I absolutely love AKT. I went to their Upper East Side location for a while, and now this new NoMad studio is the place to be downtown! The signature workout, Happy Hour is such an amazing and fun dance cardio workout, and I always leave class drenched in sweat and happy! They incorporate strength training which is great as well. The studio looks nice, it always smells nice, the bathrooms have great products, and the people at the front desk(and the company’s team more broadly) are wonderful. If you’re not into dancing as much, I recommend some of their other no-dancing classes 4Play and AKTone– intervals of strength training with no dancing. They really manage to make you work every muscle in creative ways(resistance bands from the ceilings, using towels, etc.) The dance choreography changes every 2 weeks so its enough time for you to get a hang of the steps before they change! If you go, look out for Dee, the studio manager– she’s so friendly, professional, and will even jump into class with you. All the trainers are wonderful, friendly, supportive– and intense. Even if you’re not in the best shape(me when I first came to AKT) or a dancer, you can get a great workout. I love going to Jamie’s Happy Hour class– she’s a great dancer and her music is so, so good!

AKT is my favorite regular boutique studio at which to work out, and it’s a simple answer as to the why: 1) the instructors are great – encouraging, friendly, dynamic, corrective, challenging 2) the classes are intense, with a nice variety type of cardio, hiit and toning. all a great workout, and always changing routines so you don’t get bored 3) if you love to dance, which I do, their version of dance cardio mixes interval training, light weights, plyometrics, and heart-beat-out-of-your-chest cardio in the form of progressive choreography. so fun! the more you come, the more you get out of it! 4) amenities! as an also classpasser, I really appreciate having a regular studio with nice facilities, lockers, products stocked in the ladies, etc 5) new midtown location – easy to access, much more convenient for me than uptown 6) add-on programs: for more in depth one-on-one, partnerships with nutrition; I’m in the InTensive now and it’s great. No regrets ****hey, AKT, this is a plea: bring back the 90 minute Saturday morning S(moke)&M(irrors) class. It’s all that’s missing!

AKT is the best cardio workout I have had in my life. Beyond the incredible workout the staff and trainers are wonderful, supportive and community oriented. This is an excellent environment in which to further any of your fitness goals.

AMAZING workout! I have been an athlete my whole life and have yet to find a single workout class that feels as good as AKT! Highly recommend starting with AKTease to learn the basic steps and a breakdown of the dance combination that will appear in the Happy Hour class. In addition to wonderful instructors, the studio is just beautiful and the facilities are amazing. Highly recommend!!!

I’ve been a loyal AKT fan for about a year and a half, trekking to the UES from all over the city, and so excited for the recent launch of the Nomad studio! The Happy Hour classes are AMAZING — i’ve tried tons of different dance cardio and other classes in the city and it’s the best workout out there– truly combining cardio, dancing, and strength building, and it’s so much fun! As someone who took dance classes as a kid, I love the way we learn choreography every 2 weeks — allowing you to perfect the moves but also never getting old! The cardio is also way more intense than a typical dance class– you’ll leave red-faced and dripping with sweat. I love the way the strength/toning and stretching is incorporated imbetween the cardio songs, getting a full body workout in one hour!

I love AKT! I’m not a great dancer, but the dancing portion of most of the classes is hard enough to keep me focused, but not so difficult I get frustrated. I’m a runner, so the cardio part doesn’t kill me, but the lower body stuff is just the right amount of cross-training I need and want. The space is beautiful and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I would love more afternoon classes.

It was my first time and the AKTease class was amazing! Hard core and so much fun. The hour breezed by and I got a great workout. Sasha is a fantastic teacher. I will definitely be going back for more AKTease and to try their other classes. The space is beatiful and the staff is very accommodating. They are a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
