The waitress kept laughing in our faces when we asked about a promotion Unilocal offered for the bar, as if it wasn’t legit. Also, she kept saying«don’t forget to tip the bartender!» A pretty lonely bar with limited amount of available drinks. My drink was served in a small plastic cup as if I was in someone’s house birthday party and not in a bar on Union Square.

It’s time somebody called it for what it really is, Bar 13 is a toilet, a dump and for sure a fire trap! It’s an old 3 story dive. There is a skinny stairway to escape from the 2nd and 3rd floors if there is ever a fire and it is very likely to be one, because it’s a very old wooden box. Better yet, a very old wooden smelly box, where up on the roof people are lighting up cigarettes and even flicking their burning butts into the corners of the roof and off the roof as well. Look out below! I do not want to be a stat in the next BIG club fire. This place is a tinderbox! And it is NOT even a club. It has no club atmosphere what-so-ever. A port-a-potty has more ambiance and smells better too. It reminds me of what a dive would be like somewhere in the hills of hee-haw land, not New York City. The place really stinks of cigs, stale beer and old puke. I’ve seen better looking, classier clubs in Nogales, Mexico! I gotta get outta here! So on my way out I saw and heard a short bald headed guy screaming. Someone said his name is Larry or Louie. I asked a bouncer about him and he told me he was the manager. He was yelling at someone like they were dirt. Screaming like a crazy man in front of customers and other employees! Wow! Louie or Larry, later dude. Later Bar 13. Bah bye.

This place was great until the wait staff allowed people to start smoking despite a No Smoking sign. Cigarette haze filled rooftop. Not cool. Wait staff that break their policies or worse, can’t read, even less cool.

This place was interesting. We came looking for a low key spot to celebrate a friend’s birthday earlier in the night. We got here around 8 and the crowd was(much) older which was cool. It is a rooftop that isn’t crowded and pretty good music so we were geared up to stay the night. We asked about ordering food. The kitchen was closing but we were told we could order food so we did. When I went get my food from downstairs they told me we couldn’t eat the food here. They then proceeded to radio security and tell to follow up on the fact that we couldn’t eat. Meanwhile, we had to sit in a haze of cigarette smoke even though there is a sign that says no smoking(picture posted). When I asked security about the smoking he said that it mean no weed — right.

I’ve been here twice which is bad because it’s down the block from my job, lol. However, the service is really good and the happy hour prices are great! The rooftop is nice and inviting even though there aren’t enough cool chairs for everyone. The only thing missing better music otherwise. A+

I came here afterwards …from the International pillow fight in, NYC… That was fun! … Then to the,” Pillow Fight After Party” at Bar13… It was very crowded… but, they had a awesome roof top to hang out to eat and so on. I soon had to leave because it was a little bit to crowded for me.

I came here on the NYC Whiskey walk. I loved that there was lots of room to dance and the bar service was fast. The music was great, too. I think I danced to 3 songs in a row. It was a lot of fun. I look forward to coming back another night to dance!

The place is nice enough to stop by for a drink with friends, but it is not upscale. Rather ordinary, décor seemed somewhat dated. Staff last night were professional and friendly. It was right after work so the DJ was not up. Not so easy to spot from the street, a doorway at street level, bouncer checking ids; walk up one flight, turn left and open the door.

Went there for NYE2015. It was open bar so all of us thought we could get 2 drinks per person at best since everyone would be crowding the bar. WEWEREWRONG. They have 3 floors and each floor has a bar. Needless to say, it wasn’t crowded and everyone got drunk. DJ was good and it was great vibe. TVs all over the walls so we could watch the ball drop while being away from midtown(for good).

Went here for NYE. My friends and I each purchased after 12:30 admission tickets, getting there around 12:45. We bought the tickets knowing that there was an open bar for us until 1:30. The bartender was extremely rude and declined us any of the drinks we were entitled to, claiming the open bar ended at 1 despite us showing him our tickets proving that it was supposed to be until 1:30. Also, upon arrival, the entire bar REEKED of vomit and the floors were a disaster. People were falling down all over the place. The crowd had cleared out by around 1:15 and the place was still disgusting. No one was coming around to clean it up. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Pro: Good happy hour deal There is a dance floor on the second floor, bar on the third and a roof top on the level up. Good to go with friends Cons: the roof top and area in general is really small

Kept us waiting in line for a long time even though we paid and had a ticket to get in. Pretty slow and inefficient for what it was, which is basically like any other crowded bar in the city with crappy drinks and sloppy partygoers.

