The service and staff were great but the food was tasteless. Top dollar for mediocre food. That’s what New York is good for unfortunately. Do any or these vegan restaurants know what seasoning is?

Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing here but I honestly wasn’t impressed. I wasn’t thrilled already that it was a completely Vegan menu, but was willing to keep an open mind and try it since I like Red Bamboo in the West Village. Sadly, I was disappointed. The good: the restaurant itself is beautiful with tons of space since it’s two levels. The wait staff is friendly and attentive and the food came out quickly. The cinnamon iced latte is really yummy and was easily the best part of the meal for me, hence one extra star than I was originally going to give. I tasted a little of my friend’s pizza which was better than what I ordered. The bad: I had the Tofu Benedict which sounded decent on the menu but was honestly just not good. The only thing I liked was the side of roasted potatoes and asparagus. Instead of actual Hollandaise sauce(which is not vegan), they used turmeric and I think mustard(?) in whatever it was but that was a terrible decision since the strong taste of turmeric overpowered everything else, and each bite was interspersed with an overwhelming mustard flavor. Turmeric should not be the main ingredient in any food since it doesn’t taste good, it should only serve to alter the color of the food. It was a very strange dish and I do not recommend it. I guess if you’re vegan this place is decent, and my friend said the dinner was good when he had gone before, but I’m not a fan. I think if you go here and are not vegan, stick to the dishes they can’t really mess up, like French toast or pancakes. Stay away from anything that normally has eggs in it.

Great Service! Very accommodating to my multiple food allergies. Everything on the menu is vegan with the exception of a few dishes that are clearly stated. The menu has each food labeled with gluten free, nut free, and/or soy free. I had gluten free rigatoni Alfredo.(The gf pasta is made of rice and potato flour) My non-vegan friend had Cauliflower«steak». She was happily surprised that is tasted so good and highly recommends this vegan dish. We shared ganache with soy vanilla ice cream that was to die for. The restaurant is pretty big. Outside seating pulse two rooms of indoor seating. Nice noise level.

I was very disappointed — being vegan myself I was overly excited to eat here. came for brunch w non vegan friends. at 1:30pm on a sat the place was nearly empty. the service/er was not very proficient with the menus or knowledgeable about ingredients. my country breakfast arrived very much on the colder side along with the Luke warm coffee. I think most of what was on the plate was pre cooked then perhaps flash heated up on the grill b4 serving. the choc cake was surprisingly dry and disappointing. the server asked about said cake & when I mentioned it wasn’t very good & kinda dry he just giggled. I would not eat here again. bummer.

Ambiance, taste, presentation: this restaurant has it all. My husband and I went here for dinner and were wowed. We started with the butternut squash gnocchi — we licked up every last drop of that sauce! The gnocchi were tender and the balance with the sauce was just right. I had the black truffle pasta dish and he had the Autumn harvest dish(they change out their menu items so frequently I can’t find the name online anymore!), and both were delicious and beautiful: the attention to detail is everywhere. For dessert, we had something I’ve never seen a vegan version of: orange crème brûlée. It was just as you want it to be: crackly sugar on top, smooth custardy inside. It was perfect. Someone very smart is creating these dishes and they’re doing a spectacular job. The staff are very nice here. I hope to go back soon!

Went here for a Vegan brunch with some family and friends. Got in pretty early and they were able to seat us right away. From the beginning, service was on point. My cousin had called and made a separate reservation as we had been told they couldn’t accommodate a reservation for 10. Since we showed up early the host sat us down and said that he’d look into combining our reservations. They ended up combining it with no problems at all. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. She recommended some dishes to the meat eaters in our group that really wanted some meaty less vegan type things. I got a gyro and the country breakfast. The breakfast was quite good with a tofu scramble, roasted apples, vegan sausage, and French toast. The French toast seemed like it was made out if stale baguette and was very hard, not like the traditional soft ooey gooey type of French toast one is accustomed to. The gyro was OK as well. Not great, but not bad. The dressing inside the gyro was too watery so it was running out with every bite I took. It also came with a side, where I choose the sweat potato fries. The flavor was good, but these were cut a lot larger than I would’ve imagined. Sweet potato is a very soft vegetable so generally speaking the fries are cut smaller so they hold form better. These were pretty thick. Still delicious though. 3⁄5 because it was good and service was great. And is recommend trying it out, but some of the dishes didn’t perform as well as I would’ve hoped.

