This place is pretty good. Cash only now which is a little frustrating and I think it’s fairly overpriced(although now reading another review maybe they’ve started accepting cards recently?). But, the sandwiches are pretty great, especially the breakfast ones. Smoothies are good too, if you don’t feel guilty about spending like $ 10 on peanut butter and almond milk blended together.

I wanted to write this because the space is great, coffee and food so good but it’s really unorganized. It always seem understaffed and it always feels really chaotic and unorganized. Has so much potential and it’s the best spot in the area for lunch so just wanted to write this in hopes that maybe they’ll address it and be able to improve.

We regularly get coffee from this place and occasionally grab our breakfast as well. Ruth is amazingly friendly and helpful. She adds the personal touch to our coffee experience and always remembers what we usually have. Coffee and food quality is also awesome… highly recommended.

This place really makes me feel like I’m on vacation because every time I order food from them, they send a delivery person who speaks very little english and makes it very difficult to communicate bringing me my food.

Ordered a small order via seamless and after waiting almost an hour after the estimated arrival time, gave them a call to get an update. At first they didn’t answer at all. The second call, they indicated that the food hadn’t been sent out yet and would be another 40 minutes. We asked for a discount which they said they couldn’t do but offered chips and some soda for free. Once it finally arrived over an hour later, the food had obviously been prepared over an hour before as it was cold and soggy. The waffles didn’t come with syrup, the ‘free’ chips were a tiny bag and the over $ 9 smoothie was terrible. The restaurant might be great in person but via seamless on a Sunday morning/afternoon is the worst.

Oh Blue Dog, I love your sandwiches even when it a little pricey and you mark it up even more on Seamless, but you need to step up your service. In the 20 mins I’ve been here, you got two orders wrong, including mine and two customers walked out because you only had one server and she was so absorbed with making coffee she never looked up to acknowledge people who walked in. They waited a few minutes and left…

Still consistently high quality food. And they now accept credit cards! The staff is amazing and the main cashier is the sweetest. I’m a regular. Still no wifi though!

Delicious food! Got the spanakopita and gazpacho a few times and it was absolutely delicious. Very fresh ingredients and their menu is pretty big. Only complaint is the hours. They close so early that it’s probably impossible for most people with normal working hours to make it for dinner. It’d be a great place to pick up things for lunch for work but with such an early close I can never make it there.

I got the tuna melt and fries delivered to me and was grossed out by the taste of their fries. Not because they were cold or anything, just had an interesting flavor. Whatever it was it definitely didn’t taste like fries. And I thought the tuna melt was great, but I woke up the next morning vomiting, and am still suffering from the repercussions a week later. I know for sure that it was blue dog that gave me the food poisoning because it was the only thing i had eaten all day.

Absolutely in love with this place. Not only is the staff ridiculously friendly, but the food is delicious! I usually order a smoothie or sandwich and bring back to work, but the place is also super cute inside if you wanted to stay.

I love the food and the girls working are sweet but this has to be worst service EVER. I waited 15 minutes for a bagel, then someone went downstairs & said they«were toasting it now.» Seriously how long does it take to toast a bagel? I ended up taking the bagel untoasted. I also ordered a sparkling water & was told that I wasn’t charged for it, so didn’t get that either. So, wrong order, 15+ min for a bagel, & other times that I’ve been here have taken equally long but I guess I wasn’t on the way to work those times. Wouldn’t waste your time especially since the deli offers the same food!

This place is great. Ordered take out. Sandwiches are ridiculous. Solid place to go. One of the better sandwiches in the city.

Cozy spot for breakfast with a great menu. The mushroom and leek quiche was perfect and came with a fresh salad. My friend had the grilled avocado Benedict and it was a perfectly poached egg in avocado halves. If you’re not a breakfast fan, you can get a juicy chicken burger, which my husband devoured. And, Ruth was vey helpful. There are only four tables but it’s worth the stop or takeout.

First off, I’ve never stepped foot in this place, I’ve only had them via delivery at work, so my review is based on that experience, and it’s great. It is a little overpriced, but sadly a lot of the best places around here are becoming like that. But the quality is excellent, many of the selections are generally healthy, and the turnaround time has been excellent so far. Favorites include the salads(the Nicoise which had good seared tuna, and the Caribbean Cobb which really has nothing to do with a traditional Cobb Salad but is great), the occasional dirty chai and some of the treats like the chocolate walnut cookie. French fries are also really good, and I have a feeling they’re even better if you get them in-person — just a rule of thumb, fries that are delivered will lose crispness, there’s just no way around it regardless of where you go, but these were still enjoyable.

