We were very new to boating and we rented a pontoon for a day and had a blast. The rules and restrictions were simple and easy to follow. Parking was easy and plentiful. Great for families and responsible groups. The location is great and we went to Bubba Brews for lunch. When we returned the boat it was thoroughly inspected for damage. We kept the boat exactly as it was given to us and were not charged anything beyond the original rental fee + gas. Some tips: 1) Seating: I believe the boat could technically fit 10, but we only brought 6. The canopy only covers seating for 6, so it worked out very well. Even those that really love the sun can get overexposed without the canopy, so be careful about bringing more people. 2) Pontoon amenities: The pontoon has a Bluetooth, USB port, AUX port, and a cigarette style charger to keep your device powered. We had full LTE coverage most everywhere we went. There was room under the seats for keeping food and drinks cold. Canopy kept us mostly shaded when the sun was strongest. 3) We basically ignored the fuel gauge and went wherever we pleased. After a full day of running across the lake, and towing a bunch of people on tubes, we had used about 17 gallons of fuel. Boats use 100% gas and there’s a slight markup on the marina, so grand total of about $ 50 at today’s prices. 4) Apparently the law requires you to keep a paddle on the boat in case of emergency. This paddle is absolutely useless and that law is ridiculous. It is like using a squirt bottle on a wild fire. 865-boat-tow is the emergency paddle. Nice to haves: 1) We rented a tube and had a blast on it. However, the 90hp engine is a little weak for doing much anything. You certainly can’t water ski/board. I wish they could go just a little faster, but even at their current speed, it’s pretty fun and would recommend renting a tube. 2) I also wish they had a bigger pontoon, pontoon with a double canopy, or pontoon with an upper deck.
