Beach Bum Tanning 2nd Avenue

This place is completely unprofessional and unethical. I stopped by on Saturday and was charged $ 30 for a basic session (I had never been to this location under B.B. management and wanted to try a session before purchasing a package.) It was a good thing to. Completely unprofessional staff, and couldn’t even provide the service. I was told to have a seat and I would be next. I sat there for a long time wondering why it was taking so long. After a while another customer walked in and was put ahead of me. Two of the three staff members made it clear that this was not cool, while the third member lied and said the other customer was there before me.
At that point I asked for a refund. The staff member dealing with me was clearly unsure how to do this and called a manager who supposedly processed the refund. I was told to call on Sunday if for some reason the refund never went through. It didn’t go through and I called, only to be told no managers work on the weekend. I was then put on hold indefinitely. When I called back (4 times, no one answered.) It took a 5^th call to be told again, that there was no manager and I was given a ridiculous and unprofessional email (it was a personal email, not BB.) I was also told to call back again at another location. At this point it is two days later, no refund and the worst customer service that I have ever experienced.
To sum up, high prices, unprofessional staff and management, and a complete inability to provide services. STAY AWAY from this place at all costs.

I have been to Beach Bums before, but never this location. Of course the prices are a bit high at this franchise but I just paid $ 30 for one session in this lowest level standup bed & the max was 7 mins! Are you kidding me?! Plus, they said they would not honor the $ 10 for $ 25 Unilocal deal, claiming it is only for packages… which of course is written nowhere.
The store itself was a mess & they didn’t have a towel in the room.
Gross. Stay away.

this location is pretty good
long time to wait for spray tanning usually, cause all the girls on the UES are from Long island and jersey and Westchester so we like our tans!

Extremely strong scent of weed inside. The promotions on their websites are scams. They did not honor them.

Beach Bum is my favorite tanning spot in NYC. Of all the places in the city Beach Bum has the newest and best beds for getting the fastest darkest color! This location is very clean and Felicia (the manager) is super sweet and she knows her product. She does not try to sell like a used car salesmen. I highly suggest buying a lotion called Cypher 2 or Black Legacy (I used both). Two days of tanning with those lotions and I look like I stepped of a yacht in the Mediterranean.

This place is great for first timers. Elliot gives you lots of knowledge and goes out of his way in the customer service dept. oh and hot girls go there. ;)

I’ve been to a bunch of tanning salons in the city and I must say this is my favorite spot. The service is fantastic, the beds are always clean and the bulbs are always new. What really stands out is how nice and knowledgeable the staff is… If you ever go there ask for Elliot… Such a cool guy and he really knows what he’s talking about. Overall great spot. If you haven’t been there yet you should definitely check it out.

Whenever I go to this location, Sara R. is the one that always helps me. Very sweet and takes care of me. Its nice to go in and see her smiling. I like this location the best.