Always a great menu, bar and service!!! Always best to have a reservation, but walk-ins never have to wait too long! There is great food here for vegans and everyone else!!! A full bar and ever changing selection of wines and spirits! Have a full meal or simply a snack or just dessert and you will not be disappointed. #FOJ

Actually, they’re fine. My big complaint is that they took our favorite dish – the southern seitan sandwich – off the dinner menu.(it is still available for lunch, but that doesn’t do us much good.) We ordered that thing upwards of two or three times a week. And then suddenly, it was gone. Nothing else on their menu is as good, so we don’t order from here anymore. Adding insult to injury, when I wrote to the management to request that they bring it back, my email was not responded to. Whenever I mention it to someone who works there, they explain that it was part of an effort to change up the menu, except as far as I can tell, it’s the only thing they took away, and nothing that they’ve added has compensated for it. Generally, the staff also concedes that it was the best thing on the menu. Bring back the southern seitan sandwich at dinner, and you got yourself a steady customer.

I’m not sure what all the hype is all about, I mean Blossom is no candle 79. The difference in those two restaurants is like comparing your local curry joint to Indian Accent. One has serviceable food that feeds your belly when you’re too lazy to travel and the other is a true culinary experience. I’ve been wanting to try Blossom forever as it gets rave reviews, but alas it was all for naught. The atmosphere is nothing fancy I would suggest sitting at the bar if you don’t want to feel like you’re sitting at a take-out place. The wine list is short but we did have a very good Israeli Carmenere that I would highly recommend. I ordered the seiten scallopini and my bf the soy bacon cheeseburger. Mine was ok, I did have to douse it in copious amounts of salt and pepper for it to actually taste like anything. The sautéed kale was good but the mashed potatoes had the strangest flavor, like those flakes that come in a box that I will admit I tried, just once. The sweet potato fries were definitely the high light of the meal. The soy bacon tastes nothing like real bacon and I do know there are better iterations out that and the burger was meh. I think my expectations were way too high and I was sorely disappointed. For a great vegan meal Candle 79 still has the rest beat.

My boyfriend and I originally weren’t going to go here because we heard it is a little pricey but we were nearby and after looking at the menu decided to do it. We got there a few minutes before they opened for dinner and it was raining so they kindly let us sit inside until they officially opened. All the staff was friendly, courteous, and even the kitchen staff seemed in good spirits. Everything is vegan and even the wine and spirits are vegan which is a tricky thing to have to deal with when you go out. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and my boyfriend got one of the specials which was a cauliflower steak with gravy. The cheeseburger was by far the best I have ever had. The patty was a convincing texture and flavor, the bacon was crispy, and the cheese was melted to perfection. It’s so hard to find good red meat substitutes and this one took the cake. The cauliflower«steak» was a little weird since it’s literally just cauliflower pressed into a steak shape but it was delicious and the gravy was amazing, especially to dip your side of fries in. We finished off with tiramisu and a scoop of ice cream. The waiter warned us the ice cream scoop was small which is unfortunate because it’s $ 3 but it was really tasty and worth it. The tiramisu was out of this world and came with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and mint on top which I thought was a nice touch. Overall I was very impressed with Blossom and would highly recommend to anyone who doesn’t mind spending a little more for delicious, well researched vegan food and drink, great service, and a lovely atmosphere.

