Best chocolate chip cookies in NYC, hands down! I grabbed one on a lark and after my first bite turned around and bought 2 more for the friend I was meeting and my husband. Can’t wait to go back to try everything else!

Stopped by over the years, and recently while visiting the New Museum on Bowery. The quality is still there, classics don’t need updates ;D

The food taste good, reminds me of homemade cooking. The pie is alittle pricey for portion size.

Reminds me of homemade in the best possible way. The Spanikopita is delicately flakely with chunks of feta and fresh spinach. The Bakalava is equally amazing. And the Almond cookies with the powdered sugar are the best I’ve ever had. And I’m Greek so I’ve had some experience in these things.

The spinach pie was good, but I may have come in with too high expectations. This is a tiny counter within the Essex Street Market selling spinach pies and a few other baked goods. The spanakopita is thinner than usual, and the ratio of spinach to phyllo was a little off for my taste(I prefer more greens). But the pie wasn’t too cheesy. All in all, pretty good if you’re passing by but not worth a trip.

This place makes a mean spinach pie but for $ 4 a piece, and a small one at that, I don’t think I will be indulging in this too much. For what it’s worth, it is the best spinach pie I’ve had. I’m just not sure it’s worth 4 buckaroos.

Homemade baklava is the way to go baby!!! I love the fact that they’re just one stand in this food hall because you can then proceed to try various things. Only come here to look for a small snack; it’s not a place that you’ll find something to fulfill you.

Delicious baked goods. A small stand inside Essex Street Market. The sweetest owner and her mother run the shop. Plenty of fresh and aromatic baked goods on display. Reasonably priced and obviously home made. Tried the Carrot Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Spinach Pie and Baklava. Still thinking about them at this very moment. Quality ingredients used. Total came to about $ 13. The Carrot Cake was moist, not too sweet and had loads of goodies inside. Incredibly flavorful. The Chocolate Chip Cookie was soft, buttery and filled with dark chocolate chips. Just the way I like it. The Spinach Pie and Baklava is where it’s at. I regret buying just one of each. I should have bought the entire pan! It was that good. Crisp phyllo pastry on top with warm spinach and melted feta cheese inside. Lightly buttery and slightly salty all at the same time. This savory pastry was a delicate treat. The Baklava was sweet and had loads of nuts inside. The flavor of cinnamon really stood out. Delicious. The owner and her mother are so helpful and really try to get to know their customers. My day was off to a crummy start and their genuine smile and kindness really helped make my day that much brighter.

This place is a bit hard to review because it really only does two things: spinach pie and baklava. It’s a small stall hidden in the back corner of the Essex Street Market, so it’s the kind of place that you swing by if you’re in the area and take your food to eat as you walk. To their credit, both their spinach pie and their baklava were very good and tasted home-made. The flaky pastry crust of both seemed very well done to this non-expert. Given what kind of place this is, swing by and check this place out if you’re walking by the building. If you like it, you’ve found a new interesting place to visit to get good food. If you don’t, you only spent a couple of bucks but now know what the hubbub is about.

This stand is hidden away in the Essex Street Market. We stumbled across it pretty serendipitously, but luckily /embarrassingly my friend and I are die-hard Unilocalies who recognize a must-visit food stand when we see it. We got the spinach pie and the baklava. The spinach pie tastes eerily similar to Artichoke pizza… the fillings are very comparable, but I found the flaky crust to be a little bit too greasy for me. The baklava was ridiculously good and decadent. Dripping with honey, pistachios, a generous hunk of a portion. The food does have a very authentic, home-y feel to it, and the proprietor is extremely amiable. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this spot, but if you ever find yourself wandering the LES, worth popping in for a visit.

