I love 83 ½. It’s conveniently located if you live in Yorkville. The space has a romantic, intimate ambiance inside. It is lovely to dine outside in front in the summertime(nice foliage guarding one side, creating a garden feel). Service is great. The servers are friendly and attentive. Also, willing to make changes and accommodations to certain dishes to make them more vegetarian friendly, which we appreciated! The food is great. My absolute favorite is the eggplant parmigiana appetizer. Sometimes I come here just for that, when I am craving it. It is SOGOOD– creamy and buttery smooth and the sauce is incredible. The fiocchi is delicious as well, yummy sage butter sauce. This is one of my faves too. Their red sauce is fantastic. Vodka sauce too. Desserts are good too. Chocolate lava cake is so good. During our most recent, we asked for some vanilla ice cream on the side with it… I recommend doing that! It’s delicious with the cake. This is one of my favorites and my go to when I want a nice, warm, delicious meal with a special ambiance. The wines are a bit on the expensive side, but I think the food is not overpriced.

I’m not sure how I haven’t heard of this place, as it took a year on the UES to find it. The pasta was legit. I had the paccheri with vodka sauce and it was glorious. The rest of our group of six seemed extremely happy with their pasta choices as well. Really the only miss was the decision to add vanilla to the kale salad… it tasted like they had tossed the salad in vanilla coke to me. That said, I would say the taste was 50⁄50 liked-disliked at the table. I plan on going back a bunch of times.

The ambiance was nice. But, I ordered their mesculun parmesan salad and it was the most uninteresting salad in NY I’ve ever had. My husband ordered the sauteed artichokes that were overfried. I then ordered the Branzino. Disappointing. It was more of a mild piece of Tilapia with a fried artichoke topping. The fish was $ 28 which made it it more disappointing.

Excellent food(especially the truffle ravioli) but the quantity and price simply did not add up.

Still a great place and reasonably priced. Home made pasta is the winner. Linguine frutti mare was a bit bland for my taste. Had Really nice Valpolicella Superio. Keep it up guys and gals!

Sure there are better Italian restaurants I’m NYC, but I do love this place. I’ve been here twice already, and although is small and very busy, I always manage to get same night reservations. Both times I’ve been here I’ve had their Fiocchi 4 Formaggi and is AMAZINGGGG! Is unlike nothing I’ve ever had. Their salads are just OK. Will definitely go back for those amazing Fiocchis once the cravings strike again.

Ordered take out from this place and granted I knew since it was take out that the food wasn’t going to be excellent. I ordered 2 orders of the truffle ravioli and the prosciutto appetizer. $ 75.00 worth of food and it was the worst thing I’ve had. One of the containers in my bag holding the truffle ravioli broke and the sauce was everywhere, the food was completely Cold, there was only 5 raviolis in each order and the containers were too big to even put them in so they were all over the place. What’s more disheartening is that I called the place and let the hostess know what was going on. The owner called me within 5 minutes and I explained to him exactly what had happened. I was expecting to be sent another meal or my money back for this horrible experience. His exact words were«I can offer you a complimentary $ 15.00 glass of wine if you ever come in». I literally couldn’t believe he said that. I threw the food out and I will never order from this place again please be cautious.

I attended an engagement party here and our group was about 10 – 12 people. Even though the restaurant itself is small, it was perfectly cozy for our group. The food was absolutely delicious but what stood out to me most was the great service. Our group was pretty rambunctious but our waiter was attentive and polite. They even helped us uncork the champagne our party brought. I recommend this restaurant for any time you want amazing food and great service in an intimate but not intimidating atmosphere.

This new Italian spot is perfect for an intimate dinner with friends. The ambiance is dim lit and cozy. The food was great, a few things were outstanding, between the eggplant parmigiana appetizer and the four cheese pasta in a cream sauce I’m not sure I’ve had a better pasta in a while. They also had a great wine selection and service. I will def be coming back here :).

Hosted a birthday dinner for myself and 9 guests here last night and then I promptly created a Unilocal account to give this review. It was truly a seamless evening with great service and awesome food. I reached out the restaurant a month prior to my birthday to ask about their specials/menus for larger parties and received an almost immediate response saying not only could they create a three course pre-fixe meal at $ 35 pp, but that on Wednesday nights they host a BYOB(corkage fee $ 25 for as many bottles as we wanted to bring)! I was sold. A few days later I received a mocked up menu. I made one request — change the salmon dish to a chicken dish — and they totally accommodated, sending me a revised menu for confirmation. The night of the party, some guests arrived up to an hour late, but the staff let us sit at our table, open our wine and hang out until we were ready. Then, once we were all there, our food came out fast and HOT. And it was GOOD. Seriously, go here. Small place, great atmosphere. Excellent service. Go on a date here, throw a party here, just go. Tonight.

