B&S Zeeman Wines and Liquors

Newly renovated, with a better selection than before. Bright and welcoming; like the music. Saw they had Pappy Van Winkle on the shelves!

As a southerner I vouch for Steve (come over glasses) as a very helpful and pleasant gentlemen. My experience in his store was very pleasant.

Okay, so call me nuts, but I go to a wine shop for the selection, not the store personnel. The guy who works there may be a bit weird, but so what? He was friendly enough and more importantly had good stuff, competitively priced. I saw lovely Mersault, pouilly-​fuisse, barbaresco, Chablis, fino sherry and more.

The old guy with the combover and glasses is honestly the worst person ever. Same credit card issues as other people were saying. Never going back. He ended up scolding me for questioning why he needed so many forms of id. When I became offended he told me to get out of his store and called me a «punk ass kid». I’m 28. Never going back.
And his store smells like a musty cat.

I agree with Dan C. One of the managers/​employees who works here is extremely odd, unpleasant and f*cking weird. (Middle aged guy with large 70s style glasses) My experience was similar with the credit card issues. I came in, cupcakes in hand to purchase some champagne for a colleague’s birthday. When I asked him to help me pick 2 moderately priced bottles, he acted so put out and exasperated you would think I was asking him for a damned kidney. Then, I made the mistake of trying to use a company card. Admittedly the name on the card is not mine but that hasn’t been an issue for me in the past.
While I understand that he couldn’t allow me to use this card per the store’s policy, the way he spoke to me about it was so out of line that I’ll never return. Instead of just saying something like «Hey, I’m sorry but I can’t use this card. Do you have another one with your name on it?» he flipped out and talked down to me like I was either a moron, a criminal or both. Luckily, it was pretty apparent that this guy was crazy so I just took out my own card to shut him up and didn’t let myself get riled up by his verbal attack. But instead of letting it go at that he KEPT ON LECTURING ME about it like I was a naughty child.
This guy does NOT know how to treat his customers. I could not get out the door fast enough and frankly, I think he needs psychiatric help!

Nice selection of wines and liquors, but the owner/manager’s attitude will have me absolutely NOT going back. Never have I had such an unpleasant trip to the liquor store. When I inquired about a certain type of champagne, he condescendingly asked how I was paying. Credit card, I answered, and he began hounding me asking if it was my OWN credit card. He then asked for my ID and continued to accuse me of having a fake credit card. The name matched and I don’t even look young. Just not a nice man. I don’t appreciate being accused or being given attitude. I spent $ 200 in his store and you would think I would get a smile or a thank you. He practically threw me out of the store and probably still doesn’t believe me. I’m 23. That guy is a jerk for no reason, and I will not be returning.

Small store but the guy working when I usually come in is so nice! The prices aren’t terrible either.

Very helpful in choosing a wine. Has been in business for 75 years. Conveniently located near Washington Square Hotel. Don’t be fooled by the «wine product» they sale in food stores. It is NOT wine. l

As reviewed by most other people, if you are in this area and looking for price and selection, go to Warehouse. I have no idea how they charge prices so low.
But if you’re in the area and aren’t’ motivated to go to Warehouse, this is a nice, friendly place. Personally I go because they have one of the best airline («nips» or «minis») selections in the city. The weird liquors you want to try before you commit to a bottle, the standards you want to sneak in to a concert or on a long train ride, you can find them all here.

I came here after dinner with the girls. Two of us were celebrating our b-​days and the staff gave us free nips. Super awesome if you ask me! The prices were average and the staff was so nice. This may sound made-​up or like an exaggeration but they treated us like long lost family and when we were leaving it almost seemed like they were kinda sad. Hmmm… now that I think of it perhaps I was dreaming? Who knows? I think we may have been the sunshine in their day ;)
Ok, ok enough about our ten minute love affair. I’d def come back again if I’m in the area due to pricing, fun staff, selection and location hours. I’m a happy consumer!

It’s not the best liquor store around especially since there is a huge wine and liquor warehouse 5 minutes away BUT at 10 pm, B&S were the only ones open in the area with liquor. The staff was nice and didn’t card (we were all over 21 but I hear people who are under can get away with buying stuff sometimes). I believe there is a $ 10 minimum for credit card… which is easy to spend when you’re buying alcohol.

Random thought: I judge you when you think crappy products are good based on the label alone.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and take a guess that B&S focuses a lot more heavily on the «Wines» part of the «Wines and Liquors» in their name. I popped in here because it’s conveniently on my way home from the office and I pass it to and from work each day.
I was looking for only two things: Bénédictine and Bluecoat Gin. Guess what two items they didn’t have. (If you guessed Bénédictine and Bluecoat, I’m touching my nose and going, «Ding, ding ding!» in spirit.)
How does this place continue to exist, considering the presence of the cavernous and incredibly well-​stocked Warehouse (
) and Astor (
) mere steps away? Needless to say, I’ve not returned since.

The staff at Zeeman are super friendly and very knowledgeable. Whether you need to know the missing ingredient to a great margarita or just need a suggestion for a decent bottle of wine under $ 15…Zeemans got it. The prices are competitive with other local liquer stores and they carry a big selection. One of the few places that carry Level Vodka.
