I checked out this place for a quick breakfast. They have a few choices of yogurts– mango, fig, apricot. I loved the Fig. Salads are ok– couscous, cucumber, bean and zucchini. Not a fan of the taste. Beans too salty, couscous bland. The bakhlava is ok. Huge portions and sweet– super– sweet. I have had much better ones. Overall ok place. Pricy for the food quality.

Anthi’s is a take out place and if you know what to order, gets five stars. All of their yogurts are fantastic, especially the full fat. Apricot, sour cherry, mango — all of them. The hot entrees are great — mousakka, stuffed peppers, pastistio — also an eggplant stuffed with meat that is great for a paleo diet. The chicken in filo pastry is great and also unusual. The zuchini version and the spanakopita are delicious with lots of vegetables and just the right amount of greek cheese. Every dessert I’ve tried is great. Some of the cold salads are good — like the beet salad. The tarama is salty but OK. The hummus and baba are either terrible or made according to a Greek taste that I do not share. The cold salads were also so-so. But order carefully and take home a feast — and the prices are very reasonable.

While the food here is very good, I don’t understand why it’s listed under restaurants. It’s not a restaurant, it’s take out only.

A tiny take-out place with traditional Greek fare. Heavenly Moussaka and delicious tzatziki, a Mediterranean gem if you live in the area.

Anthi’s is TINY so do not come here expecting to sit — there are no tables. It’s definitely a to-go spot but that’s okay because it’s delicious and there are some nice community gardens nearby to sit in while you devour some perfect Greek food. They have a one entrée/two sides deal that comes to $ 10.99 with tax. Not the cheapest lunch ever but worth it for a homemade meal. Entrée options include moussaka, spanakopita etc. I opted for the roasted red pepper stuffed with a rice and meat mixture. Stuffed peppers can sometimes be so dry but this was fantastic. It was juicy and flavorful. For my sides, I tried the yogurt beet salad, which is thick and creamy, and a lentil feta salad. Both were delicious. The desserts on display in the window looked out-of-this-world, but for once I demonstrated some self-control and refrained. Don’t forget: CASHONLY!

The shittiest food I’ve ever had. $ 11 for a «chicken» gyro with literally 2 small prices if chicken, which tastes frozen and microwaved. DONOTEATHERE.

Not what I expected. I found this place through the smorgasburg fair. The spinach pie aka spanakopita is great so I took the liberty to order a bunch of food from the store since it was close home and the options were very promising. Hummus, baba ganoush, beet salad, stuffed pepper, spanakopita, taramosalata, etc. Let me start saying the hummus was awful so everything falls apart from there. If you make a bad hummus, what to expect right? It was kind of old and acid. I prefer the hot dishes rather than the cold ones. The grape leaves are ok and the Baba ganoush, maybe the tzatziki, but that’s it. The sweets look better so I guess I would go for a pastry but I’m hesitant because of the bad experience. Is a small place run but it’s owner so I understand if they had a bad batch of food. I will give them another chance since the owner is a nice guy

My last experience was absolutely horrible. This time around it was«ok». While not an expert on Greek food I have eaten in at least a dozen Greek restaurants and I think I know when it is not great. The grilled chicken wrap had 5X the salad than chicken. I am being generous, I actually counted and there was probably the equivalent of ¼ chicken breast at MOST. The moussaka was a pretty small portion(a small aluminum tin 4“x3.25″ — the portion was about 3“x3″) for $ 7 and the top was burned– I literally can lift it off in one piece and it is black.(Will take photo) The Patitso was only slightly less burned on top and was at least edible, albeit not very good. The portion container was at least full, albeit also small for the price. So, $ 36 + $ 4 tip to the delivery guy and we are still hungry and frustrated to boot… At least I kept my word and tried them again. NOTE: after reading other reviews I thought I should also point out that my taramoslata dip came with one pita and I was charged for a second.

So Good the Moussaka was amazing and so was the Dessert. it is kind of hidden but if you do not mind no seating and very small space definitely go there

Here’s the deal: if you’re okay with a place that is cash only, extremely small with basically no eating space, and serves food sort of deli style(i.e. has been preprepared and needs to be heated), then you’ll absolutely love Anthi’s. A lot of negative reviews on here are for these reasons. I love Anthi’s because it is a hole in the wall neighborhood spot and family run. As mentioned in other reviews, the food is delicious(esp the moussaka, my favorite) and inexpensive. Also, the 40 for 30 Unilocal coupon is clutch… I use it to order more food than I normally would order and save half for lunch the next day(FYI you cannot use the coupon if you’re ordering online. For pickup and paying in store only)

