Walked in here for lunch, with one of my girl friends. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, ramen was taste, and hot. Great place will return

I had tonkotsu ramen and it is delicious except for the shitake mushroom other than that the broth is very rich and amazing. My husband had the ramen burger and he loves it.

I love ramen. I seriously eat a lot of ramen. While I’m based in the Boston area, my partner lives in New Rochelle. On a whim I looked up any ramen places near their home and was surprised to find this one! Having no expectations, we went with their family to enjoy. And man, did we enjoy! Easily some of the best ramen I’ve ever had. I stuck with the tonkatsu as its my usual fave, but I’ve been having serious regrets not trying their spicy oxtail flavor! My partner had jerk chicken ramen and it was innovative and flavorful and really packed a punch. The seaweed salad was also excellent as was the chicken rice bowl. The owner and staff seemed friendly and genuine and it really showed on the plate. What a thrill to find this hidden gem! Now I have something else to look forward to when visiting my partner– amazing ramen! Can’t wait to try some of their more interesting flavors(bbq rib tips?!) Don’t come in here expecting 100% authentic Japanese flavors– but that’s half the fun! This is a tasty, affordable, and playful ramen shop that isn’t afraid to blend Japanese flavors with American style.

Had A great experience with my husband at Roc N Ramen. The second we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and love. Service was fast and our food was delish. We were very satisfied and full! The chef was very nice and wanted to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied with the overall service. I love the cute bell… if you like your meal you ring it and the chef plus other cooks yell ‘thank you’…thought that was pretty dope. :)

My brother and I used Unilocal to find this place. We regretted it. Let me start with the positives. The waiter/cook was very kind and attentive. He suggested a few bowls. For starters we had the bao buns(pork belly). The presentation was nice. Taste was okay. Negatives: I had the bbq chicken ramen and my bro had the traditional ramen. Both our bowls did not have enough ramen. I mean that’s what I was craving… And there just wasn’t enough. My bbq ramen broth was on the spicy side(I like spicy) so I could not really tell if the broth was tasty or not. I had more than enough chicken bits in my bowl(not good). The dark meat chicken(inexpensive) pieces lacked taste(I wish it was white chicken breast). My brothers ramen had three tiny little pieces of pork belly(not cool). Half way through, we switched bowls… His broth was horrible and full of liquid fat. I don’t know how he could sip on that. He thought it was just his taste buds. We asked for some hot oil which sort of made it edible. We looked at each other and had enough. The Total was around $ 50 bucks… We felt robbed because we expected much more as far as satisfying our taste buds. Sorry, but I would not recommend this spot to anyone. If you choose to eat here, I hope you have a better time.

Cool little spot, great music, just not for THAT spot… But, that certainly doesn’t HURT the place much. Ordered chicken Gyozas, pan fried. They were cool in the center and very obviously not pan fried(Maybe pan warmed?) and overly salty. I’ll touch on that again a bit later on. They tasted good and would’ve been REALLY good, if they were hot and pan seared correctly. Our waiter was not the sharpest tool in the shed. Listen, I get it, I work in a kitchen, I cook for a living, I’ve seen my fair share of waitstaff over the years… But this kid was just bad. Not only did he get my order wrong, he charged me for the larger size bowl as well as all the toppings I asked for and never got… I was also charged for extra drinks that I asked for, but never got. THAT alone, makes me not want to go back. I’m not the type to complain when I eat out. You have your chance at doing well and doing your job, i shouldn’t have to piss and moan to get the correct orders… That aside… lets move on to the pork buns. I wanted to enjoy them, but the pickled ginger was a bit overpowering and the pork was VERY tough. It’s supposed to be braised BBQ pork belly that is tender and where the fat melts in your mouth. This was precooked and reheated on a flattop or pan, so it was overly tough. Flavorwise, it was good. just disappointing. The ramen. This is what I came here for. I saw 200+ reviews and said«I really hope this place is good… I don’t want to have to keep driving down to NYC for good ramen» The broth… lacked flavor. tasted very bland for Tonkatsu broth… Realize that ramen broth(tonkatsu specifically) is supposed to be cooked down from pork bones for 12+ hours… enough time so the gelatin, protein and even some of the calcium break down from the bones… To cause a rich, velvety smooth, flavorful broth… This wasn’t that. Sadly. The chicken I ordered was not included, nor was the shredded pork. Instead, I got the sliced pork and pork belly… Both were bad, overly fatty(Yes, pork belly is fatty, I know…) and had a similar texture/taste as the pork buns… Tough, reheated pork that was overcooked the 2nd time, but undercooked the first. Dessert, I ordered the MIA special and my g/f got the red velvet cake. Both were good. Red velvet looked like a restaurant depot special, but it tasted good, so I could care less where it came from. Time to pay. It took a solid 25 minutes to get the check after we asked for it, and then I asked for change and it took ANOTHER20 mins to get that… For something that is supposed to be a quick meal, in and out in well under an hour, I paid for parking at 7:40, didn’t get back to my car until after 9:15… The owner/chef was nice, the staff seemed nice but not experienced enough. With time, they should get better, although it seems other reviews have had similar complaints for a long time now as well. I won’t be going back. But you should go and have your own experience, it may differ from mine. For now, I’ll stick with Ippudo, Minca and Zundo-Ya.

