Just visited this store with a specific brand in mind and came out with something completely different — an amazingly comfortable, functional, funky coat — that I love so much, I don’t want to take it off. I wouldn’t have even seen it without the terrific customer service. Also bought a scarf that looks both gorgeous and effortless. In short, all that one hopes for from a boutique.

ATTENTION: THEADDRESSOFTHISBOUTIQUEISLISTEDWRONG. A UNOTRIBECAISLOCATEDAT123WESTBROADWAY, BETWEENDUANEANDREADE. In TriBeCa If you are looking for NOT your dime a dozen little black dress, or are looking for some out of ordinary shoes, then check this place out! Not cheap, but everything I’ve bought here has been lasting for years in pristine condition. They carry Trippen shoes. I have a pair of boots and a pair of sandals and they always get a lot of comments. Ruth does alterations and there is nothing she can’t fix. They don’t have ordinary designers, so chances are if you shop at A Uno, you won’t look like one of the Stepford wives. So, what’s not to like?

The selection of clothing, jewelry, hats and shoes is astonishing. New displays of clothing from European designers including Rundholz, Elm, Marithe et Francois Girbaud and more… will not disappoint. Friendly service with help to select the perfect clothing and accessories to fit your body type. I love shopping here.

Amazingly warm customer service & they offer layaway. Its mind blowing to find either in a boutique downtown.

Love this store. Wonderful, wearable, comfortable chic clothing and shoes, collected in one place. Cool jewelry too. And one place that doesn’t cater to teeny boppers. It’s a must stop whenever I need something special as well as for clothes that travel perfectly.

I don’t like to shop, so when I find a place that has clothing I really like — well-made, stylish, comfortable, original, and offbeat(I have a weakness for the asymmetrical) — I’ll return to it over and over. A Uno has just become that store for me, and I’m a lifelong New Yorker. Prices are high for my budget but I’ve found terrific stuff on sale, and these are the clothes that I reach for time and again, no matter what the occasion. The selection of Trippen shoes is the best I’ve seen. Fantastic hats. And Ruthie the proprietor is enormously helpful without being push. an absolute find.

I have been making semi-annual pilgrimages to see Ruthy Byers at A Uno Tribecca for over 10 years now and as always, I leave with a shopping bag full of beautifully designed clothing from European designers like Rundholz, Elm, a bene(their new, in-house designed line), Girbaud and more. Ruthy has an incredible eye and is an excellent seamstress for any alterations you require. She is the very definition of exceptional customer service — she always picks out perfect pieces to suit my body type and personal style. The clothes I have bought here over the years always become my signature pieces that I wear again and again. They are often asymmetrical and always unique and memorable. You must visit A Uno the next time you are in NYC — your closet will thank you!

A Uno and its companion shoe store offer a refreshing assortment of women’s styles and designers. While some of the names are familiar — Marithe et Francois Girbaud, for instance, many of the designers are unusual. The Icelandic knitwear brand Elm Designs is one you don’t see anywhere else. The clothes tend to be more arty than trendy, so the look is definitely more downtown than uptown. Or rather, more downtown, the way downtown used to be. The companion shoe store(two doors down from the clothing store) offers unusual shoes that are not carried widely, like Trippen, Robert Clergerie, Cydwoq, Tentazione and Yosuke Yajima. The offerings are light on stilettos, and heavy on flats, platforms and wedges. So, if you’re looking for an outfit for an art opening or museum show, come to A Uno. Of course, if you need a sweater and a pair of pants, you can shop at A Uno as well.