I love the sandwiches and chai here. Sandwiches are generous in size so it makes it worth the price. The staff is usually super friendly and helpful. My only gripe: I’ve been placing orders and picking up lately and my drink is never ready or even acknowledged. I understand you don’t want the ice to melt or a drink to get cold etc, but it kind of defeats the purpose of a pick up order when you want to pick up and run.

I work on the same block and pass by here all the time. Have ventured in here occasionally over the years and find the food between good and OK. Focus is on healthier choices. They used to make some warm food specials for lunch, like a risotto. It was good for some time, then it seemed to lack any seasoning, and then it was gone off the menu. I really like their tuna melt and get that occasionally. I am an almond croissant junkie but at over $ 4.50, I can’t justify it. The menu is extensive for sandwiches, warm sandwiches and salads. I’m a runner and eat voraciously and healthy, but I find it hard to get something here that I like, or that is a good value. The place is popular with ladies who eat much smaller portions than I :) Place is also tiny and once 10 people show up, it is a space trading dance that everyone does. I get my food to go. My biggest gripe — the thing that probably keeps me out of here most because I have a very sensitive nose — the ventilation here is terrible. The food is prepared in the basement but that kitchen is apparently is not(well) ventilated. All the grilling and toasting is wafting up the stairs to the top customer floor. When you walk in you are in a food cloud. I waited about 7 minutes for my tuna melt and I now reek of grilled sandwiches. I honestly don’t know how anyone comes here to eat and then does not run home to change clothes right afterwards.

Ate breakfast at Blue Dog Kitchen when I was visiting NYC. My husband and I split the peanut butter and pear sandwich and egg and cheese sandwich. Both sandwiches were awful. Honestly neither of us wanted to even finish our sandwiches. We almost threw them out but since we paid for them figured we better eat them. Both sandwiches were really dry, the bread was too thick and there was no flavor. Was really disappointed with this restaurant. Definitely will not eat here again!

I love this place because it is REAL healthy food. The problem about New York food is that even if a place seems to be ‘healthy’ and organic whatever, they still fry everything, use too much oil, etc., which makes it unhealthy again. Blue Dog is one of the only places where your sandwhich, soup or smoothie tastes like rich ingredients. It’s a little pricy but I am willed to pay it for this kind of quality experience. I am only giving four stars because they are using a lot of plastic plates, forks, knifes, bags and many napkins, even if you are eating in.

Over the past few months my weekend residence in New York has shifted from Brooklyn to Midtown, and with that has come great new set of culinary scenery. Shortly after beginning my exploration of the area I discovered Best Bagel and Coffee, whose breakfast sandwich blew me away: Since then, it’s honestly been a sequence of breakfast sandwiches that honestly don’t even come close, and Blue Dog Kitchen was bundled into that group during a recent visit Saturday morning. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? I will say that the service and atmosphere at Blue Dog Kitchen impress. I got the vibe that the clientele here was a sequence of regulars and locals, and the juice bar appears to be one of the real draws. Certainly no complaints. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? A $ 6.25 for a generous egg portion, a bit of sausage, and cheese on an everything bagel I really can’t complain. Pictured below. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? It’s here that things were, well, just basic(and with the recent trend of spoiled college kids adopting that word as their own I despise using it). The everything bagel? Meh, it was okay. Would have liked for it to have been toasted I imagine. The egg? Essentially without flavor of its own, so it really just acted as a filler. The sausage? Small, and left by its lonesone along with a small piece of cheese to carry to flavor of the sandwich as the everything bagel really failed to deliver the flavorful kick that I expect from an everything bagel. The whole thing was really just a sum of it’s mediocre parts, and compared to the breakfast sandwiches that I’ve had elsewhere I just wasn’t impressed. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? If I were a juice fanatic maybe, but I’m in it for the food, and the breakfast sandwich at Blue Dog Kitchen didn’t impress compared to what’s out there in the city. No Star Granted.