This is quite possibly one of the worst establishments in the city of New York. Despite its prime location, it over charges as expected without providing good service. I saw a bouncer throw a man down the stairs after one of the bouncers sexually assaulting his girlfriend and he tried to tell them to leave her alone. A moment of pure shock as I had never been so frightened by men who were supposed to be keeping people safe. This in tandem with the crowding of many underage patrons makes this place horrible to go to. To make matters worse they had the nerve to demand cigarettes everytime I stood outside to smoke one, threatening to not let me back in if I did not give them one. Hopefully the city shuts down the establishment before more patrons or underage teens that are let in get hurt. Besides all that happens the place also smells like moth balls

I paid $ 80 for an all you can drink New Years Eve event that started at 8pm. I’ve been in line for an hour and a half(it is now 10:30pm) and they have not let anybody in for the past hour. The line is probably about 250 people. This is a 2 star rating for not letting people in that have paid up to $ 200 for tickets.

Came here for new year’s eve. There was a half an hour wait in line, and the line was not even moving. Though many people asked what was going on, no explanation was given. Finally after getting in, we were able to explore the area. The first floor was nice with a few booths, but the coat check was full. We traveled up to the second floor where there was another coat check that we were able to use. However, when I went to order drinks for me and my three friends, I was told that for the open bar I was only allowed two drinks, even though I pointed out my three friends behind me. I made it to the roof, where it was chilly, though covered. The bartender here was on point and extremely friendly, and almost convinced me to give this place two stars. She was a peach. The place as a whole was extremely crowded, even though it was a ticketed event. Additionally, without any TVs, no one knew when it was midnight and we were unable to watch the ball drop. Even worse, we were promised a champagne toast, which we couldn’t even do because there was absolutely no way to get to the bar. Overall, a pretty bad experience and would NOT recommend coming here for NYE in the future.

Went on a Thursday night which supposedly it’s empty and it wasn’t which wasn’t a bad thing! A good little crowd with enough room to dance. The drinks are little overpriced. The problem was not only the overpriced drinks, but it is considered a «rooftop» bar. The bar was not open. Also the music was great; however, when requested a song from the DJ which was never played.

Meh… I’ve been to much better dance clubs in the city. Bar 13 is your stereotypical dance club bar filled with sloppy drunks, rowdy boys from Jersey having a «big night out in the city,» and slutty girls dancing… or should i say grinding it up on the dance floor. If you’re into that, then it’s great. I came here with a bunch friends ready to have a good Saturday night. I’m not sure if it was worth the $ 10 cover fee, but my friends had an okay time. I can’t really imagine this place without the rooftop. The rooftop really saves this place from being a disaster. It’s a really chill place to get drinks and finally mingle with other people without trying to yell over the loud music. Except, I’ve been on better rooftops that actually have a view. Without the view, it’s really just an out door patio with it’s top open. The drinks are expensive and watered down, the bathrooms are pretty gross, and the music is just your basic trashy electro with a heavy base. It gets pretty crowded, especially when they open their rooftop. Other than that, not really worth my $ 10.

Soooooo, why do you have pictures up of a completely different bar? This place needs to be sold to another person and revamped. The drinks are too expensive and served in small baby cups with extra ice. To make matters worse the service is horrible! My cousin decided to host her birthday party here and I was excited. I was disappointed by inside. I was happy to see my family but went with the flow of the night. I noticed the DJ kept on called one birthday girls name and it was not her’s. I went to the host and asked if she can please assist with getting a birthday shot out for her… DIDN’T happen. Well the night was fun, but I will not be going back to Bar 13.

Bar 13 NY Manhattan Union Square 2:30am 22nd November 2015 Three Stars There seemed to be more employees than people here. The crowd was definitely dying down except for some select lonely gentleman. They had a decent DJ. The bartender was cute. They have many down facing spot lights throughout the dance floor to highlight various dancers. The drinks come in plastic and relatively reasonably priced.

Lively place with three floors of fun. The only thing is walking up all those stairs. I swear with too many adult beverages one may get stuck on the top floor because it may not be safe to walk all the way down. The night me and my two friends night the second floor was playing salsa/bachata music. Turn up! we had a blast. Great place to visit when you’re down in the area to hear a few tunes and get your drink on.

I came with some friends on a Sunday night. Apparently, it was Reggae night, so they had Guiness bottles(I didn’t know it came in a bottle!) for $ 3 until midnight. That was a nice surprise. We hung out on the roof deck because of the gorgeous weather, but the ambiance is not that great. Concrete floors with high walls, a few tables to stand at with a few chairs on the periphery, and drinks served in plastic cups if you don’t get a beer. It was also so dead on a Sunday with just a few other groups hanging around. We had a good time and stayed for a while, but I won’t be rushing back.

