Man, this place is kind of the worst. Walked in at 10p on a Wednesday and OFCOURSE there was a wait. The dining room was packed with HELLA bros with baseball caps, probably using their start-ups’ investor money to eat at the«hottest» sushi joint in NYC. But, sadly, it is no longer hot, if even once upon a time. Things that pissed me off: — forgot one of two appetizers — Soy sauce container was empty — Sushi was MEDIOCRE/NOT GOOD We left hungry, disappointed, and minus $ 200 for three people who ordered a total of two drinks.

I was thinking of sushi the other day. Not something I do with any sense of urgency. And was invited to the second floor of the Blue Ribbon sushi in what used to be the old haunt for New York garmentos. I forgot how much this area of New York has changed. What is preserved are some the drab storefronts, and brick facades from years gone by. To some in the new guard this must seem romantic and even cutting edge. I parked my car and walked a little, it was a cold drizzly night. Not many folks on the street, we arrived at the restaurant, two flights up and the space opens to a very substantial seating area. After a rehearsed welcome by the sushi chef we were promptly seated. Our meal was ok, if not exceptional. I quickly noted that the menu offered fried chicken, in the pure tradition of Blue Ribbon. I am trying to remember what I ate and frankly could not. I do remember how pretty the restaurant was, in its clean and delightful build-out. I will need to try this again for food next time as I think that is the point.