Yessa mega jerk my kinda place! actually, im giving them a solid 3.5 and rounding up for the local business. i mean, really a lot of what they serve is out of the bag from an asian grocery. i like that they do jazz it up a bit, but not the best ramen ive ever had. regardless, the owner is a nice guy, they are still humble about their craft, but that is a small eatery for sure. anywho, im not a local and rarely get out to this area, but if you are a local and are looking for some above average lunch, this could hit the spot.

Big Ramen fan here, eating in Flushing and Other popular city shops all the time. My family and I REALLY enjoyed this place! The broth was rich, satisfying, and comforting. It was NOT too salty, which is a cardinal sin for Ramen that is employed by too many ramen shops. The noodles had a real hand crafted feel to them and were perfect in the soup. Accompanying vegetables and additions to the soup were amazing as well. I have literally 0 complaints about this place other than the fact that the seating is limited! Thankfully carry out will fix that! The meats were velvety and luscious, especially in the Pork Buns(you must order these!). Everything was seasoned well without being overly salty and the service was spectacular. We ordered 3 kid sized Ramens for my 3 kids and 2 Regular sized orders for myself and my wife. The kid portions are still HUGE for a kid, but to my surprise, my 6 year old liked it so much he completely wiped out his bowl! My other two kids ate amazingly as well. The best part? They were QUIET because they couldn’t stop shoveling noodles in their mouths! Thank you Roc n Ramen for that gift! Wayne, if you’re reading this, two tremendous thumbs up, you WILL see me back on the reg!

I’ve been trying to go to this place for the longest time and finally did!!! Place is small but cozy, love the décor makes you feel at home, it was my first time having Ramen and it was amazing, food was so good, lots of flavor, very good portions, I had the Oaxtail Ramen with noodles and it was delicious. I will definitely come back and try other dishes. If you ever in new Rochelle stop by and enjoy.

I am no stranger to ramen so when I heard one was nearby I was excited to go. I went three times to this place and while it wasn’t horrible it wasn’t good with either. The staff and service is okay. The owner is a nice guy and he does his best to accommodate you. But the reason for the low score the food is very much inconsistent. I ordered the same thing every time and every time it tasted different and looked different. Some main ingredients would missing and either it would be overly salty and other times it was just right. I can’t go to a place where the food is inconsistent you just don’t know what your gonna get.

