Boss Tweed’s is one of those places where you probably wouldn’t take a second look if you were walking past it. Seemingly nothing on the outside, it’s actually a pretty sweet dive bar. The only reason why I found out about it was because I signed up for a 90’s-themed bar crawl and this was one of the registration locations. Anyway, it’s a no-frills spot with an arcade game in the back, great music, decent service, and good prices(but that’s probably thanks to the crawl). A shoutout to the bouncers too, they were pretty awesome.

***A warning to anyone that is thinking of visiting this bar*** This past weekend they lost my friend’s credit card. When I non-violently insisted the that they find the credit card so we could leave, the owner of the bar lost his patience and punched me in the face. After falling off the chair onto the floor, 3 bouncers forcefully dragged me out. My lip is busted and there is a huge lump on the back of my head. Though my friend and I were tipsy and my friend did try to come around the counter to help find the credit card, I never raised my voice, I was never aggressive, and I never touched him. This is unacceptable behavior for any owner of a business and I will never go back to this establishment.

I used to be a regular here back in the day(2005ish) Visited today and walked in to the strong smell of urine and a really dirty bar. There were 2 patrons in the bar and 2 employees. Ordered a pint and 2 shots for old time sake. $ 22 for a pint of Mermaid lager and 2 shots of… EXTREMELY watered down Jäger. I didn’t even finish it, so gross. The sorta friendly bar tender either over charged us, or they have tripled their prices… The sh! t was watered down(and illegal) Sad for one of my old haunts, won’t be back.

This is a bar. One comes to a bar to drink, talk to people and perhaps partake in low impact entertainment like beer pong. All of these things and more can be found in this magical gem. No trends, no inventive cooking, no chain-store décor, no multi-million interior. It’s a bar.

Great little dive bar in the LES with cheap drinks! I’ve been here a few times and have usually had a great time. The reason I only give them 2 stars is because on Saturday night 11⁄7 my card was charged 3x for the two drinks I had gotten. I was told the credit card machine was down and paid cash instead. Management was not helpful nor apologetic and I still had to pay for one of the charges because no receipt was made available stating that I had paid cash to provide to my bank.

I love this place for hanging out and watching sports with my husband. They also let us bring our dog which is a plus. Skee ball is my favorite thing to play and they have it. The bartender is a little grumpy though.

We stopped in here after a poor experience at a nearby bar, and I’m glad we did. The bartenders were on point and friendly, a chill and fun vibe with good music from the DJ, and the manager of the place, Blue, seemed like a great guy who was really friendly too. Beers offered were pretty good and I’d go back again for sure. There was room to dance and also spaces just hang out.

Let me preface this by saying that if I rated my previous visit it would’ve been 1 star. They recently renovated and re staffed, both were much needed. So when my friend and I first walked in there were only about 4 other people there, not that surprising based on it being a Weekday afternoon. The music was on low, which is a nice departure from the norm, and it was nice having to scream to my friend that was a foot away. They also have a shot and a beer special for $ 6 that can really be beaten, especially in the area. The reason I’m giving Boss tweeds 5 stars though, is for the service we got from our bartender James. It’s a night and day difference from the last time we were here. He was attentive, mixed a hell of a drink, and was hilarious, he had us in stitches. Plus a guy with an accent is always a plus lol. I’ll definitely be coming back on days he works.

Best Pickle Back shots in NYC as far as I’m concerned. You can get spicy or regular pickle juice. The bartender says they get their pickle juice down the block from The Pickle Guys, who have been selling pickles for years. The bouncers are pretty cool guys and like to chat w/customers outside. Bartenders are chill too. Great spot for watching a game w/locals or sharing pitchers of beers w/your kickball team after after a game.