Not a vegan, or care to pay too much attention to a health lifestyle, however, I must admit — this place, hands down is amazing. I’ve been to their other location when my friend comes to visit for Albany. As he is a strict vegan, our eating options are limited and this is his go to spot Server was attentive, food was prompt and the taste, oh so good. We started with the butternut squash gnocchi(cashew sauce has so much flavor) and entrée, I had the Curried stuffed Sweet potato… there is a small hint of curry, but not overpowering. With the combination of all the other ingredients, this is hands down — one delicious entrée. I am looking forward to my friend visiting town again, cause he will be sure to stop here for dinner and I am on board.

I ordered the vegan cheese sandwich with eggplant and tomato soup. The sandwich was wonderful, but tiny. The soup was average and quite big. I would easily give it four stars if the sandwich wasn’t so miniature. The service was perfect, the ambience is chilled-down, and the prices aren’t cheap. I will come back, but will sadly keep away of the wonderful, microscopic sandwich. [The picture is a little misleading. There were four bites of this sandwich. I couldn’t help but eating one before taking it]

I absolutely LOVE it here. In fact, I crave it often. The first time I fell in love was when I came here for lunch after frolicking in Central Park. I had the Southwestern Quinoa Salad(black beans, quinoa, roasted sweet corn, diced peppers, watercress, toasted pumpkin seeds, guacamole, tahini dressing $ 15). It was delicious! Exactly how I like my salads… a little protein, here by means of the quinoa. Some creaminess in the form of guac with greens and crunch with the pumpkin seeds. It was piled high perfection on a fall day. So filling and flavorful! I also had a green spinach, cucumber, apple, lemon, ginger juice. The waitress was so kind and brought me a shot of the gorgeous beet juice because I just could not decide which of the many mouthwatering juices to order. The beet was not too«earthy» as beets can sometimes be, just as she told me it wouldn’t be. You honestly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Very fresh and clean, plant based options. Simple décor and outdoor seating which is a huge plus for me. This is always my go to when on the Upper West Side. I have yet to try any other locations, but I couldn’t recommend Blossom any more. You will not be disappointed. A vegan must and a place to possibly convert a carnivore. You were warned.

Solid 4. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which was a super tasty tofu scramble with guacamole, soour cream, corn tortillas, black beans, and the best vegan cheese I’ve ever had. Kids had quinoa pancakes with coconut«mascarpone» cream, fruits, and maple syrup. Two great brunch dishes! Other dishes at the table were quinoa burger(sweet potato was perfect amount of sweet without being too overpowering), seitan cutlet sandwich(just okay, nothing exciting… but it was nice and light), breakfast burrito(again, just okay), and fries(not good at all). Overall, I have to support a vegan restaurant that has a good variety of food and gluten free options.

I call that destiny. I was planning one eating at another vegan restaurant a few minutes away, but when I walked in front of Blossom, it caught my attention. I had read about it online but I didn’t think I could sneak either a lunch or a dinner there in my schedule since I was only staying for a few days. Well I am glad I did.(This is where you picture me high fiving myself) I ordered a Soy Bacon Cheeseburger with Sweet Potato Fries. First, you need to know that I am a sweet potato fanatic, it’s even surprising I haven’t already started a cult because of how much I love them. I am very difficult when it comes to my beloved sweet potatoes and trust me when I say that these were the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had(and I’ve had a lot of them). Now when it comes to the burger, let me just say that I almost asked if this was really vegan because it had this distinctive smoky taste that is peculiar to meat — real meat — which really surprised me. The combination of the cheese, the bacon and the chipotle aoili was another surprise, their chef definitely knows what he is doing. I wouldn’t recommend going to Blossom because then you’ll leave and never find anything like it and you’ll probably cry yourself to sleep thinking about their soy bacon and how it was melting in your mouth. But if you don’t mind having a hole in your chest that can never be filled(or if you live close enough to go there on a regular basis), then do not hesitate a single second. Go.