I used to go there a lot, for happy hours, weekend party nights and rooftop time Rooftop view: Well it’s only on the 4th floor floor so not much of a view but if you want a drink and fresh air, why not? They do not play music at the rooftop. The other two floors have couches and are very loungy. Ambience: It really depends on what night you go. Happy hour attracts a lot of young professionals. Weekend nights is a gamble. Last time I was there(about a year ago) it was for a spoken word event so the crowd was mostly Black and Latino. Music: Varies per night but they usually have one floor playing top 40. I wouldn’t go here just for the rooftop, and I think it used to be way better in the past, but if you’re looking for a bar in the area, why not

I’m not much of a bar person, but Bar 13 hosted a Seinfeld trivia game last night. I sat at the bar waiting for a friend for about 10 – 15 minutes I sat at the bar, the bartender never asked me if I wanted anything. Shortly thereafter he arrived, I got the attention of a different worker and she was helpful. The venue itself was relatively small and was absent of décor and a lively atmosphere. Not to mention, they initially didn’t have enough seats for all of us attending the trivia and I had to use the bar stool at a folding table. As I’m 6’4′ I was beyond uncomfortable to say the least. Luckily, a buddy of mine found me a proper seat. Lastly, the pizza was absolutely awful when the server bought it out all I could do was chuckle. They had happy hour until 8PM on well drinks($ 5). I opted for two rum and cokes and it was basically like drinking a soda, no liquor present whatsoever. Overall, the venue is not great, the pizza isn’t any good, the drinks had all but no liquor, the server was nice, they need more seating if they continue to host these events, but the trivia itself was done well so I’m giving a generous three star rating.

It was a beautiful Sunday, so my friend and I decided that it would be a good time to check out this rooftop bar, which I’d walked past a bunch of times. We showed up at 3, only to discover that this place doesn’t open until 4 — kind of bizarre, considering their big selling point is the rooftop. We came back an hour later and began making the trek up three flights of stairs to the rooftop. Two flights up, there was a small sign posted«cash only on the rooftop, ATM available on the third floor.» Figuring we were on the third floor, we looked around, but did not see an ATM. We arrived on the rooftop to see a pretty eclectic crowd — a couple who must have been in their 50s, a small group of women in their 30s, and a pair of guys who appeared to be in their 20s. Each group had quietly staked out a corner; it was a pretty dead atmosphere. We probably should have left at this point, but having made the journey to the rooftop, we felt obligated to stay and at least have one drink. We ordered the(terrible) frozen margaritas — my friend had to spot me, as we never were able to figure out where that ATM was(the only open door in the building led to an electrical closet). The thing was, we couldn’t even sit down and enjoy the drinks — the seats are made of black vinyl and were uncomfortably hot. And the only«shade» provided came from three nearly dead palm trees in the middle of the roof, far away from the seats. It was actually somewhat entertaining hanging out on the roof for a few minutes, as we got to see multiple other groups having the same experiences as us – arriving on the roof and having an identical«I guess we should stay and have a drink» conversation, looking for the non-existent ATM, and debating whether to keep sitting on the burning hot seats. It would have been nice to have a good rooftop bar in the neighborhood, but I can’t see myself ever coming back here.

came here for clueless trivia run by trivia ad. It’s annoying to get carded at the door when you show up for trivia w/no intention to drink alcohol(can’t they just check the people who actually try to order drinks?) Walked up one flight of stairs, which is where the trivia was being held. It’s a pretty big room with a bar as soon as you walk through the door. The bathrooms are to the left but only 2 out of 3 were in order. The bathroom was tiny, but clean enough. There seemed to be $ 7 appetizer specials and a few healthy choices like brussel sprouts were amongst the typical bar fare like pizza, empanadas and quesadillas(Ok, maybe that’s not your typical bar fare — can you tell I don’t eat at bars all that much?). The trivia itself was fun — I came in second — but only about 11 or so people showed up so the competition wasn’t as fierce as I would have liked it to be. Of course this has nothing to do with the venue, but if you’re considering going for the trivia this information might be useful to you. There were maybe 3 other people at the bar just for drinks, which means it was very quiet. Granted, this was on a wednesday evening around 8 — 9pm. Maybe the party gets started much later here or only on the weekends, or maybe everyone was one flight up(I didn’t venture up to the 3rd floor but they also seem to have a roof bar)

After a bit of a wait outside, we finally paid and joined in the mêlée. It was very crowded and rowdy from all the no pants subway riders. Good vibes reminiscent of a Trini carnival fête but we’d had enough of the revelry for one day. Got beers but didn’t get a good feel of the place. I’m giving it a 3 because most people seem to be having a grand old time in here. Moving on. The End

Not many people here on a Friday They are generous on the alcohol and the music is pretty good. Lots of room to sit and dance. I find the drinks a little brick and plastic cups are expected.