BLOWNAWAY. BESTMOUSSAKAEVER. Here is the correct way to do it: you must heat up the food. I cannot imagine eating Greek style moussaka cold. If you live afar you can walk a few blocks to whole foods where there is a microwave oven in the dining area. I got the $ 10 platter which comes with a main and 2 sides. The moussaka is so airy and light!!! Spinach dip is really flavorful. Gigante beans are good overall but there are a few beans that were a tad undercooked. I actually don’t think the portions are that big. I planned on making 2 meals out of the platter but after I got home and unwrapped the food I thought it barely sufficed as one meal if one is hungry. As a result, I also ate the small apricot Greek yogurt which I saved for tomorrow morning and now I’m feeling stuffed… Food is 5 stars but taking off 1 because of the portion sizes and the fact that it’s cash only! But remember there is a Unilocal deal and also a $ 5 off check in offer! This shop is also at Smorgasburg(at least the one on Sunday) but remember: heat up the food.

A little hole in the wall right by my apartment with delicious Greek food. It’s take out only, and no frills. It’s not as cheap as you’d expect, but not unreasonable. Expect to spend about $ 10 for a basic take out dinner. Don’t miss the gigantes beans! Sometimes I go here just for these.

When I stopped by they were out of hummus, which made a fair number of their menu selections not an option. They also did not give me the chicken wrap I ordered and presumably paid for(it’s hard to tell with no receipt given and very few prices posted). The baklava in the window looked good and from the previous reviews we expected it to be great, but instead of fluffy, crispy pastry off the tray we were handed three leaky clamshell boxes with soggy pastry swimming in a thin syrup. The taste was pretty unremarkable but the texture was nothing like baklava should be. The cucumber/tomato/feta salad was decent(but, fairly simple). The turkish delight was good as well.

Have been wanting to try this place for months and finally went in the other day. The baklava is OUTOFTHISWORLD. It’s comparable to homemade baklava I’ve had from my Greek uncle and at my Greek friends’ village wedding in rural Greece. All that to say, this stuff is authentic and you have to try it as well as the more cinnamony version. The Turkish delight was also fantastic. Both the meat and vegetarian moussaka were only okay. The fava beans with dill and tomato sauce was delicious.

Mediocre and overpriced food. Hummus choices are limited and when they dole it out it’s a small portion. The spinach pie is not very flavorful and is definitely disappointing. Avoid if you can! Watch out: They’re out and about at a lot of food markets around Manhattan with their bland overpriced food.

This should be on every cheap eats list in NYC. I have only tried their wraps, which are made-to-order and oh so fresh. Love the hummus and chicken ones. It’s cash only and super tiny with no seating, but in warmer weather you can just walk a few blocks to Central Park to enjoy your meal. Best value on the UWS.

I’m not sure what’s negative about this place… aside from it being too far from the UES. Holy crap it’s delicious. Thick luscious babaganoush, tzatziki, and yogurt. I had the chiken tzatziki wrap, and yogurt and it was awesome. Great deal for 7 bucks(wrap) and kick assedly authentic. It’s like being on Xios again. Anyway, place is the size of my bathroom but with better food. Lady looks like she’s working like a machine. super nice.helpful.I dunno man, just go here. it’s a great deal for great food. get the sammich and enjoy.

A total rip-off. This place is cash only, prices were mostly unlisted, and the woman at the counter appeared to be making up prices for each item as I ordered them– for instance, I ordered two stuffed peppers and she charged $ 6 for one and $ 10 for the other. I was not given a receipt. After I ordered more than $ 50 worth of takeout– mostly dips like baba ghanoush and tarama– she gave me a single slice of pita bread and said she’d have to charge me if I wanted more. Needless to say, I won’t be going back. The pricing here is sketchy and dishonest.

The world’s BEST Greek yogurt is made and served here. There are 2 different flavors each day, and my apricot yogurt($ 5 for small size) tasted incredible. So thick like cream cheese, and apricot flavors bursting in my mouth. It put Chobani to absolutely shame. 5 golden stars to you, Anthi’s Greek yogurt. I guess with any true hole-in-the-wall establishment, there are peculiarities that leaves one feeling quite sketch about the place… Anthi’s oddities are(1) no utensils or napkins for you, and(2) they run out of the simplest ingredients(e.g. lettuce) by 12pm. So unless ordering by delivery, either bring your own spoon, or go to the pizza store down the street and ask for a spoon there(yes, that is what I ended up doing). And do expect minor changes in your gyro.
