I refuse to go anywhere else for brunch! The cocktails, the food, the service– OUTSTANDING. I work in hospitality and recommend this place to every single one of our guests. I had the pleasure of meeting Anthony, the bartender, last visit and he is amazing. See you all soon!

Brunch place — had reservations otherwise no walk in spots !!! Packed place! Hosts were very nice and helpful. Ordered the CA omelette which was very good. The Parmesan egg with grits was a bit bland and needed extra sauce for seasoning. Tuna tartare was bland as well. Portions were just perfect– not too big and not too small. Coffee and tea were freshly brewed! Ordered pancakes also but were stuffed– host easily cancelled them– yay for good service!!!

We came here because 44& x was too busy. I love the décor and the menu. The names of the cocktails are pretty funny. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and a Bloody Mary. They were ehh underwhelming. My friend’s blueberry pancakes were really good but small in portions. The servers were nice and I love their pink shirts, I wanted to buy one lol. It’s not amazing but a decent spot for brunch. I would come back since I live in the area.

Disappointed. Underwhelming. Not worth it. I came here for brunch with my boyfriend based on raving reviews from our friends and I was pretty excited. The space is amazing. Love the cute T-shirts that all the wait staff wears. My boyfriend and I ordered the Spicy Shakira and the Tina Turner Proud Berry. Good, not great. The Proud Berry tasted somewhat watered down even after it came out. I didn’t taste the Spicy Shakira, but my boyfriend was not impressed. We left them both unfinished. Not worth the $ 12-$ 13 price tag. For brunch, we ordered the Parmesan Scrambled Eggs and the Salmon Benedict. Sigh. I could have gone to an IHOP and gotten a tastier meal. The eggs were tasteless(I had to get ketchup in order for me to eat them). The grits were bland. The potatoes and the bacon were the redeeming quality. I tried my boyfriend’s Salmon Benedict and the English muffin was tough and not toasted. The hollandaise… meh. I wanted to love this place so much, but I left extremely disappointed. I can say, however, our server Terry was easily the best thing about our visit. Prompt, attentive, and just a genuinely nice person. I felt awful that I didn’t enjoy our visit more because he was so great. Thanks, Terry! My recommendation: try something else in HK.

Came here for a group brunch. The service was terrible from beginning to end. We got seated 30 mins after our reservation time, and didn’t get our food until 45 mins after that. The waiter threw in a free round of drinks to compensate for whatever chaos was ensuing in the kitchen, which was a nice gesture but not really much comfort when you’re starving and sick of waiting. When the food finally did arrive, it was less than mediocre. The yuckiest english muffin came with my omelette. The ambiance is nice, especially if you are lucky enough to sit by the outdoor patio area, but I won’t be back. The city has tons of better options.

I’m torn on 44 ½! The food is good but nowhere near as good as 44 X. The service, however, is measurably worse. On more than one occasion I’ve heard staff trash talking their manager behind his back. The place is cute though, and it’s not too hard to get a reservation — they have fun brunch drinks and decent coffee. Not a bad choice in the neighborhood but they need to step it up in the service department.

Went here for a birthday dinner and the experience was disappointing. I understand large parties can be difficult to handle but the waiter was very aloof and uninterested in our group despite a mostly empty restaurant. Instead the staff mostly congregated and broke glasses near the bar. The bartender started yelling and loudly complaining for ice at one point. I’ve been of the opinion the food is nothing special at 44 ½ and the dinner meet that expectation. The Kobe burger was acceptable but over priced. At least the wine selection is good and I highly recommend Educated Guess for a red. Compared to the last time I was here about a year ago the entire staff seems to have been replaced. This placing is sliding downhill fast.

Disappointed with our visit to this establishment recently. Was looking forward to a great dinner, the space is excellent, and empty at 7:30pm, where was everyone, with large tall ceilings and what looked to be a cute outdoor space in the back. But that turned sour quickly. As some previous reviews mentioned, our waiter that evening didn’t seem interested in wanting to take our table. Waiter seemed rude and abrupt. And when our food arrived some people had the incorrect order placed in front of them there was a little bit of confusion. And during our meal the bar manager was yelling at the staff for ice, after a couple of glasses fell at the bar, and was swearing and using the«F» word! We couldn’t believe it. It can be a pain to have a large group, but groups equal lots of beverages, food, which in turn equal $$$ to the restaurant. The food; just average. For a $ 25-$ 35 price point for an entrée, figure the food would be superb. Medium well steaks were cooked overly well done, a couple of people’s meals were a little bit cold. Obviously take every review with a grain of salt but hope the staff can be a little bit more energetic, and professional with future guests.

Slowest service ever. Our server, Fernando, and the rest of the waitstaff ignored us most of the night. The hostess was nice though.

Had brunch here and it was really really not good, bordering on awful. I feel like I need to handicap it because we were in a large group, which always makes things more hectic, so I’m going 2 stars and not 1. Service: Barely registered as service at all. Our waiter never actually addressed the table — no «Hi my name is X and I’ll be serving you today», no requests for coffee/tea/cocktails, nothing. Instead he just came around out of the blue and asked us individually(and brusquely) «What’s your order?» So right off the bat the flow of the meal was very strange — usually you take drink orders, then food, but this was so hectic. When our food did come out, there was a ton of confusion over who ordered what — probably ½ our group got something put in front of them that wasn’t theirs, and when I told the waiter the dish he’d placed in front of me wasn’t mine, he was audibly annoyed with me. Food: Basic and not very good. I got the breakfast sandwich which comes on brioche. It was pretty bland, with greens on the side that were barely dressed. Boyf got the parmesan eggs with grits, and he said the eggs weren’t seasoned at all, and there wasn’t any salt and pepper anywhere on the table. All of the egg dishes(omelettes etc.) come with an English muffin on the side, but there was no butter or jam offered. The one major plus of this place is the space — it’s open and airy, with tall ceilings, and is pretty beautiful. But the service and the food were so blah it couldn’t redeem the experience.

