If you have always wanted a local dive where, as the old theme song goes, everybody knows your name, then go to Mason’s Pub. Twenty years ago when my girlfriends and I were but girls at a local college, we hung out at a bar a few streets over from where Mason’s is now. At that place was a bartender named Larry. He was the sweetest, coolest guy and we all loved him. Fast forward twenty years to our college reunion. We did all the reunion things, then at night we took off to see if we could find Larry. We found him! Larry and his wife have opened a dive of their own, popular with the locals, and here we reunited with our old barkeep, MADEHIMREMEMBERUS by playing all the old favorites on his jukebox(back in the day he used to sing along whenever someone played Rockin’ Robin) and we toasted the old days and even made new friends amongst the locals that were hanging out watching the game. I’m even Facebook friends with one of the gals I met that night! That’s the kind of place Mason’s is – you go with your old friends, you meet new friends while you’re there. Full bar, TVs, friendly people, and Larry. I’m a fan.

Great neighborhood spot to grab a beer and watch a game and it’s just two blocks from the New Rochelle train station. The bar is owned and operated by husband and wife, Larry & Maureen, awesome people that go out of they’re way to take care of you. They’ve got a half-dozen screens, a pool table in the back, and a jukebox. They don’t have any taps or a craft beer menu, but they’ve got all the standard domestic and import bottles, always ice cold. They make a nice drink too, no light pours at this place. They pour the Jameson from a 1.75L, it’s great! They’ve got a grill at the end of the bar and a short menu consisting of burgers and wings. The grill is not always on so call ahead if you’re looking to eat. The bar is open late, every nite of the week, I highly recommend checking it out, don’t let the regulars scare you off, they’re all very nice people, some characters too. Just pop in and Larry will take care of you, CHEERS!!!
