — the meat was perfectly cooked and both the flavor and presentation was excellent. We ultimately opted to forego dessert, but the options were tempting. To our surprise, a complimentary pair of cookies were presented to each couple with the check — I had one the following day and they were quite good. Service: All of the staff here seemed well-versed in the nuances of good customer service — from the temperature of the wines to the order of entrée delivery, the quality of the service exceeded what you would expect for a restaurant at this price point. Atmosphere: Open and inviting with plenty of natural light and ample room for large groups. The interior consists of one large dining room, which contains a bar area, as well as a few adjoining smaller dining rooms. The entire restaurant has hard wood floors, which give it a level of sophistication that one doesn’t ordinary associated with a «bar & grill». The dress is casual and the clientele is a mix of demographics, but mostly non-tourists. Cost: Reasonably priced for the experience. Appetizers are $ 8-$ 10, soups and salads are $ 5-$ 13, sandwiches are $ 9-$ 12, and full entrees are generally $ 17-$ 25. Desserts are $ 6-$ 7. Other: C&D Bar & Grill is located approximately 12 miles from downtown Gettysburg, which equates to a driving time of about 15 to 20 minutes. In addition to the standard lunch and dinner menus, the restaurant also offers Sunday brunch, a children’s menu, and a reduced priced«senior lunch». A rotating selection of chef’s specials are also offered throughout the week. The restaurant is closed on Monday. Free parking is available in the restaurant’s private lot.

You must come here if you’re trying to find a good place to eat in Hanover. I have been on a quest to find the best food in Hanover for the last half a year and this may be the one! My other fav Hanover restaurant Blue Koi sushi bar has the best raw fish, but C&D has the best cooked seafood that I’ve had so far. The menu is AMAZING and the dishes are reasonably priced. I ordered the Seafood Enchemise which includes sautéed shrimp, scallops, haddock and crabmeat with mushrooms and leeks, in a brandy cream sauce wrapped in filo dough, topped with béarnaise. It was mouthwateringly good. It had the rich flavor of hollandaise sauce but was a bit lighter and fresher. Also one of my favorite things in life is free food, and there is nothing better than GOOD free food. At the beginning of my meal, the waitress brought out a slice of the spinach pita(spanakopita) on top of some Greek salad — courtesy of the chef: O It was delicious! The Greek salad in that sampler was even better than the side salad that came with my meal. Then at the end of the meal I got a pack of two chocolate chip cookies that said, «For a midnight snack — from Charle and Denise» Not the best cookies in the world, but hey they were free and just a great way to leave me smiling. I don’t know them, but now I’m big fans of Charle and Denise for giving me this wonderful experience. DEFINITELY coming back again, God willing.
