Bagel Bob’s

I looove Bagel Bob’s. Soft, tasty bagels with heaping pillows of cream cheese, and everyone who works there is super nice. Sometimes there can be a bit of a line in the early morning, but the guys move so fast that it doesn’t take long. Plus, on Mondays there’s an NYU student discount, which is pretty dope. Also, if you live in the area, you can call it in and they deliver pretty quickly. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is that they don’t do BEC, and they don’t take cards, which hinders me from eating more delicious bagels!

A warm, doughy bagel is never a bad thing — especially as the weather is starting to take a frosty turn. Bagel Bob’s may not shield you from the cold for long (the place is tiny and always bustling) but the friendly (read: often kind of flirty) staff and no-​nonsense bagels and shmear can help start your day off right.
«Wow, this review is glowing,» you’re probably (not really) thinking, «why only 3 stars?» Despite Bagel Bob’s pros, its selection and bagel flavor — not to mention its slightly annoying apostrophe situation fall a little short.
First, Bagel Bob’s fails my Super Special Bagel Test. This elaborate ritual requires the purchase of a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything and then pending approval, the purchase of a bagel with cream cheese on a subsequent trip. As they do not have breakfast sandwiches, I couldn’t carry out this carb fueled endeavor. I understand why they don’t make eggs (or at least didn’t when I’ve visited) but sometimes a girl just needs some bacon, Bagel Bob. Secondly, my everything bagel seasoning was severely lacking and while it was warm and pretty good in texture, I expected the bagel to have more flavor. Lastly, it’s cash only which generally kind of bums me out.
This said, I have not made my last trip to Bagel Bob’s and appreciate their hot bagels and friendly (but also v NYU) vibe.

Due to the fact that I start every day with a sesame seed bagel toasted with Bagel Bob’s Garlic and Herb Cream Cheese, I must give this place five stars. It is cheap and dependable. No matter how large the crowd is, the line moves rapidly with the staff’s efficient and focused efforts. There are so many amazing cream cheeses offered, I cannot wait to try all the flavors over the years. I have never had a bad experience. Make sure you have cash and you know what you want.

I love the bagels and I love the staff.
Everything is super high quality and every time I walk in, the staff greet me with an excited «hey how are you?!» and wide smile. It makes me happy to go here.
Cash-​only is annoying, but this is New York. If you don’t have cash in your wallet, you’re screwed anyway.

In a world of culinary exports and chain-​if-​i-​cation (there are Shake Shacks everywhere!), the New York City bagel remains an amazingly curious holdout. I’m sure if you’re a Manhattanite this place is nothing special to you, but they make fresh boiled bagels, those bagels are delicious, and they are dressed and served with great efficiency and even a twinge of good cheer. We came here for breakfast one morning and ended up coming back twice more in the course of a weekend.

Incredibly bagels for incredible prices. Usually super busy in the morning, but once the morning rush is over and the students are in class, it’s pretty empty. And even when it’s busy, the service is quick and the crowds move by relatively quickly.
The people who work are extremely friendly and they always ask whether or not you want your bagel toasted. Which is a huge plus! All of the bagels are incredible and there is a wide variety of different sandwich and cream cheese options. In addition to that, the coffee is amazing! I also believe that NYU students get some sort of discount with their ID.
The establishment does have seating, but not very much. On the bright side, the store is very close to the park! The place is cash only, but I guess it makes sense, as everything is very cheap! I love this place and try to stop by when I’m on campus!

Probably should be renamed «The Flirty Bagel Shop». The men working here are incredibly complimentary and the atmosphere mimics that of dating sites like Tinder. The bagel was good though. Also if you show your NYU ID you get $.20 off.

Go here if you like very flirty bagel men. Good self-​esteem booster. Bagels were good too, but bagel men are key. 10% off with NYU ID. Great perk.

Your run of the mill bagel joint in the city near a college campus. Decent bagels, good options, and fairly priced. I have eaten better bagels, but this seems a reliable spot, not outrageously priced, friendly staff, and not wildly overhyped. If I’m in this neighborhood and hungry, I might stop back in.

Absolutely delicious as well as convenient for a quick breakfast. Be warned! Go early or else the wait for one of these scrumptious bagels will be very long!
Regardless of wait duration, they pay attention to the details of your order and no matter what, it will be worth the wait!

I mean there isn’t much to say. This place has fantastic bagels and a great selection of flavors and cream cheese. I don’t really do sandwiches or any of the other stuff so this is a pretty easy/​simple review. If you’re in the general area and looking for bagels this is the place to go. REMEMBER they are cash only though.

Literally the worst bagel I’ve ever had. My everything bagel tasted stale, was basically burnt, and had almost no cream cheese on it (and no, I didn’t ask for light). I’ll be sticking with Tal, thanks.

This was one of the most unimpressive bagel I have had, It barley had any topings, had no flavor and tasted stale which was weird because it was warm so it must have just come out of the oven.

Pretty decent bagels, but a little over-​priced. I’d actually give this 3.5 stars, but wasn’t impressed enough to round up to 4.
FOOD: typical New York bagels. They have just about every variety you could possibly think of, including the all important everything bagel. I ordered a turkey and cheddar sandwich on a plain bagel, and liked it enough to order it again the next time I came in. Everything was fresh.
SERVICE: friendly guys, but sometimes don’t listen. They asked me if I wanted the bagel toasted and I specifically said no. They toasted it anyway, so I ended up with a lukewarm bagel sandwich. I made sure to watch them the second time I came in, and it was much better when the bagel wasn’t toasted.
PRICE: this is where Bagel Bob’s stumbles the most. I get it. You’re in the NYU neighborhood (though they offer a 10% discount to NYU students). But $ 7+ for a basic turkey and cheddar sandwich is actually more expensive than a hero down the block at the corner store with the same ingredients (though obviously not on a bagel). This is the biggest reason why I didn’t round up to 4 stars.

Had I not had the absolute displeasure of ever having poisoned my mouth with their searingly disgusting coffee, I might have been a bit more generous and given this place a 3-​star review. But even without the coffee, this place is only worth going to if you found yourself in desperation.
This is NYC. There are a million bagel places, and if you are a native NYer, you know they are not all good. This place is one of the latter kind.
Honestly, I won’t waste your time for more descriptions other than the fact it’s cash only. If you have cash, you’d fare better at a street cart.

Quick, friendly enough service but their ‘everything’ bagel lacks, well, everything. I’ve tried it twice and the lack of toppings puts me off, no matter how good the texture is. I’d be willing to try other bagel flavors here but their version of my usual just doesn’t cut it. Lox cream cheese was good and plentiful. Decent iced coffee.