Another wonderful meal at 83 ½! Last night, I had smaller than usual dinner group, just 4 people, and loved the food and the service. I will continue to come back.

Cute little place, so I was disappointed that the food didn’t match the atmosphere. The burrata salad was good, the wine(cabernet sauvignon) was excellent, the chocolate lava cake was good, but my main dish(short rib pasta) was not good. The pasta was too al dente and the dish lacked flavor. My main complaint was with our server, he brought my friend’s dessert but completely forgot mine! After we reminded him, he insisted I hadn’t ordered dessert, we both insisted that I had and he finally put in the order and brought it. I found this place to be overpriced. Unless you live in the neighborhood, I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit, there are better Italian restaurants.

I live on the block and attended brunch here with a large group — a mixed older /younger crowd. The waitstaff was incredibly accommodating and sweet. There was no pressure to do bottomless brunch, but those who decided to we’re pleased with their drinks. The brunch menu is a nice mix of breakfast and lunch options(I feel like some places have predominantly breakfast-focused brunch; I generally prefer lunch). I had a chicken sandwich which featured avocado and a great sauce. I’d love to come back here for dinner. The specials on the board outside always make my stomach growl.

This place is consistently disappointing to me– oversalted food, fishy calamari, and overcooked lava cake to cite a few examples. Yet I keep returning because my friend likes it here. They are extremely nice– I think they mean well. But my own experience just hasn’t been great. I have taken bites of other people’s food that has been decent. But… still never great. Don’t go out of your way to come here.

This is probably the best food i’ve ever had. Even better than food i’ve had in various parts of Italy. The brussel sprouts are incredible. The braised beef and pasta is to die for. Seriously, give this place a shot. It isn’t huge so a reservation would be advisable.

Food is spot on. Excellent octopus, mushroom flan, and burrata appetizers. The four cheese pasta with pear, sage and brown butter is really special. Really just solidly excellent food. And, shockingly, for a high end spot, I hear they’re on seamless!

I’m back for another review! This place is so great that they deserve a second review! My husband and I have been here several times since our first encounter when we came with a Groupon. This is one of our favorite places on the UES! The ambiance is amazing, the food is incredible, the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable and the presentation is beautiful. I cannot say enough about this place. I have been here with friends, with parents, on a date and it is just the perfect spot. The food is always unbelievable. I have never eaten anything here that was less than a 100%! Last night we started with the tomato and burrata bruschetta. It was a gorgeous plate, so gorgeous that I had to take a picture of it! The burrata was so creamy and the tomatoes were served warm — what a nice touch!(See my picture) Next, we ordered 3 servings of the pesto spaghetti with the chicken meatballs. This dish has become a staple when we come here. I love to cook, but I have not been able to accomplish the fluffy-ness that these chicken meatballs have. Eating meatballs mixed with their fresh homemade spaghetti and pesto is truly an experience in itself. This is a must have when you come here — a real comfort plate.(See my picture) Last we ordered the hot lava cake. It was a hard decision as I LOVE the cremisu(which is a mix of crème brûlée and tiramisu) and the lava cake. We were in a chocolate mood and couldn’t handle eating 2 desserts so we went with the lava cake. As I said in my first review this is the BEST lava cake I have ever had(you can see in my picture). The whipped cream is fresh and the cake itself is delicious and it is so gooey. If you are a chocolate lover — this dessert is for you! After our meal, we were sitting, chatting and finishing up our coffees, when Vincenzo(the owner) came over to inquire about our meal. He was so kind and was genuinely interested in how our food and experience was at 83 ½. He pulled up a chair and we chatted for a while about food, played restaurant geography in the tri-state area and us praising his restaurant and how much we truly love his place. Chef David also pulled up a chair and joined our conversation. This was such a great part of our meal. We love when we get to meet the masterminds behind a great restaurant! This is a really special place and they are a true example of perfection. I highly recommend stopping in and checking this place out!
