Planet Fitness – New Port Richey

Upon my first visit I just came to pick up my pass. Everything seemed clean and everyone was really friendly. The girl up front was nice she had me sign some papers about the yearly contract, and dangers of tanning–
I went here today for about an hour to work out and the girls up front were very friendly again, everything was organized and everyone wiped off their machines after using them.
There’s about twenty tvs to choose from to watch, or you can listen to the radio on the machines. There’s a locker room with showers, bathrooms and a little weigh in station and they also have hair dryers set up. There’s four tanning rooms, a massage room and a cooler up front.
The only thing I didn’t receive a tour or a free tshirt as advertised.

Equipment is decent. Watch the hidden fees in the contract though. There policies of charging an annual dues 4 months in, charge if within the 7 day period before dues are to be paid and the failure to allow a person to cancel without coming in are shady at best. Will not be back to this gym. Don’t like the «hidden in the contract» practices. Staff was argumentative and unhelpful in solving. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere, they don’t deserve it.

I called in to cancel my membership. I was told I needed to come in and cancel in person. I can understand that. Not a problem. So I did just that.
The next month? $ 42 for annual fee and membership fees charged to my account. No big deal, im sure it was just a mistake, right? When I called and spoke to their management I was basically told too bad. That I needed to prove I canceled because they had no record of it.
Seems like a shady way of doing business. I recommend you try another gym in town. I’m not a fan of being called a liar.

I wanted to get some workouts in while visiting my grandmother, so I went to check out Planet Fitness, which is right around the corner from where she lives. Personally, I wouldn’t join any Planet Fitness as my primary gym because of their lack of free weights (barbells, specifically), but I have to say, I was quite impressed with this gym!
The space was bright and airy. Everything was new and clean, and even the locker rooms were nice. I also really appreciated the customer service at the front desk. The guy I spoke with went above and beyond to make my visit great!

I’ve belonged to several different gyms in my life and planet fitness isn’t the worst or the best. Middle of the road. Equipment is in good condition and there’s a lot of variety. There’s no pool nor do they offer any classes. Locker rooms are moderately clean. My biggest complaint-​they allow young children to workout here! I’m talking 7 & 8 year olds. Many times I’ve seen children this young hanging off the equipment, unsupervised. Not cool

Early morning workout is not crowded also the hydro massage alone is worth the membership :-)