Made a reservation for two for a Wednesday night. Unlike their other locations, this spot is fairly large with two«levels» of seating in an upscale atmosphere. Between the both of us: shared the Mushroom Tacos($ 11), Pine-nut crusted Eggplant($ 23), and the Savory Seitan($ 23). The tacos came out first — two soft tortillas with mounds of veggies and mushroom. The slightly spicy sauce they mixed in with the mushrooms at the bottom really separated it from your usual fare at a Mexican joint. The crusted eggplant swims in a mountain potatoes, artichokes and this flavorful cashew sauce. Seitan has a weird texture to it… something of a cross between tofu and falafel. Once again, the rosemary tomato sauce that settled on the bottom really put the interesting touch on the vegetables. Service here is friendly and fast, without being bothersome. Only complaint is that this place is particularly expensive. However, most of the dishes are big enough to be packed for a second meal. As a non-vegetarian, enjoyed how all the various sauces can be counted on to carry a meal. A must try.

I came here for dinner last night and was extremely impressed with every aspect of my experience. Servers and hosts are lovely here-really personable and friendly. Atmosphere is romantic and cozy. I was so overwhelmed by the menu, because everything looked incredible, especially the seasonal specials. I was sort of craving a burger, and moments later my friend mentioned that they serve, in his opinion, the best veggie burger in NYC. I ordered it with a side salad, which was massive and dressed with a delicious Cesar type dressing. Definitely the best side salad I’ve had in my life. The burger was perfect, piled high with tapioca cheese, faux bacon, and tomato/lettuce. Well worth the $ 17 price tag. I had the raw artisanal chocolates for dessert, which were equally impressive. Complex flavors and lovely presentation. I plan to come back later this week just for cocktails and dessert, because their beverage menu seems too good to be true(vegan White Russians!). Definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in NYC. Highly recommended for vegans and omnivores alike.

I visit this café whenever I’m in the city. Pricing was high for portion size and quality. The black-eyed pea cakes were very small and mostly potatoes, totally not worth the cost. Service was slow. Four staff walked past me before someone finally offered to refill my water. I may visit again, but I won’t be rushing back.

I have been to three of the Blossom’s and unfortunately this one was the worst in terms of food. The service is kind of the same all around, not entirely attentive wait staff but it is totally alright. What was not good at all was my food. In the Blossom on Carmine I ordered sautéed kale as a side dish and it was superb, here it was tasteless and I didn’t know how to help it. The sautéed spinach is also a no-go here… it was drenched in oil, tasted like nothing and made my teeth feel gritty for the remainder of the night. My friend ordered the southern seitan sandwich which I indulged in because he wasn’t hungry and that was good, but I shouldn’t have to order an entirely fried dish for it to have flavor… :(Sorry

Great spot for delightfully tasty vegan fare. Our server helped us to choose our appetizer, an eggplant tower, which was exceptional. It packed so much flavor and was the perfect start to our meal. I ordered the seitan scallopini, my boyfriend opted for the southern seitan sandwich with hand cut fries. The sandwich and fries were perfect. Wouldn’t change a thing. Both the sandwich and fries had perfect amounts of seasoning and crunch without being overdone. I will definitely be getting that dish again! The scallopini on the other hand, was a disappointment. At $ 22 it just wasn’t anything special. The texture of the seitan was rubbery, and the truffle mashed potatoes were watery and lacked any seasoning. We were disappointed that there was not a single note of truffle essence to be tasted. The greens were also quite bland. They lacked seasoning. The lemon caper sauce was flavorful, but the entire dish was swimming in it. Despite not loving one of the dishes, the atmosphere, service, and quality of the other dishes will definitely keep us returning for more.

For the price, it’s not very good food. I was especially disappointed by stale nachos – stale is just unacceptable at a restaurant. Other lowlights included a side of mushrooms that was utterly bizarre – just a huge pile of tasteless, unflavored cheap mushrooms. The vegan sushi appetizer is not very good. Everything is pretty bland. I’ve had better vegan food at a dozen places, and all of them charged less for it. The prices could also reflect the atmosphere and service, of course, but they’re really too pricey for that, too. The service has been very«meh» the last few times I’ve gone, with smaller requests forgotten, and general slowness. Adding to the«meh» nature of the service, this restaurant gets dead really early(like, 8pm early) which is awkward. It sucks to be the only people in the restaurant(and still get lackadaisical service!) The drinks are great and strong, the desserts are good. But for the price, go somewhere else.

