I rate it about a 2.5…been here at least 5 times. So review is based on all visits. No one is very very friendly at all… They act like they could care less about your business… always slow to take order… cook food… take your money! Food is very average with average portions. Price is above average for the quality of food. I don’t feel I get my money’s worth! I will start trying to find a better place in the area in the future!

Nice old small town diner and it just so happens to be a bar. It’s the former Merchant Hotel. You can a picture of it on the fireplace. Pic a foor, any door, there are two ways in. Typical good diner fare of large portions. Just see the picture of the eggs benny. I like to try new food and Jitrnice,(liver sausage) is something I’ve not had. It was very similar to Scrappel that I had in Dover. I liked it. The #6 was plentiful and good.

I don’t really go to New Prague much, but since I met a friend here for golfing we decided to get lunch after words and came across Flip Side. It was like 2:30pm so the place wasn’t exactly crowded, actually we were the only people in there until about 15 minutes before we left. Maybe that’s because the entrance to this joint is a solid white door without windows and a «NOSOLICITORS» sticker on it. Not exactly the most welcoming impression in the world, if it weren’t for someone passing by that we were able to ask if it was open or not, we might have left. Quaint little place though, the lady working the bar was nice enough and provided us with a menu and cold beer. The beer selection isn’t fabulous but they have the necessities, I got a Coors light mug for $ 2.50, and it was a frozen mug, nice touch. I ordered a Mushroom and Bacon Cheese Burger, with Fries for an extra $ 1.75. Food was cooked to order and was pretty darn good, exactly what I was looking for after 5 hours on the golf course. I’m a sucker for Pull Tabs and they do have those also, unfortunately they weren’t very kind on this visit,(BTW, the ATM charges $ 2 convenience fee:) If we golf in New Prague again I would have no problem coming back to this establishment for food.

One of the best bar food places around. Prices were pretty cheap & easy on the pocket book. Yes. I know it’s simple & easy food plus what can a person say it’s bar food, however sometimes you just need these simple things in life & you need them done right. Well, if that’s the case Flip Side is where you want to go. I totally recommend checking it out if your in the area and you need a good burger. They also serve breakfast which I hear is really good however me & my buddy missed it by 15 minutes.

I came here for breakfast after a rainy night of camping. It was just regular small town breakfast, nothing special, everything was decent but nothing to go out of my way for. Fairly cheap as well. Two adults and three kids ate for under $ 30.

The Flip Side Pub and Grill is a reason to love New Prague. From the outside it looks like every dive bar in rural Minnesota and I was initially hesitant to go in. What sets this place apart from most other dive bars is the food, the service, and the bill at the end of the experience. We were greeted by Slick, who I would assume is the owner. What a nice guy, I felt like I already knew him. He took our order, and shortly afterward walked out with our food, and a smile on his face. We enjoyed two bacon cheese burgers, an order of onion rings, an order of tots, and three mugs of Amber Bock between us, and the bill came to $ 17. It’s places like the Flip Side that make me love rural towns. The people are genuinely interested in you, the food is cheap, the drinks flow freely, and you tend to feel at home quickly. I felt like I was at Grumpy’s NE without the hipsters and the overpriced beers. I realized as I was paying the bill, they have Grain Belt on tap. Shoot! I suggest a trip down 169 to New Prague some afternoon for a good burger in this working-class bar.
