Got a phone call seeking collection of payment for an out-of-network doctor. Turns out that the doctor I saw 11 months ago at the start of pregnancy was not the doctor that I made the appointment with. Instead of Alan Berger, who was recommended by a friend and who was in network, they made appointment with his brother Marc Berger, who is out of network. I saw Marc Berger twice, without ever knowing which doctor I had actually seen. My insurance will pay the difference between in-network and out-of-network by some luck, so his reply was that I shouldn’t care. Really disgusted at the duplicitousness. And glad that I switched doctors. I could have gone my entire pregnancy without knowing which doctor I was actually seeing. This is why our health care costs are going up.