Wow! This place is Amazing!!! Blossom does not disappoint. The atmosphere is awesome. There are barely any fine dining choices for vegan and this place hits the spot. I had a pear cocktail before my friends got there which was delicious and reasonably priced. Bartender was sweet. Our waiter, Jeremy, should be on a pedestal. He was extremely knowledgeable of the ingredients of the dishes were asked about. He was so friendly, we thought he owned the place. Appetizers were incredible especially the«calamari». wow! The entrees were a dream. The eggplant! yum! the seitan! double wow! This chef nailed it! Although a bit pricey, it was worth it. Just so you know, I’m a total food snob. Good not great. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. She didn’t seem to know important things about ingredients that customers might ask, like«what is the ice cream made from?» Gyro seitan was good, a touch too salty. BLT didn’t have enough B and the tofu on the sandwich was too thick and not tasty. Nice peach cobbler for dessert. Overall, just good. I probably won’t go back.

I’m not a vegan. My husband and I like to dabble in different cuisines, and another vegan option besides Thai choices, Peacefood and Candle were welcome. So Blossom it was. Amazing food. We couldn’t decide what we wanted, so we opted for several small plates. We got an enchilada special which was awesome. Our favorite was easily the buffalo vegan risotto croquettes. My husband doesn’t even care for buffalo sauce«stuff,» but he was very impressed. The service left a lot to be desired. In fact, I would even say Blossom’s staff probably did their best to try to get us to either leave before we were served and/or never return. Which sucks because the food was so good, we’d have definitely liked to return. First we were greeted by a very rude hostess. Rolling her eyes(I am NOT exaggerating), she seats us in an area with a bunch of trendies and trust fund babies. My hubby and I are down to earth and working class. I’m sure in their view, we were NOT typical customers. Our money is green; and we are both very educated; don’t judge a book by its cover. And our server was«special.» It took him TWENTYMINUTES to even get to our table(unless they were short staffed I could be understanding… but they were not even that busy). We had the water guy refill our waters twice before he even paid us any mind(his name was Jeremy, but we called him«Buddy Holly,» as in «Buddy Holly isn’t much of a waiter.»). As I said. We might not look like typical customers in their soho fashion designs, but we spend money and planned to do just that. We ordered drinks that NEVERCAME(adult beverages which I would Imagine is welcome because they are like $ 12 a pop). When I mentioned this to Buddy Holly, I’m pretty sure the reaction I was looking for was one of horror and apology. Instead I got a, «oh I’m sorry? Would you like a coffee?» Translation: you’re done with your meal, you don’t belong here, get out. Seriously Blossom? I have seen several good restaurants close down for LESS. They have excellent service and good food and greedy landlords and rising rents drive out the good and unique places. I actually HOPE this happens to you. Trust me guys — go to Peacefood.

