I am just shocked that yesterday(02÷05÷16) I ordered a Cuban Sandwich that came with tostones and I ordered an extra sweet plantains plate. Everything was very good and (02÷06÷15), I ordered on line an arroz con pollo and asked for some tostones on note… this is when the drama start… I got a call from a young inexperienced girl with a loud back that I barely understand her telling me that the tostones were additional. I told her that it was ok and cancelled the 6 pieces tostones for the staggering $ 6.00 extra. After a long time waiting, the arroz con pollo came… Mon Dieu!!! It smelled terrible, not the arroz con pollo we eat in Latin America. I have to send that back. It was a very sour experience and I guess I am going to keep ordering from Sophies Cuban.

Brought my family to celebrate my aunts birthday here. Amazing food, amazing place, the people just the sweetest had live music and it was fabulous. They sang my aunt happy birthday one of the best meals I’ve had in NYC with family and friends. Invest in this place they are amazing. Authentic in their ingredients and creative with their menu. Great place !

Food was absolutely horrible. The rice was yellow not white and extremely greasy. The beans when you let them settle you can see the oil that is used. The roasted chicken looked more like a sick chicken. The people are extremely nice but this is not Cuban food.

Really enjoyed this Cuban spot. Dim lights, live music the perfect little date spot. Not many seats and not much room to move around but that didn’t affect my experience. Had a gin and ginger drink that was amaze balls! Empenadas were good the chicken a bit dry but still tasty. I had the fried pork for dinner and it was delicious. The tostones were good not dry and the garlic accompanying sauce was so good I’d bathe in it. Service was fast, attentive and friendly. I will be returning.

I work in The area and my colleague and I stopped in for lunch. We shared a lunch special that came with a chicken empanada and Cuban sandwich, and ordered yuca fritas, they were both very delicious! The waitress and owner was very attentive and we inquired about having an after work event there which the owner was very helpful… They even gave us a free dessert! The flan was amazing. We are definitely going back to for our work event

My introduction to Amor Cubano was a going away lunch for a colleague and the only thing I can whine about is that I haven’t had another coworker celebration recently so we could have a good excuse for a long lunch at Amor Cubano! This place is wonderful. You can’t exactly get away with serving bad Latin food in New York City. This city knows it’s stuff when it comes to that. Especially this neighborhood. Amor Cubano knows what it is doing and keeps it traditional and classy without crossing the line into being full of itself. We Latinos think of a meal as a time to respect the food, respects yourself, and respects the experience. Amor Cubano keeps to that. The food is divine! Traditional dishes gussied up a bit made me never want to leave. Typically I would recommend one or two dishes, but honestly everyone in our group raved about their dishes. Me? I would go with the chicken(Bistec de Pollo… which is a weird name to me but whatever). It was juicy and full of flavor, especially for a lunch dish. Can’t wait to have a chunk of time in my day to go back. Honestly, the only reason I haven’t made it back yet is because service isn’t quite fast enough for my typical lunch break so I need to plan ahead for a visit because I’m not trying to rush Amor Cubano!

I discovered this place a few years back and have recommended it to everyone I know. So far everyone has loved it. The food is excellent, décor is nice(brick walls ftw) and most nights they have a live salsa band that performs while you eat. Also, the mojitos are great.

This place gives off nice tranquil vibes, for a quiet dinning experience. The staff and service was amazing and attentive. The churrasco was delicious(too good to return, even though my medium order lacked red juicy drip). I enjoyed the salad nicely prepared. Drinks? Happy hour prices, not too inviting. The sangria could have used more kick of alcohol.

What a great find! First time here on a Saturday night and there is a live salsa band. The hostess and wait staff are excellent, totally attentive yet not pushy, and the food was delicious. We ate like kings and danced too! Perfect place for a date night. And there is parking everywhere. Enjoy!

This place has such amazing food! I was very surprised and excited to try the Ropa Vieja. The portion was huge and for $ 19 at a restaurant it was worth every cent. The flavor was exquisite. I also got a Sangria pitcher and although it was a bit on the strong side, it was delicious. After listening to amazing music by Jeremy de Jesús and his band, I indulged in the Tres Lechea and OMG! It took me to Havana and back. It was Soooo good. I wasnt to go back ASAP just to get the same time over again! There was even an engagement party going on and it was the sweetest thing. Bring your friends, enjoy the atmosphere and be proud of your roots!