When my dad was in town a few weeks ago, we were looking for a sports bar to watch the Chicago Blackhawks game after dinner. Kelly’s was extremely crowded(standing room only), and a quick Unilocal search for«sports bar» in the area suggested I come here. This place is your classic non-pretentious dive, with a jukebox and 3 different TV’s to watch sports. It was pretty empty on a Tuesday night which was exactly what we wanted– to be able and sit down and watch the game in peace and quiet. The bartender was extremely nice and agreed to change the channel to the hawks game for us – thanks for that! I also noticed some sports teams come in after a game and play flip cup at the tables in the back, so this place is good for groups too. It is a large space and was able to accommodate the group and the TV watchers in the front without being too noisy

Walked into the bar like …‘im just saaayin you can do better’ Lets just skip to the part when a patron called me a dyke, called my black friend the N word, so his friend… TRUSTEDBOUNCER, threw us out. Then threw me to the ground. Sorry for making fun of your lack of education, sir, but like — - you’re an asshole. Don’t go here. The people are scummy, the vibe is quite possibly, the worst.

great dive bar in the middle of all the fanciness that delancey now offers. They even had a live band when i was there last. It was great when Erin was here(that awesome bartender), but i hear she’s departed for the west coast. I havent been back since, but of course i will return when im in the area. thanks!

I’m undecided about this place. On the one hand, the dive bar characteristics made my experience here definitely entertaining and memorable. But on the other hand, those same dive bar characteristics will make me second guess coming back here. My group arrived here after seeing an sign advertising $ 4 well drinks(because why not). The only other inhabitants were a few frat boys doing some afternoon drinking and two older gentlemen who looked like regulars. You are also greeted by a not so wonderful pungent smell that is usually found in basements and similar dive bars. Although we came for the well drinks, we ordered beers and a pitcher of sangria. The lone bartender had to check the downstairs cellar supply if they had the ingredients for the sangria(she actually left the bar to check downstairs to see if they had the wine, leaving the bar unattended for a few minutes but there wasn’t much of a crowd so clearly things were not about to get crazy). Lo and behold she had the red wine and she made the sangria — or at least Boss Tweed’s Saloon version, which was essentially red wine poured over a pitcher of ice with lime and lemon wedges on the rim. I wasn’t really expecting much from this sangria when we ordered it but I was kinda hoping for a little more. The bartender was nice, very very relaxed(in between serving customers she was skype-ing or video chatting with someone, which I guess in this scenario wasn’t too bad since there were a max of 10 people at the bar at all times while we were here), and she was accommodating and really really tried to get us whatever we needed while we were here. I don’t think I’ll be back here but this did make for a pretty entertaining afternoon while I was here.

Currently drinking here now. Staff is friendly and competent. The clientele is also pretty cool and it’s a nice enough place to wait for other people to show up if you’re in the area. I ordered the ‘fantastic fries’ thinning they’d have done special kick to them. They’re nothing special but they were pretty good as regular fries go. I’d recommend this place for others to chill. The owner’s looks like he’s always around and he sends like cool dude.

I never have a bad time at Boss Tweed’s. It’s never empty but it’s not like the East Village dive bars, filled with drunk NYU students, where you can barely move. I’ve been here a couple of times and the most recent, there was a guy handing out flyers out front — which was kind of weird. But then my friend and I realized that they were 2 for 1 drink coupons! Oh and they have BEERPONG. Doesn’t get any more college than that. We only won one game but I guess that game we happened to win was the one that dethroned the champions. So we were almost like celebrities for the rest of the night. It didn’t even matter that we lost miserably to another team after that. I think I’m coming up to my last years where it’s still socially acceptable for me to be going to a dive bar like this. So I guess I better squeeze in a last few games while I still can!

Pretty good happy hour here — $ 2 PBRs, $ 2 Rolling Rock, $ 3 Bud & Bud Lights, $ 4 drafts and well drinks. They have Shock Top here and bar trivia here Wednesdays at 6:30. I like that they open up the front windows in the summer and they have a small but kind of nice outdoor patio all the way in the back. They also have a punching bag machine and a basketball arcade thing(which makes A LOT of noise when in use!) and a beer pong table that they’ll set up for you if you ask nicely. The bartenders here are cool and friendly. Bouncers are too. No attitudes or ego here which is great. My only gripe is their clientele. I feel as if there are always large-ish groups of really douchey and obnoxious people. If people are annoying sober then imagine them plastered. Granted this isn’t always the case, but it’s been the case the last 3 times(not in succession) that I’ve done their Wednesday Trivia Nights. In all, it’s not an awful bar and they do let you bring in food(or have food delivered) so that’s cool… but I don’t come here unless I want outdoor patio-ness or unless I’m with company I like and we’re pregaming to go elsewhere.
