Payne Farm Too

Have ridden here two times and both times have been a fantastic experience. They always make sure to fit you with a horse that matches your physique. Also, they listen thoroughly to your level of experience and as you’re on the trail, customize the ride based on experience. We splashed through the creek and rode through the woods nestled at the base of the Shawangunk Mountains. It was heaven! Also, while waiting for our ride (we had two groups go at different times), we got to play with a puppy and visit the horses in the paddocks. So happy with our experience!

Never actually took a trail ride with them but basing this review on my experience trying to book one with them…
Local hotel I booked at for the weekend suggested this place after all major local ones were fully booked for horseback riding for the weekend. Site says by appointment only and gives you a telephone number and email address. Well the telephone just rings and rings and no one responds to voicemail (left 3). Emailed them and waited 3 days and finally heard back asking for my general information on my group. It’s now a week and a half later and no one will respond to any additional emails or voicemails.
Place obviously does not want business. If they ever decide to actually call back and book me will let everyone know how it goes.
FOLLOW UP: owner called and yelled at me into the phone and called back 3 times after i hung up on her to yell at me saying she doesn’t need or want my business for leaving this negative message. Was «nice» enough though to refer me to a place that was able to be normal and book me within minutes.

I love this place. We had a group with many different levels of riders: one guy wanted to canter, one girl was a bit nervous about going faster than a walk. They accommodated all of us! They made it so all 4 of us rode together for the bulk of our hour and then split off so that those who wanted to go faster could. The route was through gorgeous Hudson Valley land, with woods that opened up to fields. We will definitely come back here.
Oh, and they were really great about a last-​minute reservation. Even if you think it’s short notice, it is worth calling!