Roc n Ramen in New Rochelle. Got their pork buns – what I didn’t realize was they had 3 types of buns(shredded pork, chashu, and chicken). I got the shredded pork style before I knew they had the more traditional chashu type. That’s okay though! Turned out the shredded pork style was pretty damn tasty anyways. Slathered with sauce, sprinkled with scallions, and served with a thin slice of cucumber, so you don’t feel guilty about all that meat. Overall, recommend the pork buns. Haha I stepped off my beaten path for this ramen experience and actually got the specialty ramen instead of traditional first: curry ox-tail ramen. You heard that right. Plenty of tender ox tail, half an egg, and(slightly cold) bamboo shoots. The curry-based broth lent everything a great flavor and a nice slow burn. The noodles were different than what I’m used to, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. Carried the broth damn well. My only sadness was that drinking the broth by itself didn’t taste quite as good. But hey, by the time I finished the bowl, I was mostly too full for it anyways. Good choice, I still have to try the tonkatsu/shoyu next time. I also got their Mia Special – deep fried buns stuffed with ice cream and dusted with confectioners sugar. I chose green tea. A fun and messy treat to finish off the night. Now, what I didn’t get to mention so far was the awesome owner/chef. Made everyone feel welcome and at home.(PS: they don’t have a liquor license yet… so they were serving their RocknPunch for free! That and they’re BYOB). Finally, their chef/owner is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Goes around to all the patrons and makes you feel right at home. Ugh. So wonderful. Also, their service in general is fun and attentive!

This place USED to be great. The food was amazing. We used to go here a lot; however, all of the last times I’ve gone here it’s been a huge disappointment. It really sucks. We waited for 45 minutes(for ramen!!) for our food because Wayne, the owner, was the only one working. These things happen– maybe his staff was all sick… so we understood. however, we were the only ones in the place, & when the food came it was incredibly salty– inedible. Another time, the pork belly was chewy & not edible, either. Went yesterday as a last chance & they had one cook & a room full of people. We were two people at a table & the waitress said it would be a long wait because they had one cook & she had to take the order of a table of 8 first. Terrible customer service– we were ready to order. Did I mention they don’t allow takeout or call-ahead orders? We go on our lunch break so we have limited time. They keep saying(for months) that their credit card machine isn’t working & they’re working to rectify the situation. Not a huge deal, but it kind of underscores their customer service philosophy– they just don’t care about satisfying the customer. They charge for every single thing. Want veg added to your chashu-don? They’ll charge for a leek. Then they’ll charge for a pepper. Each vegetable is charged separately– $ 2 a pop(same price as it would be to add meat). Last time, they charged us an additional $ 8 on an $ 11 bowl without warning us they charge for veg. It’s really ridiculous.

Hey, if you didn’t know, there’s a $ 30 deal for the price of $ 17 on groupon. That in itself is a darn good reason to check out what might be the only ramen place for miles. If you see a chef enthusiastically engaging with customers, that’s the owner. He’s there ALLTHETIME! I’m surprised he’s not nearly as jaded as the rest of us adults. He must really love his business. My last visit, he was picking up children to bang a gong set up by the front door. An adorable theatric; one I doubt other patrons would enjoy to see me do. Damn kids, always having all the fun. The chef and I happen to share an enthusiasm for Frankenfoods. As made transparent by his Jerk Chicken Ramen. JERKCHICKEEEEEEEEEEEEN. I shouted that in a Jamaican accent. I love jerk chicken! I’ve been mentally ridiculing New York’s food scene for a lack of Caribbean cuisine, so I was ecstatic to see a Jerk Chicken Ramen combo. But before we get to that. The service could use some work. There was only one waitress to service the entire room, so she can only do so much in so much time, I get that. I feel as though the owner himself could be more active in this department. He comes off as one of those bosses in kitchen reality tv shows who spend more time just saying hi to everyone. There’s a bell on the table not for the intention of grabbing your server’s attention, but to signify you’ve enjoyed your meal. My friend accidentally pressed it and instinctively he shouted out«thank you». So… have as much fun with that as you can get away with. As for the jerk chicken(I’m drawing a blank on making a jerk pun), it substantially did not taste like jerk(seriously, there’s something here). Bruh, I thought we had a deal. I also ask for a little spicy which didn’t deliver either *sigh*. Normally I’m very bad with carbs and get stuffed really easily(I bet a lot of girls would like to have that) but I had a hot dog prior to entering and didn’t have much difficulty finishing the ramen. I don’t know what costs they’re trying to cut but the portion wasn’t very satisfying. I did however get a taste of my friend’s barbecue ramen(frankenfoods are the future, man) and holy shit, that tasted like barbecue. Actually, it was more like hoisin sauce, so a lot like glazed spare ribs. This gives me hope. Maybe in my lifetime someone will have invented JERKSESAMECHICKEN. Now you can’t say that isn’t a good idea. CARRIBEANQUEEN, AREWESHARINGTHESAMEDREAM?

