This place is the best — I love the old building it’s situated in and the guy working the counter was super friendly and informative. The best thing honestly is how fair the prices are for everything in the store — vinyl and CD’s are very affordable and the selection is enormous! I’m definitely going to be going here again, I’m so happy with this place.

Jack’s is somewhat small but contains an interesting and eclectic mix of books and music, both in CD and vinyl. I was first drawn to the racks of CDs in the center all at $ 4.98, then to the shelves of books. You will find a variety of contemporary literature, popular fiction, college textbooks, and then some. Stroll to the back, crossing in front of the selection of vinyl, and you will find more CDs organized by group, mostly in the range of $ 9.98 to maybe $ 14.98. The guy behind the counter was low-key but ready to step out and help at a moment’s notice. I enjoyed checking the selections here.

This is a small record, cd, and book shop with a discerning selection across the board. Used cds and records are in great shape, prices are fair, and there’s high quality selection whether you’re looking for rock, punk, jazz, blues, folk, hip hop, reggae, or classical. The selection of new cds and records was more narrow, but again, what’s offered represents«critic’s choice»

Excellent shop and selection. I am only commenting on the vinyl — fair prices and good quality used records. Nice, non-stereotypical record store clerks as well.

Fine selection and a knowledgeable(and debonair) staff who don’t look down their noses at your(my) shitty taste in music. The only negative I can offer is that I only get in there once or twice a year. Alas…

Jack’s Rhythms is a cornerstone of downtown New Paltz. Good prices, great selection. The guys that run it are cool as hell, too. The only thing missing is the snobbery that all too often hangs in the air of other establishments… Hence, five stars.

Untainted(until you all flock here) record store with a choice selection of CDs, vinyls, free EPs, and a single used bookshelf stocked with a better selection and lower prices than every mile of the Strand. No lie. I mourn the loss of stores like this in almost every other part of New York, especially Manhattan. The books were all about 50−60% off their jacket prices. Also, they play great music and leave you alone. And take credit. No matter what I say this will seem like an advertisement, but I’m just saying I’ve never heard about this impendingly famous band from New Paltz until I swiped their EP from this shop: Case in point, kids.
