Chapala Grill

We enjoyed a delicious lunch here today. It was our first time visiting and the service, food and atmosphere were terrific.

From the west and usually do not find Mexican food that tastes anything like back home. Was happily surprised to have a great dinner here. While the food was not spicy at all the flavor as good. Beans are tasty and wait staff is super friendly. Prices are fair and the restaurant was clean and very inviting.
Will be coming back

Delicious food, great ambiance, nice waiters. Everything we ordered was delicious and reasonable priced.

My first time to this establishment, again another good resturant right under my nose where I’ve been living for almost 10 years.
To parents of infants: HORRAY they had a baby changing station. Something that would earn them 1 star less if they didn’t. Parent or not no sit down resturant that might attract a family with children should be without a baby changing counter. It’s not expensive… so kudos to Chipalla Grill.
The staff was pleasant and professional. Our waitress was great because she knew when to come to the table, when we actually needed something. I’M THERE TO EAT WITH MY WIFE AND FAMILY NOT TO BE INTERVIEWED 25 TIMES BY 19 YEAR OLD WHO ASKS IF EVERYTHING IS OKAY OVER AND OVER. Get lost!!! :-) Anyway now that I have that out of the way… it’s just one of my pet peeves.
The inside is somewhat typical of a Mexican resturant… tile floor, colorfull, and somewhat loud once everyone illed the place up on this particular Friday night.
We had the Pollo Chipalla and the Krab (yes K) and Shrimp enchiladas. Everything was nice and hot. Refried beans were actually light if that’s possible. Not chunky slop as you may be used to.
The ceviche was perfect, could have eaten lots of that. The salsa and chips were also fresh tasting and not greasy. The only thing that was slightly lacking was the guacamole. Don’t get me wrong, it was okay but fairly bland. .yet was still fresh tasting… but nothing some salt and a touch of hot sause couldn’t step up.
Well done… we’ll be back soon.

I visited this place when they first opened years ago. The staff was friendly, energetic and humble. The food was incredibly authentic, tasting more like Mexican you’d find on the west coast. But boy have things changed. The staff has become overconfident, rude and a bit cocky. The food has become «Americanized» to say the least !!! Calamari at a Mexican joint? Insulting.

We Unilocaled while in new Windsor, and this place came up. Glad we stopped in. Not much from the outside, but very typical Mexican style inside. Great service, great food, nice clean bathroom and overall a great experience.

Where do I start with this shitshow? Should I begin with the explosive diarrhea it gave me or the liposuction it gave my wallet? Unreal and the service was awful the waiter couldn’t even speak English. Overall it sucks and is unamerican if you give them service you are a terrorist.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Did I mention awesome? Great atmosphere, great service, great food, great drink! Came up from Brooklyn and would definitely make the drive again to come here. The food tasted like grandma was in the kitchen making it. The service is super friendly with a smile and not over bearing and hovering. Split a half pitcher of Margarita with my husband. Fantastic! Definitely recommend!

Chipala grill is my favorite Mexican place in the area. The staff is friendly and the food is always cooked to perfection. I am a fan of Mexican food but in upstate New York is very difficult to find not only legit Mexican food but Mexican food that is cooked consistently good. Spending time in CA I was introduced to a lot of good Mexican style cooking. When I would come back home to NY I noticed that the Mexican food scene is big in Manhattan but when you come upstate your options are few. I have your answer! If you are in the area look no further than chapala grill.
Chapala grill does not look like much on the outside. I bet people drive by here all the time and have no idea what they are missing. The type of food they serve is Mexican. They have a very large menu. I usually get the chimichangas with chicken. The chimichangas are fricken amazing! You can get combo platters. They also have a good soup selection. There is a special area on there menu that is dedicated to vegetarians. Which can make the girls happy. There lunch menu is completely different than there dinner menu.
If you go to there website. They have coupons you can use. If you are into that sort of thing. Coupon or not, you should def try chapala grill.
They offer happy hour here every day. There margaritas here are huge. They will def do the job. You can split the iced mixed margarita drinks with more than one person just ask for straws. I have had the iced margaritas multiple times and sometimes the waiter will bring the blender bowl right to the table and if there is left over drink he leave it. The owner here is very nice. Sometimes I see him in the restaurant behind the bar.
Overall. If you are in the area chapala grill is one of the best Mexican places in the area to eat. I highly recommend it here. I have eaten here over 20 times and I have not had a bad experience yet.

I come here about once a week and I am delighted with their food. Their meats especially are delicious. My recommendations (best steak) are the bistec a la tampiquena and bistec acapulco.

Came here on a dive with my SO… food was timely prepared and fresh! We had flautas and the chicken fajitas; chicken was seasoned perfectly!
The service was so friendly and they even gave us a shot on the house for dessert!
Not sure why other people had a problem. It was a little expensive but IMO worth it.

Favorite Spanish food in the 845 area code. The scenery is cinco de mayo everyday and the staff is always nice and very talkative. The menu offers all sorts of authentic Hispanic food. The Texas Burrito is my personal favorite. All the food comes in huge portions and is very affordable. A must try.

Yummmmmmmmmm. Came here for lunch recently and it was delicious. Tasty, fresh Mexican food at awesome prices. Unlike some other «Mexican» restaurants in the area, you get a lot of bang for your buck — nothing is insanely overpriced. Dishes are authentic and restaurant ambiance is very nice.
Our service was extremely quick and efficient. Food was out in 15 minutes tops. Everything they served with our meals (sides, sauces, etc) was fresh and homemade.

We love this place! We visited soon after they opened and have been regulars ever since. The owner and staff are always super welcoming and friendly. They make you feel like you’re dining with friends. The food is excellent. I’m especially partial to their Mole enchiladas, but also enjoy the chicken Jalisco, or virtually any of their seafood dishes/​specials. The avocado/​shrimp/​crab appetizer is so fresh and tasty. My husband lets the owner or waitstaff recommend a dish, and he’s always pleased with their choices. Margaritas are great and the «43» that often accompanies the check is a nice touch.

Great place, good atmosphere. I ordered the fish taco meal for my wife a half hour before they closed and it was ready by the time I got there. She enjoyed them, which makes for a good night for me. The guacamole I ordered was fresh made and delicious.

Service wasn’t good at all very slow & the food was not that hot when served, I understand they were busy, maybe they should hire more servers!

Dinner here on a Thursday night with a party of 7. It took a little while before a waiter came over and greeted us. The restaurant was pretty empty and we were the only large party. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa seemed a little watered down but it had a nice flavor. We ordered the appetizer of the day which was calamari. I personally wouldn’t have ordered calamari from a Mexican restaurant but everyone really enjoyed it. My Aunt ordered a red wine sangria but had to add 3 packets of sugar to it since it wasn’t sweet enough. The waiter said he would make it sweet for the next one she ordered, but she had to add the packets again. My boyfriend had the chicken enchiladas. My aunt had the chicken burritos. Everyone else including myself had the fajitas. I personally had the skirt steak fajitas. The fajitas had a great flavor but lacked the components of peppers, onions and tomatoes. The yellow rice was bland, I’d prefer a box of rice. The beans were okay. The wait staff messed up with one of the ordered of fajitas but fixed it with a new order of fajitas. The wait staff didn’t apologize or admit they made a mistake with that order. Throughout the meal I had to keep asking the wait staff for refills on the drinks. That’s one thing I dislike when dining out. Overall, food was good & service sucked that’s why I took 2 stars away.