I should preface this review by saying I think Blossom is a 3.5 star place(damn you, Unilocal, and your inability to allow half stars!), and future visits will probably drive this rating up. However, I’m basing this review solely on what I had this time around. First thing — the staff at Blossom is extremely nice. All of them were very helpful from the moment we were seated until after we paid our bill. Very pleased with this. If I were rating the restaurant solely based on service, it’d get a 5 star review, no problem. As for the food — Blossom’s big thing is that everything is vegan. For a vegetarian like me, I thought this would be paradise. The menu, at first glance, is quite varied, and the presentation of the food is stunning. But I didn’t think the food itself was that amazing, to be honest. I got the Seitan Scallopini, and I found that the sauce overpowered the rest of the dish(not that the sauce was bad in and of itself, but I really wanted the flavor of the kale, and it just wasn’t there). To be frank, I didn’t think it was worth $ 22. But the friends I dined with seemed to really enjoy their food, and invited me to take a bite. To my surprise, I really enjoyed the Fettuccine Alfredo(creamy, simple, delicious) and I REALLY enjoyed the Southwest Quinoa Salad(perfectly composed and fantastically priced). My walk-away impression of the restaurant is that the menu is a little inconsistent, and I got the short end of the stick. I was also very off-put by the lack of spice throughout the menu; many of the dishes just seem too bland for my taste. The ambience of the restaurant is welcoming enough to warrant a second try(and I’ll probably be getting a quinoa salad or the fettuccine alfredo), but I just don’t know if I can give this place a 4 star rating given the inconsistency and relative lack of flavor that I experienced. Perhaps their lunch menu is different.

If you have a vegan diet and can’t eat most things, you will probably like this place. For food that has this many limitations it’s actually quite innovative. However, if you’ve Tasted real meat or cheese before and are coming here to try a new restaurant, you’ll probably be disappointed because if you can eat those things, go do that. Don’t order soy versions of them.

The menu is innovative, the space has ample seating, and everything is vegan. We thought we would love it(and we loved their sister restaurant Blossom), but the food just was wasn’t that great. We had: Mole enchilada appetizer special – the flavor profile was off and they were served almost cold, would not get again Fettuccine Alfredo– this dish was good, but I wish there had been more vegetables in it and more complexity of flavor, would consider ordering again. Lentil Risotto special-this was described as a Dal dish dish on the menu so we were surprised when risotto arrived. The risotto itself(I think made of lentils) was fine. The standout were the amazing Morel mushrooms that were served on top-they were amazing. We will order different things next time and hopefully come away more impressed. Entrees average about $ 20 here.

Went again with friends. Seasonal menu is amazing. The starters(risotto ball and lentil rings) were amazing. The special was really yummy: it was seitan in Wine with mushrooms and mashed potatoes and a side of an onion ring, amazing! The eggplant entrée from the seasonal menu was great, had a hint of truffle, and full of flavors. My friend loved the lasagna too. Dessert was great, banana was yummy. chocolate cake was fun… One of my friends who is a complete carnivore was amazed by the food! Will come to continue exploring. definitely a vegan paradise.

I would give the southwest seitan sandwich 6 stars if I could. I know it’s not particularly healthy, but I loved the chipotle aioli and avocado on a generous portion of fried and breaded seitan. Truly delicious. I’d be a vegetarian if all vegetarian options tasted like this. The quionoa salad with black beans was also very generous in portion. Loved the colors in the dish. We had a 2pm reservation on a Saturday. It took about 5 extra minutes to sit down, but that’s a-ok. Our waitress was a little absent, and it took some time to get refills on water, but overall this spot is stellar. I like Blossom’s new spot on Columbus; the décor is a little more special, and has some character. It might have less seating, however.

I’d been a very happy fan of the original Blossom as well as Blossom Café, and was keen to try Blossom on Columbus for a recent business dinner with a colleague who kept vegetarian. I was happy to find them on OpenTable, and happier still to find free street parking nearby. Arrival at the restaurant heralded a bit of confusion, as both the host station and the bar were unstaffed. We were seated shortly after, in the main dining room, handed menus, and then… promptly ignored. The gentleman who came to pour our water introduced himself by plainly saying«I’m just here to pour your water, and can’t take your order.» OK… maybe they’re understaffed? Finally, the gentleman who seated us came back from the host station and asked if we’d been helped yet, and promptly took our orders. Mushroom ravioli starter for me, and black-eyed pea cake for my colleagues were our starters, along with a Southampton Pils for me. The ravioli were as good as I’d remembered them from Café Blossom, and my colleague was amazed by the pea cakes. Unfortunately, my beer seemed to have been forgotten on the bar until I was finally able to flag down the host again when he was in the main dining room. Shortly after, our main courses were brought out — my excellent seitan scallopini, although paired with a fairly watery mashed potato side, and and my colleague’s cheeseburger, which he considered extraordinary. The almond ice cream enticed my colleague into dessert, while I chose to give their cheesecake a try. Both were utterly delightful. In sum, I’d say that the food at Blossom on Columbus is, as at the entire Blossom family, top-notch. The service was utterly lacking, though. I’d look forward to coming back and giving them another shot though, as everyone can have a bad night.

