The green kayak has a great atmosphere. Live music, good food, good drinks, and great people in a wonderful location on the New Richmond riverfront. There isn’t a better spot to grab a bite to eat and a drink in the area.

Great place!!! Went out a few weekends back and loved it. It’s a good reason to stay or visit New Richmond. Food is great, music is wonderful, and the staff working are amazingly friendly! Would definitely recommend to anyone living in the are or just visiting and passing through. Will be going back soon! :)

I’m going to say, my first review was a little biased(being a New Richmond-er and all). Went to the Green Kayak today and I was just not very impressed with their menu. There are not very many options, and the food they do have isn’t really satisfying. The atmosphere is fun, and they do have a variety of acts going on throughout the week! One plus to The Green Kayak is that they recently added two nice sand volleyball courts– truly fun for the whole family!

I was looking for a place off the beaten path. It took me about 20 minutes to get there from cincinnati. The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for. It reminded me of the small Florida town I’m from. The food was ok. I had the Cuban pamini. If there was a lot less mustard. It was have been pretty good. The French fries, reminded me of the frozen ones that came in a bag when I was little. In short. I didn’t like the fries. The staff was very friendly. The beers and drinks where great. The live music was also good. I will go back. Probably won’t eat, have a few drinks, and reminisce of the good days living in Florida

I’d give a 3.5 out of 5 to the dive. Limited seating and limited food options. Food was slightly more expensive than I expected($ 5 for 5 mozzarella sticks) but quality was good. Don’t come here if you looking for more than wings, burgers and fries. Lots of beer options and cool interior.

The food was okay, but not great. It was a bit of a disappointment. The atmosphere was nice, but the service is ridiculously slow. We had to ask twice for our check because she forgot about us the first time we asked.

The Kayak is a great place to hang out. Friendly atmosphere and friendly service. Some would say slow, but if you plan for it, makes for a great time. Live music on the weekends, great selection of craft beers, Sunday NHL games when they’re on network TV. The hot wings are consistently well done crispy and spicy. Rings are crispy and tasty. Cuban is always a good choice. Pizza is consistently well made. The Kayak is a great place to for a leisurely weekend afternoon or evening meal and drinks(I prefer the craft beers). In warmer weather the courtyard is a great hang out and there is some seqting out front with a great view of the Ohio and the village.

Based on Unilocal reviews drove 20 miles anticipating a casual descent dinner near the river. Service was extremely slow. The food available was limited, slow to arrive and tasteless. Not sure how anyone rated this place a 5 star.

Based on Unilocal reviews we decided to take a detour from our trip home to Indiana and stop in to the Green Kayak. We got there on a Sunday morning around 11:30 only to find the place wasn’t supposed to open until 12:00 When we were spotted outside the door the bartender, Kay, opened up and let us in even though the cook was not there yet. Kay was very friendly and hospitable. We had a bloody Mary while waiting for food to be available to order. When the cook arrived we ordered Cuban panini and twisted BLT. The Cuban was a nice balance of ham, cheese, pickles and mustard. The twisted BLT was a thin naan with pesto, cheese, bacon and tomato. Both were served with potato chips. We liked both very much. Kay talked a bit about the restaurant/bar and what goes on such as live music certain nights of the week as well as the bed & breakfast above, the kayak rental they offered and items available at the general store. They have a nice outdoor area in back with a somewhat beach feel to it due to a sand box with chairs and umbrellas. I would like to come back and try renting some kayaks and returning to the Green Kayak for drinks and a bite.

Great owner and friend. Nice cozy atmosphere snuggled in the sleepy village of New Richmond! Great things coming from this business and rivertown!

This is a great place. The entire staff is joyful and courteous. The line up of food is layered with GREAT flavor and is a ‘good deal’. The best part is that the kayak tour was an experience of a lifetime. My 5 girls will never forget kayaking on the river and going through the locks. An «Only in America» type experience.

Our family of four went out to lunch at the Green Kayak for Father’s Day. We had the Twisted BLT, Cheese Plate, Cuban and Pulled Pork sandwich. All the food was very good especially the pesto with cream cheese. Even the sweet tea was awesome. We sat out back beside the sand box area. The atmosphere was very laid back with lots of interesting touches making you feel like you were on the beach. We even saw Jacob the Peacock, a longstanding New Richmond staple. The owners were lovely and very friendly. The server was very good and told us about all the specials that weren’t on the menu. After lunch, we walked next door and had a peanut butter cupcake at the Peacock Bakery. We agree that this was definitely a five star place and will come again!

A great find… part market, part wine and beers(good ones) small but delightful menu. They have live acoustic music Thurdays thru Saturdays. Very moderately priced. The other review which appears here is from somebody who has a political agenda, and really shouldn’t be allowed to post a ‘review’ based upon an alleged political stance.(i know the owners and they are politically independent and a small business trying to provide a nice, unique place where everyone is welcome. I came to know them because they have a nice place and are very gracious. We go back frequently. I think it’s a shame and incredibly mean spirited to put a negative comment based upon assumed political leanings…