Pretty good ramen here. with a unique menu including oxtail curry ramen and jerk chicken ramen. Service was good and staff was attentive and owner was friendly. We enjoyed it and will probably come back whenever we are in the area! Oh and owner also offered us complimentary saki or soju but we weren’t interested in drinking that early lol but that was nice of him though.

I had the rib tips ramen… omg the best ramen I’ve ever had in my life! It is sooo good. I’m not really a ramen person but this place has me thinking about my meal a day later, planning when I can visit again. I live in the Heights but this place is special and definitely worth the drive. The owner is very nice. Parking — Use municipal lot close by or the muni meter on the street. Def have to try the oxtail ramen next time I go which isn’t listed on the menu but my friend told me it’s really good too. It’s also BYOB until they get their liquor license. Who doesn’t love BYOB. This place is an unassuming gem! You won’t regret it!

I’m loving this place! I love it more that it’s in Westchester. They have specials all the time, offering different types of ramen, buns, desserts and I even saw a Ramen Burger on the list then other night. Every time we’ve eaten here, we’ve sat at the ramen bar. They have bells at every dining station so that you can ring it and show your appreciation for the grub. They staff is supper friendly and attentive. Now to talk about the food: Dumplings are good. Hubby love the Tonkotsu Broth Ramen with extra pork. I don’t eat pork so I always order the Vegetable Broth. I’ve had it with the Chicken and Tofu, which was good. My faves would have to be the Jerk Chicken and Oxtail Ramen meals; oxtail being #1. Even though the oxtail is a ‘special’, the owner informed me that he now tries to have it on hand, daily. Yay! The meat falls off the bone and the broth makes your lips get all sticky from the cartilagenous goodness. I opt for mega size because I love my leftovers. We also always get an order of the Oyako-don Chicken Fried Rice. We found this place through Groupon and used a voucher on our first visit. They didn’t have a liquor license then but offered free sangria to make up for it. They are also BYOB so we bought a small bottle of alcohol from a nearby liquor store that recently had a grand opening. Now, they offer a few beers on tap n so you can grab a Sapporo with your meal. I am dying to try some Oxtail Buns and now that I know they will just about customize anything for you, that is definitely the next contender!

Ramen itself is average, comparing to many ramen places I tried at Manhattan. Like some people mentioned in previous reviews, the chashu park was a bit hard to bite and the bamboo shoots might not be a good combination. How about trying to add some other veggies? The owner was so good and friendly. Although the wait time was a bit long.

I have been back multiple times and it is time for an update! They have added outdoor seating/tables for those who prefer sitting outside. They have also added a ramen challenge. I don’t know the details but it has something to do with a double serving of its mega ramen. Ask Wayne for more details! They have re-arranged the layout/tables so the seating makes more sense now. However, it was a bit weird they were playing top 40 hits/music during my recent visits. Not sure if the music genre really fits a ramen shop? Services have definitely improved a lot since my first visit here. They are also experimenting with new items/flavors and I think Unilocalers have mixed feelings about them. Personally, I really like the jerk chicken. I love curry so I personally really enjoyed the curry soup base! If this is going to your first visit, maybe stick with the«typical» pork bone soup. The veggie soup was also really good. If you are into curry flavored food items, you will most likely enjoy the jerk chicken. It is innovative and well done. I think they are sticking with BYOB? Not sure since it has been BYOB since its opening. After so many visits, I finally got a chance to meet and chat with its owner Wayner. He clearly has a passion for this business and I was delighted to learn that he actually took a trip to Japan to sharpen his skills. Definitely admirable!
