Big Apple Mini Storage

The facility is clean. several things you should know:
1. they charge you $ 0.25 for using their restroom. There is a lock on the door of the restroom and you have to put a quarter in to open.
2. All credit card transactions are $ 10 fee.
3. The hours are limited. Sunday is closed. Sat close early at 3:30. Mon to Friday you will be charge $ 50 after 5pm.
4. There are ladders in both isles on the 1^st floor. but they will not let you use another isle’s ladder if the ladder in your isle is in use. Because Mike says so. Even if there are no other customers in the other isle. So you just have to wait. Mike says: YOU CAN’T USE ANOTHER ISLE’S LADDER. THAT LADDER IS FOR THAT ISLE FOR THOSE CUSTOMERS IN THAT ISLE. Yeah, but there are no customers there !
5. I was early to get to the storage like 15 minuets before they opened at 8am. Mike was inside and everyone working was inside. MIke says no you can’t come in at 7:45. no at 7:50, no at 7:55. no at 7:58. Finally ITS 8AM. and he says OK now you can come in.
6. They don’t have a garbage can in the facility. If they do, they will probably charge you for throwing away your garbage.

I have been using this storage off and on for 2 years so far it’s been good.

The facility is impeccable, clean safe and air conditioned.
The gentlemen who run Big Apple Storage on 124^th are terrific: Very helpful, very respectful. True, the hours are tight, but I’d much rather give my business to Big Apple rather than one of the bigger, corporate storage companies. (I’ve used both) I highly recommend.

Honestly I NEVER take the time to write negative reviews but this one has to be said. People beware. I am appalled by the disrespectful horrible customer service I received here, mainly by the possible manager, and Irish fellow named Mike. I had to store things for an ex tenant and they have horrible hours of operation to begin with. Later I had to make changed to my account and told them I moved out of the area and worked far away so it was extremely difficult to stop by to make changes to the account.
They refused to ever let me do anything over the phone, charged me bogus admin fees left and right and charged me $ 5 to FAX something. The worst part was at one point when I checked my unit to see if it had been cleared, my personal privacy rights were violated as someone in the establishment informed an outside party when I stopped by to visit the unit I was PAYING for.
Finally, after everything I forgot about the account as the last time I went someone else apparently payed for the next month of storage and I wasn’t informed, so I went to close my account. At this point, the day before was a holiday so I went on the 5^th of the month to close the unit that was apparently no longer even being used but that my name was still on and the guy, Mike REFUSED to let me close the account without paying $ 100 for the entire month. He was rude, snotty, argumentative and compared it to paying rent on an apartment that you have to pay on the 1^st not the 5^th. Um it’s called customer service, you were just closed on the 4^th and you prorate or pay a late fee or something. They can keep billing all they want because the way I was treated there is disgusting and they are not getting one more dime from me.
This company needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau.