Finally got a chance to stop by this wonderful little gem hidden among the ethnic bazaar of the Essex Street Market. I can’t even count how many times I’ve tried to catch this place open and failed. When I got the chance to get some spinach pie from this wonderful woman, I was NOT disappointed. Now, you see, spinach pie isn’t exactly something I would normally eat, because it just doesn’t sound pleasant, but I freakin’ loved it this time. It was a bit pricey for a slice of spinach pie, but you pay for quality, and it never hurts to support small businesses. I have to go back and grab some Baklava soon.

I just picked up some food about 30 minutes ago. The woman was very friendly and we joked for a bit. I got a piece of spinach pie and a chickpea salad. Spinach Pie– Easily in the top 5 pieces of spinach pie I have ever eaten. To the people complaining about the price, this woman is supporting an independent business with quality food. If you want a cheaper/larger/disgusting piece of spinach pie go to your local diner. Chickpea Salad– HOLYSWEETMOTHEROF G-D! This is one of the most delicious/umami things I have ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth. The chickpeas were firm. They are paired with a very good feta. The ‘peas and cheese are floating in awesomesauce. The awesomesauce contains very good olive oil, lemon juice and herbs. A+ Going back soon.

Tasty but $ 4 tasty… I think not! I think I’ll just marry a Greek guy so he can make these for me every day for free… Don’t get me wrong… Boubouki’s spinach pies are SUPERYUMMY! But I’m knee deep in student loans and I can’t afford to pay $ 4 for 3 bites of spinach pie!

The best spinach pie I’ve had. The lady told me she would reheat it, which is highly appreciated and I came back after a few minutes of walking around Essex Market. It’s a thin triangle piece. The spinach filling tasted fresh and had the slight bitterness of spinach. In the end, it was $ 4 for an extremely thin and small bite of food. It doesn’t even contain a protein, so for the value, I have hard time justifying having it again.

Great place to go to! I was waiting to eat at Shopsin’s and decided to go right around the corner to Boubouki’s. I had to get the Spinakopita because I ate it so frequently at my neighborh’s home as a child. The spinakopita brought me back to my childhood… awesome flavor and nice and flaky crust! The owner and her mother were VERY kind as well! Will return when I go back to NY sometime

Like many of the gems opened in the Essex Street Market, this diminutive booth is well worth a stop. Boubouki offers a bit of Greek home-cooking, courtesy of Rona Economou’s grandmother’s recipes. The small menu varies, a mix of savory and sweet baked goods, and salads. The must-have item is the spanakopita, or spinach pie. The acclaim for it is deserved. That triangular slice of pie is blissful, thin layers of flaky, crisp phyllo topping a melded filling of fresh spinach and cheese, savory and perfect. I’ve had the privilege of eating Greek homemade spanakopita; this is every bit as good, albeit a different style. A flatbread topped with feta, tomato, olive oil, and herbs was also well-made, but less impressive. Quite tempted to try a pear cake; another reason to return. Prices are a bit expensive, but I consider this slice of Greek home-cooking a business worth patronizing, and the prices worth paying.

Spanikopita. Crumbly, crispy, buttery, flaky and delicious. The spinach is perfectly cooked and entwined with salty feta for an out-of this world bite. Dear Boubouki, I don’t think you understand how dangerous it is that you’re only a block from me. I have no choice but to visit everyday for a slice of heaven. PS: PEARCAKE. That is all.

Do not miss this pretty little nook at Essex Street Market! Their spinach pie is certainly the best I’ve had in New York. Baked right in the stand, the owner delivers fresh baked(STILLWARM!) Greek pastries– both sweet and savory. The phyllo dough is a buttery, thin layer of perfect crisp– sandwiching a hearty layer of rich feta and spinach. with a zest of(is it?) lemon! I can totally imaging bringing some home for dinner — paired with a fresh greek salad composed from produce from the market. and cheese from Anne Saxelby! Opa!

This tiny little stall at Essex Street Market packs a serious punch. I tried the spinach pie was super fresh and tasty. I have middle eastern and greek food often, and this was probably the best I’ve ever tasted. To top it off I had a small piece of the baklava. Amazing. I’ll definitely be back.