Oh Blossom! You make me weep. I live in a city that I love and never want to leave, but New Orleans isn’t exactly a Mecca of incredible vegan food… nothing, absolutely nothing these days that even comes close to what I get on my every visit to Blossom when I go back to New York several times a year. So I weep because I love. I’ve been a long time devotee to both the 9th Avenue and Carmine St. locations. When I heard that this location opened up on the UWS and learned that the environs are considerably more spacious(not to mention an expanded menu with even more decadently delicious options), I knew I needed to check it out. I also knew my large-space loving suburban mother would prefer this to the other spots where I did have to hear a grumble or two about the tiny space we were sitting in(she, too, loves the food so much, that she always leaves happy and she’s not even a vegetarian). I ate: Lentil Rings(more like I fought… for the last bite!) Sultry, palate-pleasing and all those textures going on had me in ecstasy. Easily my favorite app at Blossom of all time. Soy Bacon Cheeseburger OK, shut up people who are all, «Why would vegans want to eat a cheeseburger?» I dunno, why would YOU want to eat a cheeseburger? Burgers don’t have to be meat. Really, they do not. If eating this cheeseburger is wrong, people, I don’t wanna be right because it is hands-down the best cheeseburger I have ever had. EVER. I’ll let that sit there with you. I don’t like fake meats. I don’t like processed crappy veggie burgers of the Boca variety(taste so gross IMO). I normally skip right over the burger menu when I go to a veg restaurant. I’d way rather have a bowl of something awesome like veggies, seitan and rice or noodles or Mexican or I don’t know… just not burgers. But this, this is a work of culinary art. I don’t know what’s going on in there, but DAMN this is good. I even ate the roll. I never eat rolls! Fact: at Blossom my favorite dish is the Seitan Scallopini, but I think this burger may now be my favorite. As are the enormous side of fries I also couldn’t help but order. Hey, it was the holidays! And my mom, who always turns her nose up at fries(which is just an act because I’m sorry, you may want to avoid them cuz they are not good for you but I haven’t met a person who actually doesn’t LIKEFRENCHFRIES. Especially if they are hand-cut. If that’s you, I don’t really want to know you.) And then there was the dessert we shared(a mean feat of dueling spoons). Tiramisu. I know I’m going to sound like a broken record here, but… the best, seriously, the BEST tiramisu I’ve ever had(and this includes the non vegan variety). It’s so rich, yet not heavy… utterly delightful. I think that coconut cream beats the hell out of mascapone. The flavor(lightly coconutty, not overbearing) works beautifully with the coffee infusion. Please do not suspect that a family member is involved in ownership or operation of this restaurant. I reread this and my effusiveness may come across as suspect. It’s just the way it is. My dinner here last month was superb. The service was excellent, if a bit green and overly attentive at times, while absent at others(he was very young and meant well, so I can forgive). We walked in a full half hour before opening(remember, I had my mom with me. I think once you’re past a certain age, the idea of eating dinner at 5pm becomes a given), and the manager kindly allowed us to sit in a booth because it was freezing cold out. And no one gave us a side eye or anything. I had several glasses of wine and don’t know what you folks are talking about as far as a meager pour goes. A larger glass means a lower level. Who doesn’t know this? Sorry if I’m getting defensive of one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Blossom, I love you. Don’t ever change(well, that’s a lie. DO change and open up in NOLA, or even Nashville or Dallas or San Antonio! I’m in all of these cities on the regular).