I am a depressed person at the moment. Never have been. But currently dealing with depression and I don’t know why. I brought myself out to eat here for dinner, and Fernando was amazing. I couldn’t stop crying. He brought me tissues, offered to open the bar for me, and asked if he could hug me even though he didn’t know the problem. I’ve never experienced such sincere, empathetic service in my life. Hugs are everything in these moments. The food was amazing. Atmosphere made me feel at home enough to cry in public. I would eat here every time I’m in NYC, happy or sad. My dinner was just what I needed. Perfectly seasoned(and I always add salt to everything, but I didn’t this time, because I didn’t need to). My mojito was everything. And my tres leches cake was just as delicious. They have two locations. Make sure to show love to this amazing family business. Xo

I found my cuban sandwhich not so interesting i had about 3 or 4 bites just to put something in my belly and left the rest. Alrhough it was good portions i found it bland. The pernil was chopped and very bland and dry, the mustard helped alot. The pickles were not that good. Friend ordered the grilled chicken with rice and beans. It was mediocre. The chickeb was a little on the dry side but seasoned pretty good but overcooked. Maybe because it was delivery?

One word: WOW. This place is top notch and I’m so happy I found it. I came here with two other friends after helping them adopt a cat and I have to say it is probably one of the best Latin food restaurants I’ve tasted in Manhattan. The food is very good quality and cooked to perfection. Perfectly flavored and you can tell a lot of care is put into it. I had the grilled chicken. The service is great too and they actually have live entertainment that is really great. The guys singing were a delight. I’d definitely recommend for anyone in the area that needs a good Cuban fix.

It’s difficult to make a review since it was one of the first cuban places I came when I moved to NYC. I loved it! But if I have to compare it to Floridita or Havana Café then it would be a 3 star review. The 4 stars are because the owner, who’s Argentinian too, was super nice and we talked for a long time. He said that him and his wife put the place together with his mother in law dishes. So it’s a cozy and familiar place. He even gave us a complimentary chorizo which I think is the best chorizo(Argentinian chorizo) that I had in the city. It came with a great chimichurri sauce. The Cubano sandwich was ok but not even close to the other places. The appetizers were better like the croquette. The thing I loved the most was the complimentary pastries with Dulce de leche! What a surprise! I would come back for a weekend night since they have live music

The atmosphere is spot on, the music the way the waiters and waitresses are dress, it literally make you wanna go to Cuban, and the mojitos are very refreshing! It’s great for a loud date or groups and friends! The customer service is nice and they are very polite.

I decided to give Amor Cubano a try because of the deal they are offering in the scout mob app. They are offering 50% off your bill up to $ 20. Since I was stuck in East Harlem during the«blizzard of the century»(sarcasm) I was presented with the perfect opportunity to Check this place out. The first thing I noticed when I walked into this place was its vibe. Dim lighting and smooth Latin music playing. The décor really made me feel like I was in Havana. This is a very sexy and intimate spot. The vibe here is perfect for a date. The food: They start your meal off with an appetizer of plantain chips. Thinly cut non ripened plantains fried and served with a creamy green sauce. These would have been amazing had they not been stale. They were so stale that they were almost impossible to chew. Great idea to serve this as an appetizer but horrible execution. I also ordered the empanadas as an appetizer. I had the beef and chicken Empanada and there were both Excellent! The exterior was soft and flakey and they were stuffed with seasoned meat and beens. These empanadas had the perfect level of spice and tasted like they were made from scratch when I ordered them. For the entrée I ordered the churasco Steak. The churasco was served with beans and rice. It was cooked medium just like I asked, and seasoned well. Not the best churasco I’ve ever had but certainly very good. The beans were also quite flavorful I’m pretty sure they used some type of pork as a flavoring agent. Overall I really liked this place. They did an excellent job at taking my mind away from the blizzard outside and making me feel like I was on a tropical island for an hour. The food was very good for the most part. They would have easily earned 4 stars from me had it not been for those stale plantain chips. Those were horrendous and they lost a star for that slip up. I’ve been to three Cuban restaurants recently(Guantaramera, Cafecito and Amor Cubano. Amor is easily the most authentic of the three and has the best food of the three as well. I would definitely comeback if I was in the area and I would increase their star rating provided they fixed that issue with the plantains and the rest of the food was on par with what I ate last night.

Every time I come here I love it even more. A few Thursdays ago we came just for drinks. The restaurant wasn’t crowded at all, in fact it was about less than¼ full. There was live music. This lady put on a show as if it were a full house. She had a lot of energy and really got us going. She was also very personable and got everyone involved in her performance. I also loved that the small band consisted of only women. GIRLPOWER! The waitstaff is always so freindly and sweet. The girls are great. They’re always smiling and so accommodating. When you go, and you know you will because my review is so great, please tip very well. I tried a new dish last week and I can’t believe it has taken me so long to try it. I’m committed to trying everything on the menu. I don’t remember the name but it’s ground beef with onions, olives, and raisins. They even added a fried egg on top. It comes with white rice and black beans, my favorite. Wow wow wow. So delicious. Definitely taste like mom’s cooking. Real homemade flavor. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