Passed by this place a million times and never stopped by for their delicious-looking brunch(which starts relatively late: 11am). Wonderful décor on the inside, we got seated in the garden-area; equipped with heat-lamps during the colder months. Free cornbread muffin to start is a nice touch, served with a cup of butter. Settled on the Vanilla Latte($ 4.50) to go with the Deep Dish French Toast($ 15). The latte is certainly frothy, which evens out the temperature in the coffee. Good start, but I was hoping to have it with my meal, which didn’t show up until my drink was done. Large hearty square of French Toast topped with caramelized pecans on top of a sweet syrup. Syrup was heavenly and actually tasted the best with the salty bacon on the side. The toast itself was flaky and not too filling despite its dense nature. Small fruit salad to end the meal is a refreshing finish. Really enjoyed the food and ambiance here. A bit on the pricey end, and service is up and down. Looking at the even pricier dinner menu, will stick with the brunch.

This is a solid place in a cluster of restaurants on 10th, a bit removed from all the craziness on 9th in HK. The food is generally decent to good. Not sure I’ve ever had anything I’d call great though. They have some seating out front when the weather is nice, and a large patio out back that they enclose for colder weather. It’s a clean place with a classy feel, but you don’t need to be dressed up to go there. The servers(mostly men) wear t-shirts with«clever» things on them. The service is usually good. They are good for dinner and brunch. On the Saturday after New Years we were able to walk in and get a table around noon, which was nice.

Very very very pink. Nothing special, went there for brunch. Place ok if you like pink, service ok, food ok, price in-line with NY brunch. We chose to go there mainly because it was close to our apt, but I was not thrilled by the brunch, so would probably choose a more original experience if I had the possibility to go somewhere else.

44.5 is a spacious ‘New American’ brunching restaurant in the Hell’s Kitchen area. They serve an amazing crab cake Benedict and had great service! My friend suggested a ladies brunch here and someone else booked the restaurant for 6, so I just showed up and waited. SERVICE– Super important for a large party of women. The host was very amiable for a busy Sunday afternoon and each of the waiters were so sweet. The barista remade a latte for one of my friends because she thought it was too sweet and couldn’t finish drinking it. Food– Every lady loved her plate. Almost everyone picked their plate clean. My crab cake Benedict was perfect! Chunks of crab, perfectly poached egg, toasted English muffin. And I loved the small fruit salad that came with my crab cakes. And the small salad. The home fries were a little soggy and limp looking, so I didn’t finish eating those. I only eat crispy home fries. The drinks were strong and acceptable. Our friend ordered a bloody Mary($ 14) — which looked great! Had olives, a branch of celery and looked more substantial than the mimosa. My mimosa was ok for the price($ 10). Its just champagne and orange juice. DECOR– Lots of pink lights, pink shirts, pink Christmas bulbs and pink lanterns(See pic). And purple roses for the tables. Contrasted with the large long marble bar. Its was aesthetically pleasing. Everyone liked the way 44.5 looked. Thanks for the great service!

I am rarely one to allow service to detract from a meal, but sometimes when it’s really, really poor, it just does. Brunch at 44 ½ was one of those instances. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, it was one service faux pas after another — to the point where it began to make the food(which was overall pretty good,) actually taste bad. We made reservations for 11:15 but weren’t seated until 12pm. The bartender(since we sat at the bar and waited,) didn’t serve me my coffee until the third time I asked. And he seemed annoyed over where exactly we were sitting. Thanks to the pathetic organization of this place, we were all confused; get off your high horse. Were we just waiting at the bar or had the host decided we’d be dining there? Would we be served drinks at the bar? Or did we have to be seated to get drinks? Finally, we were seated and served. I was hoping the service would improve, but no. The waiter brought out the bill while we were mid-meal. Wow. And then he actually came over and opened the bill to see if we’d put our cards in. Excuse me? Did I just walk into an alternate dimension? What establishment does this? I had no words. I knew brunching in midtown would be a mistake, but I had no idea just how horrible it would be. I will never come back. And for all those deciding whether or not to give 44 ½ a chance, don’t. This is a city full of beautiful brunch restaurants. Try any of those.

Sunday evening, party of four, 9 o’clock reservation. It was very good! We ordered 2 bottles of wine and 6 appetizers to split between 4 hungry women: Chopped Salad — ok Tuna Tartare — awesome! Short Rib Quesadilla — amazing!!! Ravioli — skip it Crabmeat Terrine — my diners loved it, I didn’t Frisee Salad — awesome! Our server was very cool, friendly and patient with our boozy behavior. The garden is a beautifully quaint place to dine, albeit very very dark.

Went here for Sunday brunch. Good thing is, 44 ½ is one of the few places who accepts brunch reservations! We had reservations for 11:30 pm and the place was relatively empty. We got outside seating in the patio. For drinks, we got the Lady Gaga(Mimosa) and Spicy Shakira(Bloody Mary). Both drinks were just okay. At $ 13 for Spicy Shakira, I felt it was just too watered down and lacked some serious punch in the drink! For our brunch entrees, we got the California Omelette and 44 ½ Breakfast Sandwich. Both dishes lacked flavor and salt and had nothing great to offer taste wise. Portion wise. quite generous portions, so while they are priced at upwards of $ 16 each, the portion size justifies the price. Plate presentation was good on both dishes. Just 1 really gross thing we observed. my wife saw a little mouse run past a few guest seating against the right hand side wall. This ruined my experience and it was definitely bothering me! Service wise no complaints. Warm and welcoming hosts and servers.
